Amen Girlfriend! You are a trustworthy girl who was raised right & still walks the walk! I’m a happy granny knowing that there are a few gems still around who tell it straight like it is! Your granny did a marvelous job instilling a value system that is honorable.

I'm from Connecticut, and I can't trust many people at all anymore it seems like none , but the generations have changed, the manors have changed , respect and integrity for one another. I used to help so many people, sometimes out of the kindness of my heart , others because it was needed. But people will use one another and just take from you because " they gotta get that money" ..... they'll avoid you with thier tails between thier legs once they " borrowed" money , if only people came back to me and said I'm going through hard times rather than avoiding me I'd understand....

😍 You damned right, your word is your bond. People need to realize that the only thing you have that can't be taken away is 'Your Word' so when you give it to someone make sure you keep it. I've lived my life by my word, if I gave it I meant it, if I had to break it I would always give due notice and the reason why I had to. So many times people have given me their word on things and events and never followed through, then when I'd confront them about it they'd try to make me feel like I'm the one who let them down, or had mental issues.

This comment 100%! I remember my Pediatrician when I was really little would always give us some piece of wisdom at the end of each appointment. I remember him plain as day telling me how our reputation was the only thing we truly had in this life on Earth and to never let our reputations get ruined. Do not lie, chest, or steal. Always be honest and never break your word!!

If you don't stay true to your word, you dishonor the person you gave it to, and self!

I can’t believe people think that a $1.00 is nothing. I wholeheartedly agree with you because back in the day that was a lot of money to most people. It’s the lesson not the dollar amount he was trying to get across.

In 1980 my Daddy Grogan made $100. A week being a country Preacher, my Mama Grogan made Closes. A dress was like $10. Add himming pants was a dollar per leg. Daddy had his work car and his Sunday car. I truly feel blessed watching your videos. I really like it gospel singing. Thank you so much and take care.

Aww thank you for sharing! My Mamaw, (my Great-Grandmother who adopted and raised me along with my Papaw), started ironing shirts for a little extra while I was in highschool after my Papaw passed away. She ironed dress shirts for $1 per shirt and she included the starch in that price. It ended up being an extra $20 every two weeks. She told me when she was first working in the early 1940's she worked full-time for a well off family taking care of their kids, doing all the housework for them, and cooking their meals for $3.50 a week, but didn't live with them. She said it was enough to pay for all the groceries that she had to get at the store that she didn't grow or raise herself. (She grew a big garden and had chickens for eggs, and a small number of pigs.) She also went out into the mountains and picked herbs for herself and also enough to sell here and there. She also picked Galax and sold it to the lady that made flower arrangements for funerals. She wasn't living high on the hog but she was able to survive.

    Yes ma'am ❤️
I come from a long line of great women that would take on a grown man at the drop of a hat.
Even today, someone's word is everything.
Even if you don't believe it.

The people who say 8 Bits isn’t a lot of money are ones that didn’t grow up in small town America and or were born after 1990 and especially after the year 2000. I was born three score and five into the 20th century and that makes me less than a decade younger than Popcorn and my allowance before I got a my first real job when I was 15 paid $3.10 per hour and my allowance for doing chores before then was $3.00 a week and that equated out to less than 25 per hour. Honestly I made more money cutting and raking lawns, shoveled snow, etc and collected cans and bottles to sell for scrap (an aluminum can paid a penny) than I did working my first real job. The difference today is most young people have never really had to work a hard job and their parents never made them work for their allowance so they don’t appreciate the worth of a dollar.
