I love that you gave this much time to the "failed" first round where you paddled out and decided it was too dangerous. While the barrels into airs from the second session were awesome, obviously, it's also very sobering (and relatable) to see the official #1 big wave surfer decide it's too scary and not even try to paddle into a wave.
The CAVE is a cheese grater thinly disguised as a slab break. One misstep and you are the shred. Truly a wave of consequence, Nate handles it like it's his home break. World class !!
Nate’s dedication and hustle to world surf and vlogging is honestly so respectable.. Not just as a surfer but as a productive human being! Pushing himself every day with very few breaks
THE DECISION NOT TO GO - shows the WORLD CLASS LEVEL Nate is at. A true professional at a GOAT level. Yes, I'm beginning to use that term for NATE. He is incredible at so many levels. YES, Slater is the GOAT competitor, however, he has never mastered Sunset Beach or others. But hands down GOAT competitor, but Nate is taking things to the next level along with Kai Lenny, and a few others. I LOVE THE SLAB TOUR.
Good move brother. You know that super fine line between advanture and misadventure having been down your long road of experience. We want you to continue to exercise discretion as the better part of valor. Keep on bringing us the high-level slab series. Look after yourself and keep smiling!
I watched this in my truck in parking lot at my home break in Canada...it looked colder and windier there!!! Then you pulled out the 6'0 !! Ballsy Nate the Knifechucker 😂
Very happy you did not try to test the bigger ones with lots of width. Way too heavy/fat. Even that smaller wide one fortunately let you run through it or it also could have been a problem. Continue testing as much as you are able with safety as #1. Cannot imagine you getting serious problem. Not worth the risk when you are the top variety of heavy waves rider worldwide. We need you safe always please🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hey Nathan, great to Sea U surfing the cold waters of Portugal in Winter (the best, no one in the water! ). You've been there a few times, I'm sure that , with a little time, you'll find a nice sweet house, in front of a nice hidden/unknown spot. There's a place for you in this country of mariners and Sea Man! Enjoy and welcome back!
Love this channel it's like job 2.0 taken to the next plannet....level Absolutely 1st class capture and edits guaranteed to get your heart pumping your breathing heaving...#1 slab attacks on Web
Literally one of the best surfers ever. Makes impossible waves look like I could actually ride them, which is ridiculous. I don’t know how he does it, and how he keeps pumping out Contant day after day. Keep it up.
The positioning and timing at the 14:00 mark is amazing. The subtle adjustments and weight transfers on the back foot, almost impervious to the naked eye is high level tube riding at its best. Cheers for the water perspective.
This might be my favourite dispatch yet, felt like I was there on the dawn surf check, hanging out in the car park, etc. Even though you didn't catch any waves in the first sesh (or at least none that you showed) it was really cool to see. I feel like I come on a mini surf trip whenever I watch these vids, the highs and the lows and even the times when it's just too sketchy to be out there.
To see and hear Nate come in because he thought it was too scary was sobering. Travels the world and charges the scariest slabs with no problem, so you know that must've been super sketch!! Glad he trusted his gut and came in and also scored on the second sesh.
The amount of skill it takes to tackle a wave like this is incredible. I think, without a doubt Nat is by far the best technical surfer of all time. It is amazing to watch him size up these waves. remarkable 🙏 🙏
Nate, My wife and I love Portugal and are seriously thinking of moving there. Probably up by Porto area. Love seeing these edits!! thanks. P.S. Koa said you killed him with your workout. I'd never even try your workout... you're a freaking animal!!
Holy Guacamole 😮 That scared this grandma to death. Yikes Stripes 😳 You men are something to watch. Amazing photography. The views from the GoPro and the beach are breathtaking. Y'all are crazy , outstanding and badass.
Just watching your clips should put the fear into most surfers. Stay safe out there Nathan. You sure are putting the wsl to shame. Be sick if you and others like you had a real slab tour. Way better entertainment then Huntington and trestles. Alohas and mahalos for sharing your experiences
We surfed Punta Abriojos in Mex and a Massive/clean south. It hit the jetty/reef head on.. Massive slabs, Crazy riding such Waves, being that Far away from civ. 6 friends and 3 trucks and 2 weeks.. What a Trip.
Bro was best decision I seen you make, thanks for paddling in on that first sesh was too gnarly i was thinking sub conscious he shouldn’t be out there alone, jet ski assist would be good
"Just a couple of guys trying to score.". for us normal people it would be a life or death situation just to paddle out ,, let alone to catch a wave... anoter day at the office for Nate and the crew.. great work MEN!
Back in the mid 80s I surfed Reef and have a scar on my shin to prove it, we used to walk up to the cave to bake and mind surf that crazy wave, no one had the cajones to paddle put It reminds me of the indicator at Nias.
wow...good call on the first session. i kept saying 'no way'...that's not surfable. i don't think even a body boarder would have survived those pits...breaking right on the rocks! i'm anxious to see the second paddle out.
Agree, although I imagine it probably is difficult to adjust to surfing with a helmet at first, which may be why some surfers forgo it rather than being a bravado thing. I'm sure the extra weight on the head (however slight) affects the muscle memory.
That’s crazy how that whole shelf is just sticking out of the water showing you exactly how the wave is forming. Like the whole slap just got pushed up at a perfect angle to form a slab point break.
Yes. x2
Role model for young and old.
Respect.
or just didn't have the air rescue tel # yet. could see needing a helicopter for a rescue there.
The CAVE is a cheese grater thinly disguised as a slab break. One misstep and you are the shred. Truly a wave of consequence, Nate handles it like it's his home break. World class !!
Nate learning the ropes in Hawaii, respect, and safety are all part of growing up. You guys are setting a new standard of waterman learning every day.
Nate’s dedication and hustle to world surf and vlogging is honestly so respectable.. Not just as a surfer but as a productive human being! Pushing himself every day with very few breaks

Heavy slabs breaking metres from dry reef…
Nate: There’s no one out! 😂
Cant stop, wont stop, these slabs must be ridden. Keep doing what ya doing legend, the surf world has so much respect for what you do.
Bad boy...ungh ungh, ungh ungh
Preach it CS 🙌🏽 the Slabs must be ridden
Nice work young man. Stay blessed
Good move brother. You know that super fine line between advanture and misadventure having been down your long road of experience. We want you to continue to exercise discretion as the better part of valor. Keep on bringing us the high-level slab series. Look after yourself and keep smiling!
Unreal, it must a been a dream come true to have only 3 guys out! Mahalo!!!
That morning was like twice as big!! Mental! Surfer of the year, but Nate is really just a surfer in the purest of definitions!!!!
I watched this in my truck in parking lot at my home break in Canada...it looked colder and windier there!!! Then you pulled out the 6'0 !! Ballsy Nate the Knifechucker 😂
Watching you nate gets me so stoked, especially in tough times like this in Israel.
Love bro
Your stoke gets us all stoked Nate - absolutely love it!

Nate, I’m 51 and you inspire me to get back out there chasing perfect waves. Thank you, you goddamn legend you. 🤙🏽🌊 be safe out there brother!
44 here and same f-ing message. Now I just have to get my body into shape to paddle into something more than a chest high grinder.
The amount of shots on the sandals really lightened the mood on how sketchy those barrels were couldn’t stop laughing everytime
I feel like that last song was definitely in one the pirates of the Caribbean movies 😂 such a heavy slab! Slab Tour 24’ would be some sick merch 😮

I've been loving the surfing, wave hunting, travel content.
So good, the surfing, the filming, the editing, the music!. (It’s cool to use local music for cultural ambiance)
The music was epic and was perfect for the spot

There is nothing like seeing Nathan tackle the gnarliest seas by him self. Such a legend. Look forward to seeing you score a big one here
Great surfing at a gnarly break! Thanks for the adventure, Nate.
I've never seen Nathan paddle out and paddle back in without catching a wave.
Now that certainly says something about the spot.
Súper video and the slab…yujuuuuuu.
Such a nice heavy slab. I like how its a little inclined sloping up towards the land. Definately hand you a solid beating.
That was so sick at 13.10 and 13.23. The medieval battle music is perfect for these rogue waves.
He finally did it! A slab vid that I DIDNT think damn that soundtrack was perfect
Nate! Please continue to conquer these beasts! Amazing conquest, magnificent journey.

The Irish tunes are still with you, even in Portugal.🤣🤣
Thanks for keeping surfing core Nathan. None of this froo froo wack nonsense, just full on charging. You the man
Love the choice of music… you guys are always on point with that!
Nathan always ready to shred some gnar, be safe Master, 🤙🏼 slab tour gallore, Nate show us the cats of Portugal 🤙🏼

Dude. It was exploding directly on about a foot of water. Ultimate sketch.
Awesome surfing, footage, cut and music! Always love the chit chat start and finish 🤙
Love the slab tour the best thing on UA-cam you’re a legend nate!
The amount of skill it takes to tackle a wave like this is incredible. I think, without a doubt Nat is by far the best technical surfer of all time. It is amazing to watch him size up these waves. remarkable 🙏 🙏
So stoked to see the full day, shows the amount of work you put into scoring. Thanks for always putting out the best surf content.
Nate “its so sketchy”
Also Nate” I think I’ll work on my airs”

Nate, My wife and I love Portugal and are seriously thinking of moving there. Probably up by Porto area. Love seeing these edits!! thanks. P.S. Koa said you killed him with your workout. I'd never even try your workout... you're a freaking animal!!

Holy Guacamole 😮 That scared this grandma to death. Yikes Stripes 😳

Always pushing it. Amazing!
Awesome... 2nd section was gettin deep! Sweet
What an inspiration Nathan. Enjoy your stay in PT
Dude when a wave looks HUGE from the top of the cliff....you know thats gonna be a monster!
Like that big air at end of that barrel.Just a sick session!
Just watching your clips should put the fear into most surfers. Stay safe out there Nathan. You sure are putting the wsl to shame. Be sick if you and others like you had a real slab tour. Way better entertainment then Huntington and trestles. Alohas and mahalos for sharing your experiences
That set at 3:00 was absolutely massive. 🌊
We surfed Punta Abriojos in Mex and a Massive/clean south. It hit the jetty/reef head on.. Massive slabs, Crazy riding such Waves, being that Far away from civ. 6 friends and 3 trucks and 2 weeks.. What a Trip.
X2 head..Just Crazy, even the Bay was Overhead..The Beach break wrap was small but fun..
Crazy days..1993…
That steezy floater 3 bomb was nast
Surfer of the year ⛳
"Just a coupla dudes being bros" 😂😂😂😂😂 nice!!!
That 1st paddle out must've been something and tbh the waves looked downright evil. Good call to come in when you did.
How awesome. Loved the Portuguese tunes too
Bro was best decision I seen you make, thanks for paddling in on that first sesh was too gnarly i was thinking sub conscious he shouldn’t be out there alone, jet ski assist would be good
we need like hour long vlogs, 15-20min just not enough😂😂😂
What a scary one ! come to surf in Hossegor this winter ^^
You slab pirates are the greatest sailors the oceans have seen 🏴☠️
"Just a couple of guys trying to score.". for us normal people it would be a life or death situation just to paddle out ,, let alone to catch a wave... anoter day at the office for Nate and the crew.. great work MEN!
Heavy paddle line out~Go buddy!
Back in the mid 80s I surfed Reef and have a scar on my shin to prove it, we used to walk up to the cave to bake and mind surf that crazy wave, no one had the cajones to paddle put It reminds me of the indicator at Nias.
great session. what a wave.
wow...good call on the first session. i kept saying 'no way'...that's not surfable. i don't think even a body boarder would have survived those pits...breaking right on the rocks!
i'm anxious to see the second paddle out.
Insane scary entrance, dry reef😮😮😮
there is a wave in the Canaries called el Frontón, massive slab. Would love to see you there looking at this wave
@5:10
Nate ; know body is out. 🤯
Me; no shit you mad man. 🤙
Onward to the heaviest setups. Nate is the Slab King! The barrel hunger in his eyes is clear. Scary AF
The canary islands has some metal slabs, well worth a visit.
Yep it looked dangerous. Probably too cold for sharks at least . lol. I think the rocks in the lineup had priority.Well done mate.
Fantastic surfing and decision making
crazy not stupid but easier when get friends out too
I knew that thaat spot works solid!!!! thanks to gave me the proof!
Another great video
Brutal ⚡️🍻🏋🤘
The epic music gets me every time.
Feel like I should be watching Conan the barbarian surf.
natenan of north shoremeria, death slab hunting for crum and his trusty sidekick, subatai
Excellent Footage 😳😳😳🌊🌊🌊
Your psycho hahahaha, love your videos mate, absolutely amazing watching you’s surf these unsurfable waves :)
Fucking insane…to be able to experience these crazy tube rides from the comfort of my living room. Thanks Nate!
Nate the barbarian . The Slab Destroyer. Coming to a Theater Near u
duder .. u need a helmet if you are gonna be out there surfing in such a sketchy spot by yourself. catch a big one and stay safe out there!
Agree, although I imagine it probably is difficult to adjust to surfing with a helmet at first, which may be why some surfers forgo it rather than being a bravado thing. I'm sure the extra weight on the head (however slight) affects the muscle memory.
Bro he is Hawaiian 💪😎
He’s crazy brother
He says he’s impacted by a helmet and ends up falling more and hitting his head more
@@brianh5844doesn't effect JOB, Koa S
You have inspired me to start my POVs again ❤
The @13:30 wave is insane! More people have summited Everest than got barreled like that. Just another day on the slab tour eh!
So gnarly. Big respects
Sick footage 👌
That’s crazy how that whole shelf is just sticking out of the water showing you exactly how the wave is forming. Like the whole slap just got pushed up at a perfect angle to form a slab point break.
All I can say is PROPS! Paddling out at this nasty looking break alone is very sketchy! Nice to see you had some buddies show up. 🤙🏼
Nathon, you're a monster! Stay safe and loving your journey!
