    Thanks man. I’m definitely concerned for your safety as mini has accidentally put your steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. Crazy that made it through quality control.

    The best troubleshooting video for Mini cooper soft top. Comments are valuable too. I had to move the windows down and then up twice - the last step I was missing (after putting the rear parcel shelf in place, and made sure the fuses were fine). None of the other videos will tell you this!

      Cheers Johnny, appreciate that..
      Looks like a few people have benefitted from the vid, which is what I hoped for.
      Had I not been able to fix the roof issue there would have been a video posted if a mini on fire 🔥🤣
      All the best.

      There is a screw on the back of the motor that if you undo it allows you to put the roof back up manually.

    Hi I'm having the same problem R52 2006 my sunroof open and all the windows opens up and down very well and unlock the both side clamps on the windscreen but it doesn't pull back the roof ND it flushes the red light... Then when I close the sunroof the motor at the back runs ND the clamps on the windscreen locks and windows closes.... Any idea were I can have a look at?? Please help

    • @kylebyatt1

      Try the parcel shelf microswitch first.
      Do the hold window button down and keep your finger on it for seconds, and then up and keep your finger on it for 10 seconds.. REPEAT 4 TIMES!
      Then try.
      If all your fuses look good, then it looks like the module shown in the vid is your issue.

    Hi
    Can anyone on this thread tell me what needs to be removed to get to the 4 relays and control module, and is it passenger side , many thanks, video really helpful with virtually nothing on the net about this 👍🏻

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  9 місяців тому

      Hello Alan,
      If my memory serves me...
      Pull out the rear seat base and then you can take out the back rests.
      Module is on passenger side.
      The side panel should be then free to access.
      Think I pulled the door seal and then lifted and pulled at the panel until it popped off.
      There might be screws or pop studs...buy I can't honestly remember.

    Hello. I'm Japanese so I don't know what you are talking about, but if the roof doesn't open, does that mean I should replace the module?

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  4 роки тому +1

      Try realigning the micro switches on the rear parcel shelf, and check fuses first!
      Then try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect, and then resetting the windows down and then up twice. ( like in the end of the vid)
      If this still doesn't get your roof working, I would try replacing the module 👍

    was the mosule the only problem.
    Just replaced the Foot well module (rebuilt actually) and the convenience features now work, door locks, interior lights, and front door windows now go down BUT the top still doesn't work. No blown fuses, and not sure but cant tell about the relays. Did the module in your video fix the issue? Mine is a 2012 Mini Cooper.
    Thanks

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  4 роки тому

      Hello Jon,
      I can't really comment on your 2012 as I am not sure if everything is the same set up.
      But I would be cheto see if the boot and parcel shelf micro switches are the same, and if so give them a jiggle about. Then check the motor connections and fuses. If the hood motor is making no noise at all and the fuses are fine, it could be the motor.
      If all that looks good enough and there is power going to all, I'd replace the module. 👍

    I have an issue were the sunroof bit comes open then goes to come down unlocks the seconde part but if a keep trying it will finally work does the battery have to be fully charged are the car need to be warm

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  2 роки тому

      Always good to keep your battery topped up, but doubt your car has to be warm for the roof to work.
      Sounds like the 2nd operation of the roof opening is intermittent.
      I would make sure the parcel shelf sensor switches are positioned properly.
      If still not working, I would disconnect the battery for 20 mins and then try the all windows down and up again repeating twice ( in the video), and see if that resets the roof .
      Good luck!

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  3 роки тому

      Hello mate,
      Try disconnecting the battery for an hour. Reconnect and then do the all windows down and then the all windows up thing twice (shown later in the video).... This resets the windows and roof.
      If still no joy.. Make sure parcel shelf and latch switches are good.
      Basically follow the vid starting with what I was doing at the end of the vid to the start.
      If still no luck, try finding a replacement module.
      Best of luck 🤞

    Hi mate I have a convertible where there is no power to roof at all the windows go up and down there is al so no power to heated rear window are the two connected which fuse controls that circuit thanks in advance I do have spare module and switch which last owner gave me with car

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  Рік тому

      Morning
      Doubt the two are connected as one will be the roof motor and the others the heated window.
      Check fuses in the passenger foot well, wires and connections first.
      Bypass the parcel shelf micro switches. If still no luck, throw in the module and see how it goes.

    Hi buddy I have the same issue with a R52 that I have just bought I can't get my roof to go past the sunroof stage but I can't get the panel off to get to the controller you mentioned because the roof trap it....any help would be appreciated
    Regards

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  3 роки тому

      Hello Tony,
      Sorry to hear of your roof troubles!
      A few things to try before pulli g things apart...
      Disconnect your battery for 30 mins, connect it again and then keep your finger on the (all) windows down button. When windows are down, keep your finger on the button for 5 seconds and then put them up and keep your finger on again for another 5 secs. Repeat this cycle twice!.... This resets the Windows and potentially the roof.
      If this does not work....
      The parcel shelf in the boot sits on and engages two micro switches! Make sure these are functioning properly. I cut them off my partners car and just joined the wires as I didn't see the point in them!
      Short of the long is, just makes sure all fuses, electrical connections, roof motor and the parcel shelf are working.
      If these seem fine, then it would point towards the module.
      Pull out rear seat (someone has done video of that).
      The roof shouldn't hinder you being able to take the panel off or at least manoeuvre it out of the way so you can get your hand in there!
      There are a few screws that need to be removed and it is easier to move when the rear window is down.
      Best of luck with it!

    • @anthonyhopkins3463
      @anthonyhopkins3463 3 роки тому

      Hi first thanks for taking the time to reply I have watched your video and have carried out all of what you have suggested I have also replaced the BCM as the rear windows would not operate and the headlights were coming on with the sidelights now the rear windows operation from the switch is correct and the headlights operates as they should the microswitches in the boot have been bypassed as I don't see the need for them either the side panel is very loose with all screws out but is trapped by the roof just behind the rear windows and I can't get the panel out to get to the roof module and relays if I could get the panel off at least I could check the relays and put a replacement module in once again thank you for your reply

    • @kylebyatt1
      @kylebyatt1  3 роки тому

      I'm trying to go by memory here... But is there a few of the tensioning strings attached from the inner roof fabric to the panel??
      If so remove them, and have you removed the back rest to the seat, as I think I remember a screw or two needing to be removed as well.
      Sorry Tony, it been a while since I did the girls mini, and sometimes I struggle to remember my own name!

      Hi Buddy just to let you know that I have managed to get the roof to work as it should the reason why it wasn't working was because one of the wires had come out where I had bypassed the boot sensors so the reason my roof wasn't working in the first place was a bad BCM... thank god I found one on eBay hate to think what a new one would cost thanks for all your help take care
