I don't find it surprising that Fitz stays close to mom and big sister during hikes ... cats are smart, they know the world is rough and full of terrors. I really love that more and more people allow their cats to be adventurous, in a safe way. That's way more fun for them than being stuck at home all the time.

I absolutely agree… grieve for a lost pet, but never feel like you’re disrespecting their memory by getting a new one. Pets are family, and no family member would want a loved one to stay sad.

I'm a strong believer that animals choose you, if given the chance, rather than the other way round. Myself and my wife went to choose a standard poodle from a litter of four and we made our choice based on the fact that one of the puppies was very interested by the contents of my wife's handbag and was only satisfied when she let him stick his nose in it. Of course, he turned out to be a fantastic dog who was a gentle giant and was never put out when toddlers would run up and hug him, because he looked like a big fluffy toy to them. Still miss Jake some 6 years later.
That is just so cute. I love it. I tell hubby the cat I adopted chose him because she always runs to where he is when he comes home. He doesn't believe me. He's not much of a cat person. I think he likes her more than he wants to admit
Years ago, I had two cats at different time while having my dog. Both cats loved him and would follow us for the walk without a leash. I miss them so much.
A cat only does what it wants to and, he wants to walk with them so, that's why she can walk him without a leash. He found his soulmate...Coco. I mean...look at that look...2:17...that is a look of total admiration. I LOVE this.
I did dog and cat rescue for 45 years. When an applicant to adopt a cat worried about their dog hurting th cat, I always said "Wait a few days and then make sure the cat doesn't hurt your dog" Cats rule because they have claws and dogs know that a cat can jup on them in a second and claw their eyes. That is why cats are so arrogantly superior, not that that applies in the case of a sweet kitten like Fitz.
To the kitten the dog represents a odd looking mama cat! All works out. Cats learn a lot my mimicking older cats. Fitz just follows the lead of Coco which is why he sticks with y'all off the leash.
Cats stay because they want to. Cats don't go missing. Unlike doggos, they leave people they don't like to find humans they do like. Doggos suffer at the hands of humans because of their unconditional loyalty.
Can we stop and appreciate Fitz's winter gear? Especially the ear coverings.
