@@bamboo5939 the fireant colony i have of 3 queens and 20 ish workers are never trying to escape, they are awlaways just digging in the sand nest i provided them and sometimes taking a break from digging and just drinking some sugar water. Havent see n any try to escape
I am currently keeping several Iridomyrmex Purpureus colonies as well as a funnel ant colony as well as a big headed and colony, great job with the fire ants!
I wouldnt put the honey so close, out of personal experience. I dropped the honey close and it expanded and one coccoon of my carpenter queens wasnt able to hatch and died.
Thank you for your concern. If you put enough honey that they can eat all at once, this will not happen. If you give them more honey than they can eat at one time, you will have the problem that you described.
As a Retired Ant Keeper who experienced raising fire ants , I advise you to be very careful when caring for Fire Ants. They can grow significantly-into the millions💀-if you keep feeding them protein. Additionally, their stingers are quite painful, so it's best to avoid being stung. You can control their growth by reducing their food intake. Fire Ants are also escape artists. They will use debris to help them escape, so it's crucial to ensure your barrier is secure. Due to these challenges, I no longer keep them myself. 😢 Thank you for reading.
Thanks for the info! I figured I could limit their growth with less protein. I also have been stung by wild colonies on many occasions (not very pleasant).
I think one of the queens in the fire a t colony is u fertilized
A polygynous fire ant colony? Thats gonna grow fast and be a cool watch, but be careful bro that could destroy your ecosystem if they got out 😂
They are already one of the most common ants in my area 😆
@@Antsusa377very invasive bro 😂
@@bamboo5939 invasive yet cool lol
Wow. I have always dreamed of getting fire ants!
They are pretty widespread in the Unites States, the only challenge is escape prevention and their food demand!
Trust me don’t I have a colony of fires it’s terrible
@@GreysonLambert-sy7pt just cuz u suck at maintaining them doesnt mean others shouldent get them
@@ARobloxTravelerYes but its a pain in the ass to keep them, they will always try to escape if there is an opportunity

That was the same colony the week before, and the test tube didn't need to be cleaned.
