Couple thoughts. I agree about your view of motivation. First, discipline is far more important than motivation for an athlete (or anybody working hard at something). There are days when you aren’t motivated but discipline allows you to still put in the work. And trying to motivate as a coach, yeah, you might get a little bump but it’s like adrenaline that wears off after a time, it’s not a long term strategy.
I would add organization to the list, probably over motivation. Whether you need to get organized on paper or can manage everything in your head, there is a lot to track (especially as a head coach) and for me, staying organized helps me make the most of the time I have with my kids and helps make sure my assistants are on the same page.

To me “Communication” is firmly atop the list for the attributes of a great coach - it’s the quality that leads to everything else in my opinion.

Love the show. Also, 40% of kids come from divorced houses, make sure the kod knows the 3 things. Make sure both parents know.
