hmong wouldn't know what love is without GOD. "we have all these books to reason to God, but God is not the God to reason to, but the God we cannot reason without."-Sye

hi everyone, i really like the singing and the meaning of the song. But I have a question and concern regarding Hmong. Now that we don't have a country of our own, no matter how well we done, we are still Hmong American. Our children, grandchildren, and their grandchildren, they will soon adopt western culture and lifestyle. Nothing we can do because we don't have a country of our own. What can we do? How can we answer and explain these question concerns more in depth. When thing about this, I am so sad, tear run down my cheek.
Tou Xiong I disagree. Even though partially you are correct, I believe it's up to YOU to cherish that culture and pass it down to your children and so on.
We're Hmong American as you say. Therefore we must adapt in order to "get by". It's like saying you can't always be religious in certain areas. For example if a state says gay marriage is legal and you bash or go against it due to religious beliefs then majority will not side with you and even look down on you. So why us and our children will have to adapt to American ways is so they'll understand it's way and not break any morals etc etc. People keep saying we'll forget our culture but how many of us actually adores our old ways? Sure we may all love our language and clothing, or our Hmong New Years but be honest....Many have destroyed the ways for some, thus our children will turn to a more "freedom" style. Don't think I'm making sense lol but basically it comes down to strict rules (Hmong style) versus more freedom (American style). We can't stop our children from adapting to the American ways. Cause basically at the age of five they'd have to go to school and what do school teach? And for 12-14 years they'd be stuck with Americans at school. So there's no way to prevent the western way of life. Unless you forced our old traditions onto younger children, there's no way they'll look at our culture as we did. Something we miss, cause simply they won't know the way. (Okay I'm done. Don't know if it even answered your concerns but anywho.)
Tou Xiong I agree. Since we don't have a country kids go school start learning English and difference language. Soon they know less and less Hmong language same with culture. Since no one want to learn our Hmong culture it might dis pear. Every generation of our Hmong kids knowing less how to speak Hmnog and knowing less of our culture also some time our Hmong people dis respectful to our culture and our Hmong people. It might be the fate of our Hmong people to be like this. I'm just saying what I think if I say something wrong hope you guy forgive me I still young don't really know what I'm talking about.
@Jake Rybec, A powerful Speech is made of words that are filled with passion, emotion, and dedication. A Beautiful and influential Song is also filled with the same elements as a powerful speech. During the Great Depression, America spent millions of Dollars to keep the theaters open. Why? Because they knew that if the theaters are open, the American Culture will not die. FDR Poured money into music, and art to influence. That is what songs like this are doing. Influence, change and become.
