How funny the timing! My sister-in-law just hosted a Swiss Raclette dinner yesterday. We were all fortunate enough to visit my husband’s family in Switzerland and they hosted a summer Raclette for us outside. In Switzerland, instead of charcuterie, they grill sausages along with the vegetables on top. It’s memorable no matter which route you go.
Swiss-American here. We always do a raclette during the holidays - either on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve (we alternate with a Cheese fondue). Since we live in the Southern US, we’ve started adding grilled shrimp to the mix. Not traditional, but yummy! I love your idea of the eggs. I will definitely add them to our repertoire!
We’ve been doing Raclette parties for years! We have a cheese maker near us that makes an award winning Raclette and it’s so delicious! Our girls choose Raclette parties for their birthdays and we always do parties during the holidays! So fun and so GOOD!
Wow it's totally a new thing for me.this melting cheese machine is amazing.i am already thinking about how and where to use this racllete.thanx for introducing us to these new ideas
I'm so glad you loved it! It's definitely a fun and easy way to entertain! And for dessert, you could melt a little chocolate bar and marshmallows in those pans and make some s’mores ha ha ha!
J adore la raclette! Trop bon! Super pour rester avec les amis ou la famille sans se lever de table pour cuisiner😊❤ maintenant il ne faut pas la faire trop souvent à cause du cholestérol😂...merçi Beth
Thank you, Beth! I think I've heard Germans like it very much for a simple New Eve's crowd, and I know Austrians love Raclette, besides the Swiss and the French. Looks absolutely genious to me!! Will grab one of those machines some time soon!! 😊 (My hubby surprises me with a secret preorder of your cookbook, a Raclette machine will only make things better).
My husband and I moved to the Pyrénées-Atlantique region of France (from Southern California) at the beginning of November, and we decided to have Raclette for our New Year’s Eve celebration. So, we bought a raclette machine, stopped by Les Halles for new potatoes, cornichons, olives, charcuterie, and two types of raclette (traditional and piment d’espelette), and enjoyed a lovely and delicious casual holiday meal for two. It was delicious, and perfect for the colder weather. I love the idea of cooking eggs in the raclette machine! I will try that next time, perhaps for brunch as you suggested.
Yes! The egg addition really opens up all kinds of possibilities ha! So yummy! How has the move been going? The weather is a bit of a shock, coming from 30 years of So-Cal winters lol! But so many other wonderful things here that balance it out :)
@ Very well, other than being cramped in a small AirBnB for the last 3 months 😂. We are really loving the people, the lifestyle, the slower pace (and of course, the food). The purchase of our own apartment is scheduled to complete on 14 February, so we will be able to finally settle into our own home.

I have fond, happy memories of 1986 Raclette party in Germany with my husband's good friend whom he grew up with. I have never even heard of Raclette and I was so surprised at how much fun it was and so easy. I can't remember what exactly we had to cook but I remember there being eggs and cheese at least. I have never had a raclette again but I do know it was lots of fun.
@@EntertainingWithBeth Funny you should say that but after I watched your raclette I looked it up and you can buy them in Australia. I remember the one we used was round. You can buy small round ones here, big ones too but a small one would do us. And so the fun begins again.
Beth, I just made your slow cooker chicken cacciatore and wanted to tell you how delicious it was. You made that post about a year ago. Another winner. Thank you for sharing 😊.
Fun and looked yummy! I do fondue! But now one of these Racellete with the Fondue pots with other goodies would be brilliant! Thanks Beth for showing us! ❤
I LOVE THIS! I have an individual raclette that uses a tea light - this is next level. I love the potatoes - I would sprinkle tarragon on them too! YUMMY
This looks so fun! It's the adult version of the Easy Bake Oven! 😂 Love it! Also, how is your Family in SoCal with all the fires. Pray they are safe.🙏🏼
Bon jour Beth, and Bonne Année!!!This is SUPER! I love this idea!! It really is a good way to entertain and much nicer and safer than the good old fondue (I hate the smell of the oil and bouillon that lingers for days). Your presentation was the bomb with all the variables. I chuckled at how neat you are, if it had been me, the house would have been a mess. Leave it for the professionals I always say 😄. Thank you for another fabulous idea!! Bisous 😘😘
@@EntertainingWithBeth I totally forgot about the editing, you rascal 😉!! I went straight to Amazon to find a Raclette machine (grill), and you are right as rain when you said basic to high-end. I did not associate your Raclette machine with one that my parents had a long time ago, as a matter of fact, I had forgotten all about that contraption until I watched your video! Bisous 😘😘
Super fun! We often make this in the summer outside. Usually with some type of meat that’s grilled on top alongside with vegetables. We also serve it with sour cream. I also sometimes use port salut cheese as its more economical here where I live (Norway)
Fun like Fondue! One thing I regret is not going to a raclette restaurant when I was in Paris in November. I saw people eating it through the window and it looked so heavy but I will definitely try this at home. I heard Germans really enjoy raclette for Christmas too
We used to do raclette and now you made me want to do it again! I am personally looking for a good resource for whole glace fruits for Christmas next year. I am wanting whole pears (but not fake bright green), whole orange or other citrus, whole apricots, plums, figs, etc. for a decoration for a Christmas cake I want to make. Hi Beth, great video as usual. You should try the raclette cheese with cumin or white wine, they're great too. The eggs are a good idea, I'll definitely try them next time.
If you can’t find raclette you could use Gruyère cheese, Morbier, Reblochon, Swiss cheese in slices, Bleu de Gex, Monterey Jack, or Cheddar cheese. Anything that easily melts is a good bet!
