Thanks guys and some good laughs there! Also, cheese is a no go for us lactose intolerant vegans! We don't have a Shake Shack in my area but it's good to be aware! ;D
I am really torn when it comes to vegetarian or vegan substitutes for meat. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years now, and even if it now is more because of how the animals are treated, it started because I stopped liking meat. So I can't eat substitutes options that are supposed to be as similar to meat as possible, for example beyond burger. I rather have lenthil or halloumi burgers. But I am still very happy that there are options like these for the people who want to eat meat but can't, or choose not to. So I hope that this video show that there are vegan and vegetarian options which taste good and not like grass.
In USA Burger King’s plant-based Whopper is called the Impossible Whopper because the patty is made by Impossible Foods. I wonder if the patty is the same in UK and cant be called “Impossible” because of licensing or if it’s made by a different company.
This! Even tho they are heavily enjoying meat (understandably because meat is huge in korean food culture) but it would be cool to hear more what korea has to offer to vegans these days!
As a vegan it's pretty annoying seeing how ppl have such low expectations of vegan food. They automatically think it tastes trash or something... These days vegan alternatives have improved drastically and there is so much to choose from. I hope ppl would just try them without any expectations
There is plenty of good vegan food. But dairy vegan alternatives are usually terrible and vegan cheeses are at best inoffensive in most cases (said as someone who can't tolerate lactose so I've tried a lot of them and they are absolutely nowhere near actual cheese and in a lot of cases are just horrible). The pea protein based meat substitutes are significantly better than soy based ones.
You're right, they've greatly improved. I for one grew up with tofu being like the main glorified vegan option so I think that alone scared many away. Since then I've changed to oat milk just because flat out it tastes better than cow milk. The vegan cheese I've tried has been passable, still has a bit of an aftertaste not quite like the real thing. I've tried impossible bugers, vegan chorizo, and chicken strips all of which surprised me at how much like the real thing they were. (Even my bf was fooled by the pea protein based chorizo and enjoyed it) In that regard you are 100% right. However, there is still the problem of availability. You go to big cities and I bet you will have an easier time finding that stuff in store... dairy nation in the midwest however... there's like 1 dairy alternative for cheese, butter, cream cheese, each... Thankfully milk alternatives at least are becoming more readily available.
I think it's also that a lot of people don't realize that a huge amount of food we eat is vegan by nature. They hear "vegan" and assume you have to do some weird food wizardry to make the food. It also doesn't help that a lot of vegan people are so militant about it.
@@coraline1503 they literally did a video on a vegan food item, i should be allowed to express my desire for more similar videos in the future. veganism is everywhere, and you don’t have to be “a vegan channel” to do content on it

As a good ol'southern boy from South Carolina, I must give huge props to Ollie's southern accent while reading about the KFC Vegan Burger! Nailed it! It was awesome! Keep up the great job, boys!
As a Southerner, I'll have to say Ollie's southern accent isn't bad.
i want to make something clear that is most vegans are not vegan because of it being healthy but because of ethics.. soo i love unhealthy fast food but dislike animal exploitation :D being vegan does not mean to be healthy and eat salad all the time but simply not consuming animal products
Exactly!
When i see a new thumbnail video on my front page i feel happy and know i'm going to laugh even when i'm sad
I don't care if it's the most silly video, or even if you just laugh about stupid jokes for 20 minutes i would watch all of it
It's almost like for a bit hanging out with friends laughing about anything
I'm really thankful to you guys~

Same! I kept on refreshing my youtube recommended videos since nothing looks interesting. And suddenly, Jolly video popped up.
Ikr..me too...
I was so dizzy from writing my paper lol...and Jolly notif pop out...and yeayy!!!
I’m not even a vegetarian, but when I go to BK, I always get the Impossible Whopper.

It’s good to give your body a break from red meat when you get the chance

Ollie's southern accent was surprisingly good but still made me laughed until I cried 😂😂😭🤣
Hearing Ollie's Kentucky accent makes me wanna watch you play an accents game , I feel like Ollie will nail that
Josh: "The Colonel is dead, surely."
Me waiting for Olly to say: "I'm certain he's dead. And don't call me Shirley."
I am glad you're finally trying some vegan burgers! There is so much good vegan food nowadays!
Still heavily processed though. I know several vegans and they eat a lot more processed foods than I do.
@@annainspain5176 vegans are not always searching that purpose.
I literally just watched The Half Blood Prince last night. Haha. Love the name.
@@annainspain5176 a lot of vegans don’t go vegan for health reasons but for moral/ethical reasons so their aim isn’t so much eating whole foods all the time as it is just generally refraining from consumption of animal products!! personally i like to have a balance between whole plant-based foods and vegan junk food to make sure i’m getting a variety of nutrients 😄
@@annainspain5176 you do realise this is a fast food video…
I love the casual way that Ollie picks up and eats a bit of food that fell down into his lap :D
Burger king in Aus(Hungry Jacks) has 2 options it took its veg berger and turned it into a vegan option then the vegitarian option with the new patty from V2 which Hungry jacks invested in. Also maccas has also tried here in Aus a few times and given up. not sure about their latest atempt though.
Ollie’s southern accent is on point lol
Vegans aren't always vegans for health reasons
Yeah I'm that way. I just find flesh, and blood, and veins a really gross thing to eat. But I still love my junk food.
@@QuantumLeap89 Thats called vegetarian?
I literally never met any vegetarian or vegan who choose that not for moral reasons
Honestly, the Impossible Whopper (that's what it's called in the US) is the only thing I get from Burger King and is one of my go-to fast food items
It's honestly better than the normal whopper patty. I love meat, and I can honestly say that the impossible whopper is a better eating experience than the normal whopper usually.
In my country it's called the vegetable whopper and it's so good I even crave it sometimes when I never even liked burgers. We also have vegetarian nuggets and a vegetable "long chicken" made from the same thing the nuggets are made from (I'm guessing) and it's really good as well
@@KhronicD I don't think I've had a regular beef Whopper but it wouldn't surprise me
@@martaribeiro96 honestly me too, my body will ask for it specifically pretty often, which never happens with other fast food
Goodness!!! I wish I be working with these guys right there. Sounds like so much fun and hard work! I have a crush on Ollie doing that Kentucky accent!! 😂😂
When I remember "imitation" meatfor vegan I remember tempeh, a food ingredient made from soybeans. It's one of the foods that comes from Indonesia but I saw in some vlogs which showed that in England there were many who made tempeh and sold it. Maybe you two are interested in trying fried tempeh.
I've been to vegetarian restaurants that used it, and enjoyed what I ordered. But I have to be careful about sodium
@@LindaC616 sodium 🤔? Please can explain to me what you mean?
I was wondering what salt was meant for but out of concern our perceptions were different. So I'm not sure if it's about salt. Oh I mean the salty taste.. not referring to the salt.
@@hestianurmasari no, just that they prepare it with a lot of salt
@@LindaC616 aaah so my guess is right. Then is that a restaurant from a country that uses tempeh as its dish? And may I know how the tempeh is cooked (sauteed, fried)?
Maybe next time you can try making a dish with tempeh at home. Or a simple one to make fried tempeh.
honestly jolly makes me very jolly always look forward to your guys video no matter what video it is ty ❤
Wow Ollie's Kentucky accent is incredible! 😂
Thanks!
as a vegan that sees your channel constantly, I am really grateful that you did this video.
2:30 im levitating up to heaven slowly like Constantine till Ollie's face of disgust sent me back to the ground 🤣
Hi, I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but when I go for a fast food burger I always order the vegan option!
I just feel like they taste better and the meat from these fast food chains is just something I'd rather not put in my body😂.
Anyways great video as always, love your content🔥
Burger king employee here to rain on your parade - the 'vegan' whopper, isn't actually vegan - it's broiled on the exact same broiler as the meat burgers, soaking in all of those meat juices and flavours as it goes through. Sure the PATTY may be crafted with plants and other vegan ingredients, however they are called plant BASED burgers for a reason, and the cooking process nulifies any veganity - unless SPECIFICALLY asked to microwave they told me when I began preparing them (the same microwave that heats up all the non vegan items so yeah still not really vegan even with the lesser option there.
There's a simple reason why it's the best mimic, and nobody should ever trust a meat server to provide a wholistic non meat product.
These videos bring me so much joy ><
Clicked so fast-
My faves are definitely McPlant and the KFC burger... unfortunately the vegan whopper isn't officially certified vegan because they cook it on the same grill as real meat... bit disappointing for those of us that can't eat it because of that 😭😭😭
You can ask them to clean the grill before cooking it
In Australia they apparently have a different grill for the burges at Hungry Jacks.
Most restaurants use the same grill. It is still considered vegan because you're not directly contributing to animal suffering. That being said - the vegan whopper uses impossible meat and while that is considered vegan now they used to test on animals. :/
@@jennifert8542 As someone who works in BKs as a contractor, not an actual BK employee. That is NOT going to happen. It takes at least an hour to break down the broiler and clean it properly. Many places don't do it right even outside of this specific interaction. Google "Nieco broilers" and look at how they're built. You can't just wipe them down.
Wouldn't cooking in a different/exclusive grill be kind of bad for the environment overall?
More electricity/gas consumption
Idk lol
2:34 ollie's face expressions!! he can be a professional commercial actor 😂
Good job Ollie with the Kentucky accent...
I'm from Michigan but have family that live there. You did PERFECT.. At least that's how they sound to me. Lol.
Ollie's impersonation of Colonel Sanders is exactly what I always thought the Colonel sounded like. 😂
Their reactions are golden 😂😂
lol that expression shift as soon as he said "Flame Grilled ..... Soy--based Patty" was just priceless
As a vegan, I appreciate more fast food places having vegan or vegetarian options because sometimes I just want to eat with my family without having to make my own food. Being social usually involves food so having an option when going out with others makes me happy
All y'all need to come to Vegas and sample Plant Powered fast food and our No-Butcher Deli.
When I want a Maccies, but a big mac will make me feel guilty, I get a McPlant. It's genuinely not bad.
"healthy" is such a common misconception when it comes to vegans. we too love fast food. i do find i eat more veggies then when i wasnt vegan, so that's a bonus, but i still eat lots of junk food! gonna try my first mcplant very soon ! im so glad here in canada lots of our fast food places have a vegan option, but UK has way more so im excited.
Kudos, Ollie, the "Kentucky" accent was at least several shades of Southern.
Out of these, I've tried the Impossible Whopper and the Shroom Burger. Both are good. One isn't really a burger replacement, though. But, the Impossible Whopper was good enough for me to have a few times in place of a regular Whopper, just because.
We don't have the other menus from the chains here in Indonesia, but I've tried the whooper, and I kinda like it.
When I try it, I didn't miss my burger, I just enjoy the entire whooper 🍔
Whopper mbak bukan Whooper, whoop whoop... . Hhe.

One key point most people miss, some people chose not to eat meat for so many reasons, their health and the environment
Tried the vegan burger from Burger King in South Korea about a year ago and honestly they were really good!
0:13 "What comes to mind is natural, healthy" lol, as someone that enjoys lot's of vegan items, there's a ton of unhealthy and processed vegan foods. Tons of the candies, chips/crisps, cookies (standard Oreos!), cereals, candied nuts, baked goods, cereals, etc, that I've seen enjoyed on this channel are vegan. Even one of their favorite's, Buc-cee's beaver nuggets, might be vegan, depending on what the source of the "natural butter flavor" is (the 'natural' doesn't necessarily mean it came from real butter)
0:42 As a vegan myself, I can say without doubt I would very much NOT be glad to leave the Mcdonald's life behind!
LoL I didn't know I needed to hear Ollie's kentuky accent until now, LOVED IT !
What a time to be alive for vegetarians/pescatarians! Especially those who have recently switched up their dietary choices -- with all these plant-based foods being introduced, definitely not going to "have it as hard" as opposed to even 5 years ago.
This is one of my favorite jolly episodes
As a vegetarian, this is the first usable consumer advice I have ever gotten from this channel. And it was still ridiculous.
Love me some Jolly but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE me some Jolly vegan reviews. The vegan Whopper is the best! It's called the Impossible Whopper here in the States because it's made with vegan Impossible Meat. White Castle also has an Impossible Slider you need to try! They might even still have a black bean slider on the menu.
Out of all these vegan options, I really liked A&W Plant-based nuggets but they were only available for 5? or 7days, a bit salty but it was good. I'm not a vegan but I just really liked nuggets 😆
yes!! that was one of my fav plant-based items
Goodness, I needed this silliness today. Thank you 😊
Ollie’s absolute devastation when he realised the shake shack wasnt vegan
2:42 Mr. Bean face expression 🤣🤣..lol
gutted they didn't try the BK Chicken royale! One of the best ones out there!
Love when these guys upload
Thanks guys and some good laughs there! Also, cheese is a no go for us lactose intolerant vegans! We don't have a Shake Shack in my area but it's good to be aware! ;D
What do you mean by "cheese is a no go for us lactose intolerant vegans", dont all vegans not eat cheese?
2:31
Please 😂 Ollie's facial expression switch when Josh said SOY BASED patty. 😂
u gotta try Dutch vegan fast food!!! they are really onto something there!
Thanks. I was just thinking about trying one of these.
1:19 i love how it took josh 2 seconds to get that joke
What the hell is a McPlant? In India we get McAloo Tikki burgers and those are heavenly.
Those sound good... we don't get that option in the States
In USA Burger King’s plant-based Whopper is called the Impossible Whopper because the patty is made by Impossible Foods. I wonder if the patty is the same in UK and cant be called “Impossible” because of licensing or if it’s made by a different company.
Please do more vegan/vegetarian content!!! Maybe even in the Korean cuisine! Let’s give that lifestyle more attention :)
this is not a vegan channel!
This! Even tho they are heavily enjoying meat (understandably because meat is huge in korean food culture) but it would be cool to hear more what korea has to offer to vegans these days!
Yes, neither is it one about meat so what’s your point?
They did do an entire video dedicated to vegan Korean food, if you haven't seen it yet.
The editing at 2:30 is spot on! 😂
Josh and Ollie haven't had good experiences with vegan food...
Ikrrrr
I think it's also that a lot of people don't realize that a huge amount of food we eat is vegan by nature. They hear "vegan" and assume you have to do some weird food wizardry to make the food. It also doesn't help that a lot of vegan people are so militant about it.
idk why but Ollie's kentucky accent sounded a bit like Goofy from disney to me lololol I loved it!
McVeggie is amaaaazing! I'd totally switch a regular burger for that one (except CBO... CBO is everything)
Ollie doing the accent was the best part of the whole thing and how josh was about to bite it but kept on laughing
I freakin love the vegan whopperrrr
And I love that you guys made a video about vegan food again, i appreciate it!
Burger king stated upon the release of the plant based whopper that it's cooked on the same grill as meat so isn't technically vegan.
as a vegan, i would really love if you guys did more vegan reviews!!

@@coraline1503 they literally did a video on a vegan food item, i should be allowed to express my desire for more similar videos in the future. veganism is everywhere, and you don’t have to be “a vegan channel” to do content on it
