VOB is a very talented and courageous young band(all in their early 20s) who have endured religious persecution, hate speech and mail, death threats, etc and have let nothing deter them. They moved to Jakarta maybe a couple of years ago and their situation seems much improved there. They are advocates of female empowerment and the environment. Their fans include Tom Morello, Slash, and Flea (not bad huh!). They've played Wacken, and have a video of their live performance at Transmusicales de Rennes, France that sounds great. Other songs and mvs (sorry Ashlena haha!) I'd recommend are God Allow Me Please to Play Music and Not Public Property. They also do some awesome covers including RATM's Killing in the Name. Terima kasih banyak brother telah mereaksi VOB dengan jujur, mereka bisa dikatakan sebagai 'remaja ajaib', karena mereka baru mengenal alat musik pada usia 14 - 15 tahun (ketika belajar di Sekolah Islam kelas 8) dari guru konselingnya yang bernama Abah Erza, dari laptop gurunya itu mengenal musik-musik metàl. 1 tahun kemudian mereka sudah agak mahir memainkan alat-alat musik dan mencoba mengikuti beberapa festival rock di kota Garut (jarak dari kota Garut ke tempat tinggal mereka sekitar 2 -2,5 jam dengan naik kendaraan, benar-benar dari desa terpencil mereka tinggal. 1-2 tahun kemudian mereka beberapa kali menjuarai festival musik rock, diantaranya sebagai band favorit dan basis terbaik untuk lingkup kota Garut. Tahukah anda mereka telah konser tunggal di Perancis, diundang tampil di Belgia, Belanda, Norwegia, Cekoslovakia, Austria, Swiss, Denmark dan terakhir di beberapa kota di USA. Thank you so much for checking out one of my favorite bands. VOB, The Warning, The Sixsters are all top of my list. At the time of this release they were around 17-18 years old. They are now 23-24. They did a quick tour of the US last year and I was able to fly from Florida to New York to see them. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Their original songs are multi genre, and they always make a cover their own. Search RATM Killing In the Name, Rennes France. It will blow your mind
VoB are definitely talented. I've only heard 3 or 4 of their songs, but the one that stuck with me is God, Allow Me (Please) To Play Music. It's a cry to their God because they were getting a lot of shit from the Muslim religion I believe. It's an emotional song IMHO.

They are good! But my favorite Indonesian artist is Isyana Sarasvati! She's so good! I discovered her with the song Unlock The Key. Her voice is EVERYTHING!

Also, while I hear this comment from Western listeners, I haven't seen it (yet) in comments translated from Bahasa Indonesia. They have global reach, but most of their concerts are in their home market.
@@ashlenamusic one possibility for a next step - you mentioned you'd like to see them live. There's a recording on their youtube channel of a live performance at Transmusicales de Rennes. It's probably the best recording in terms of the combination of audio and video quality and audience energy. I mean, it won't be live for you, but it won't be a studio recording and you'll get a sense of their energy on stage. WRT regard to vocals. . .one of the pieces is an instrumental, so it'll give you a chance to hear them play without thinking about how their vocals sound. It's at 28:56 and it's listed simply as "Instrumental" (it's called Kawani on their album). The arrangement in the live version is very close to the studio arrangement (which is not always the case - sometimes the studio version of a VoB tune will have additional parts added, but there's never a big departure from the live version. They never (to my ear) sound overproduced. Also, they experiment with the arrangements over time and will add, modify and delete things. If you're really into them, it's pretty interesting to hear the differences between the same song recorded at different times.)
