*FUN FACT: Babyface said Whitney recorded this in 1 take, because she was in a rush to get to the shopping mall.* ✅🔥

Vocal queen! This genre is new jack-swing and it was popular from late 80's to early 90's. Her 1992 live performance of this song which she sang in a medley is absolutely FIRE🔥 She killed it with her dancers

Whitney used to date Jermaine before he got married. He was the inspiration for the song "Saving All My Love." Notice how similar the male actor looks like Jermaine in that video. She's a family friend so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Mike even wrote or produced the song for her. It's definitely got his imprint.

My favorite live performance of this song is part of a medley Whitney Houston live 1992 - I'm Your Baby Tonight, My Name is Not Susan and Who Do You Love. I think you would really enjoy that performance. Her energy is off the charts! And at the end of Who Do You Love she and one of her background singers TAKE IT TO CHURCH!
Another good one is SNL for the vocals. Not a performance with dancers though.
She also does it in her Welcome Home Heroes Concert but you can tell she was a bit tired when she got to the song

@@MAJreactions You’re not wrong, it was a tribute to more than Michael tho. Whitney dated Jermaine Jackson and knew Michael, Janet and the rest of them. Her duet with Jermaine Nobody Loves Me (Like You Do) is awesome and was one of her first recordings. Check it out. Peace

@@MAJreactions Whitney always paid homage to those before her. Although everyone tries to say this was a Michael Jackson inspired song/video it really isn’t. The hat and white pantsuit is a tribute to Dietrich. I will tell you that Whitney sang this song in one take. She was in Atlanta recording this album and Babyface wanted her to at least record one song, Whitney told him she had plans to meet Pebbles at the mall so she is only doing it once-and that’s what we all hear on the studio track that one take.

nah michael wasnt the inspo...actors/scenes from classic movies was. the all black with the pony tail and high water socks was from a scene taken from the 1957 movie "funny face" starring Audrey Hepburn. the white suit with the hat was a moment for Marlene Dietrich, The scene with whitney x3 is the Supremes.

Her outfit was copying an old Audrey Hepburn movie. MJ got his inspiration from old time dancers such as Gene Kelly. Hence the short pants with socks showing.

I had never thought of how similar Michael Jackson was with that type of look & style of dance as you pointed out in this video as he was a slight bit more removed from IT.
Whitney Houston is NOT getting this from Michael Jackson - AT ALL. You are just unaware of previous decades with looks/fashions/influences etc.
Whitney is saying that she will be whatever you want, so -
    - you see her dressed up 1960s, Supremes style (that other girl groups also did, usually with a slight little less glitz. That was with the heavy eye makeup, hair on her head & form-fitting dress to her knees.)
    - you see her main style throughout the video in most places was 1980s fashion - (the jeans torn at the knees & leather [or else they would be jean] jackets)
    - the style you thought she got from MJ - with the all black - was a style from the (early?) 1970s. The people who encased this style were called Beatniks & were intellectual & into poetry etc. (slightly before my time so I don't know too much about them.) HOWEVER, I DO KNOW that she had the style down EXACTLY! (It was always all black clothing, from tight pants & turtlenecks, hair in ponytails at the exact height as Whitney portrayed, those hoop earrings [which actually came back in mid 80s] & yes, the black shoes & white socks - just as she wore. That hunched over, pointed toe dance move - was ALSO THEIRS - NOT MICHAEL JACKSON'S!!! - Micheal Jackson only took the style & dance a 1/2 step away from the Beatniks so I hadn't even picked up on his copy until you pointed it out today - & I grew up with Michael Jackson's music (right from the Jackson 5) & knew all about the Beatnik style (which I always admired.)
(Her style [& Michael Jackson's also] with the suit & that type of hat is 1940s I believe - based on a kind of gangster style of Al Capone etc.)
So there you go, you've learned something new tonight - if you read comments on videos you reviewed a year earlier. Take care. 🙂

I can tell that your young and its okay but let me school you about they various looks in the video. NONE OF IT, was a reference to Michael Jackson. The look when she was in all white and hat, was old glam, possibly referring to Fred Astarie. Next, when she was in the 60's three girl group was a reference to the group called "The Supremes." Lastly, the all black out fit with the white socks was a reference to one and only 1950's actress named Audrey Hepburn. This was a classic look for her. So actually, Michael took alittle of these looks from the older generation before him. Plus, Michael doesn't move like this. And this music is definitely a Babyface production. Maybe do alittle research first, that way, you understand alittle but clearer. Other than that!🙂👍🏽

covering the greatest female vocalist of all time doesn't seem like the best idea, even for the girls who can hit all notes, but leave it to fantasia barrino to have the chutzpah to borrow the hook from "i'm your baby tonight" and singlehandedly turn whitney's classic into something new, that's entirely her own ...."change your mind" ua-cam.com/video/3_bLz9nlEBs/v-deo.html
