Totally agree with the comment below. Southland Tales was a misunderstood gem that I remember loving when it came out and I'd love to see released on the Arrow Label with as much extra footage, alternate cuts and extra features as possible. Pretty please?

I simply love this man. One of the few true geniuses directors that came out in the last decades. I adore all his 3 movies... the concept, the craft... I keep waiting 4 you my friend... I still hope, i still believe in you... we all need movies like yours
Never heard the claim that Wizard of Oz was received less than favorably.
Cult films are extraordinary masterpieces movies, the box office doesn't tell us if they are good o bad, we define it.
I totally agree with you because in the end, a movie is made to move people regardless of budget or box office results.👍👍

@@muditmalhotra86 I agree. In the end, you gotta have some kind of artistic sensibility for creating a movie like "Donnie Darko". Sometimes i wonder what Richard Kelly would do with the medium of animation.
a great thought! although for someone so keenly interested in the nature of reality itself, i feel he wouldn't go as far as he has in the past with his work in live action. but also, the fact that he's been unconventional throughout his career, it wouldn't surprise me if he changed his medium and made something through animation.
@@muditmalhotra86 In fact, Kelly himself said he wanted to do a "Southland Tales" animated prequel.
oh yes, i totally forgot about it. i now remember, he planned a series of books, online comics, animated works and essentially an omnibus of the entire scope of southland tales. tbh, that film can't be large enough, in its ideas, "prophecies" and its observations. sometimes i wonder if his way of seeing the world is why he isn't welcome in the industry.
