I wish someone were to make an expanded version of this... Like, not extending the song that is already there, but making a full blown cover of Imperial March in this mood / style
What I appreciate most here is that it sounds a bit like there's one last stand of the good and noble days of the Old Republic (0:30) against the looming darkness of the emerging Empire.
It's not the same without the giant engines firing up in the background as the music picks up. That was a perfect sound effect to add to that sequence.
The fact that Solo canonized the Imperial March as an actual piece of music in universe, just makes this feel like old WW2 military music with the trumpets. Fitting as the clones are portrayed as WW2/Vietnam vets in TCW.
Imagine being at the theatre, it’s 2002, AOTC opening night, you are watching the movie and the scene where Obi Wan is showed the clone army kicks in and then this starts playing.....
Imagine this music playing as the capsule with the first humans slowly descents into Mars orbit and when the first humans step out 0:36 hits super hard
My headcanon is that this was the Republic's anthem in the Star Wars universe and when it changed to the Empire, it kept the anthem, only changing it slightly. Thus, trying to show people that "It's the same old Republic, you don't need to worry!"
Nice observation, but it’s only soundtrack, it doesn’t exist within the actual canon. But yes, the use of the theme means that The Empire is a corruption of the republic transformed into an autocrat dictatorship.
Song title is actually Confrontation with Count Dooku from the AOTC OST. This video starts around the 2:39 mark. As you can see it ends abrubtly and was ended right before it enters into Across the Stars.
Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Attack of the Clones release. I never saw this movie in Theatres, I didn't see any of the prequals in theatres as a matter of fact, but this movie easily kicked off one of the best star wars medias ever: The Clone Wars
Bro, finally someone who appreciates this movie! Honestly, the expanded media this movie launched alone is the reason why it's my favorite Star Wars movie! Not only that, but also the world building it did!
@The Cambot I don't know of the guy you responded to, but aotc is my 2nd favorite star wars movie, so maybe I have similar reasons to like this movie. One aspect is simply the era the movie is set in and all the amazing locations. To me the (pre-) clone wars era is easily the best out of all star wars eras, in terms of characters, planets, vehicle- and character designs, and so on. I love all the Obi-Wan scenes, I like everything onward from anakins search for his mother, to the factory scene, the great battle up to the final duel against dooku (So basically the third act in a whole). I actuall also like the politics. Only thing I really dislike, is the anakin/padme romance, which unfortunately takes up a big chunk of this movie, but all the other aspects and especially the amazing world its set in, let me kinda overlook those flaws.
@The Cambot Yeah, I also don't find them to be THAT terrible like everyone says, i rather find them a bit boring because they take up so much time of the movie. If there were less of those scenes/if the scenes were a bit shorter I wouldn't really mind them
@The Cambot It's just a bit too much imo but I can understand why you think so. In the end I don't find them terrible either, just not as flawless as they could have been. Attack of the Clones (and all of the prequels really) has a great story in general. It may not be perfectly executed everywhere in the movies, but overall they are very enjoyable and I just love the story and the lore behind this movies by far the most in all of star wars.
I think what annoys me the most, is when the obi-wan scenes play out and it gets really interesting with all the secret jango fett/cloning/kamino stuff, and then suddenly it gets interruptet by padme and anakin once again. Maybe they shouldn't have cut so much from one story arc to another and let the different scenes be longer. But that's just my impression, don't know if anyone shares this feel of mine
As the Rebels fled, the 501st gathered around a burning bunker and let out a cheer that shook the stars. The Rebellion was done, the Death Star was being rebuilt, bigger than ever. Order had finally returned to the Galaxy, in no small part due to the efforts of the fighting men of the 501st.
