No, I haven't gotten rid of it. My family moved to stay with my parents while our new house is being built. I have limited shop space so I could only bring my small lathe.

If at all possible, sometime in the future, I'd be very interested in seeing what those 3D printed parts look like before they're cast in resin. PLA is an interesting choice of material for that component. PLA has one of the lowest melting points of all the standard filament materials available, and can get brittle in thin layers. It is one of the more dimensionally stable during and after the print, though. A word of warning, though, PLA can melt in temperatures as "low" as inside your car on a hot sunny day. Don't leave your pen in there!

That is a pretty pen. How long does it usually take for you to normally turn one?
Thank you so much 🤗 I am guessing 30 min or so. Sanding is what takes all the time. If I use CA glue as a finish it takes a little longer. I always mess it up and have to apply it many times 😔

I have a silicone mold I cast them in. They were printed just a tad larger so they wouldn't float. I have a few more so I can video casting them this time. 😁

Eww! Kidney stones! I passed my first one earlier this year. I didn't know what was going on. I went to the emergency room. Don't ever want to go through that again. Great looking pen! You do a much better job with pens than you give yourself credit for.
My minds like a steel trap, nothing in nothing out. Healing prayers are being sent your way. That pen was very awesome.

If you use PETG in your printer it is a more heat resistant plastic. You still need to watch heat build up.

@@KimTippin I have a resin 3d printer also. It uses ultra violet curing resin which should be shrink and heat resistant. However I am no good at design work. If you have designs I'd be happy to print items for you.
