CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Joe (Gregory Peck) brings Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) home to stay with him, but he doesn't know who she really is.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Audrey Hepburn became a star with this film, in which she played Princess Anne, weary of protocol and anxious to have some fun before she is mummified by "affairs of state." On a diplomatic visit to Rome, Anne escapes her royal retainers and scampers incognito through the Eternal City. She happens to meet American journalist Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck), who, recognizing a hot news story, pretends that he doesn't recognize her and offers to give her a guided tour of Rome. Naturally, Joe hopes to get an exclusive interview, while his photographer pal Irving (Eddie Albert) attempts to sneak a photo. And just as naturally, Joe falls in love with her. Filmed on location in Rome, Roman Holiday garnered an Academy Award for the 24-year-old Hepburn; another Oscar went to the screenplay, credited to Ian McLellan Hunter and John Dighton but actually co-written by the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo. The 1987 TV movie remake with Catherine Oxenberg is best forgotten.
CREDITS:
TM & © Paramount (1953)
Cast: Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn
Director: William Wyler
Producers: Robert Wyler, William Wyler, Lester Koenig

They had such a natural chemistry. It's what made this film so great. And he was so handsome. And she beautiful.
"This is very UNUSUAL. I've never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off it's MOST unusual." Lol
USM60-JÄGMG42 r/niceguys
I don't seem to mind, do you?
Was she drank
@@michaelasante1498 No she wasn't, she was given sleeping medicine by the family doctor before she left the palace.
It would have been Roman Nightmare if she came across someone not so gentlemanly as Mr. Peck in the Colosseum.
@@ludwigvanbeethoven6853 Cool bro!
You are perfectly right.
And don't call me shirley
Hahaha
They have the best chemistry I've seen in a movie.
I love how he interrupts himself to correct her. _"It's Keats"_ "I'll be- *_Shelley-_* I'll be back in about ten minutes"
Dnd don't call me shirley
Gregory Peck has the most serene voice 🥰
Gregory Peck is so handsome and she's gorgeous
Omg....yes...never saw him like this...
You're not too bad yourself if you don't mind my saying so miss.
200% agree❤❤
High class gentleman
He looks like Dean Martin
I like it so much when Audrey is drunk or sleepy in films .It‘s too cute!
I love Audrey and Gregory too! They are incredible actors! What a great film
This film was made 65 years ago and still funny. What happened to today's movies and comedies?
You have to wait 65 years to separate the wheat from the chaff
Wokeshit
No Gregory Peck (oh no! 😢), no Audrey Hepburn too. So, we must cry, cry 😭
@@rand0mGT That would be the most precise reason
i can't stop laughing in disbelief with the way joe bradley treated ann before he knew that she's a princess. their first meeting scenes were full of humour like the way he tried to wake her up in the taxi and flipped her to the couch. it's just hillarious. they weren't acting silly or exaggerated it but the script and the way they acted it is just pure hillarious
"I don't seem to mind... do you?" Hahaha
Drunk Audrey is so cute. ^ ^
She isn't drunk. She is on a tranquilizer
Sorry but I haven't woren a nightgown in years 😂😆😂
Lol 😂
Classic gentleman, she was lucky he came along
Nowadays romantic scenes have the camera cutting like it has epilepsy. So nice to just WATCH two actors acting and soak in the feeling for myself. Movies nowadays shove the message, feeling, action down your throat so much that there's no room for the viewer to interpret for themselves with their imagination.
Lmfaooo
The most charisma possibly ever seen on film between peck and Hepburn.
"This is very unusual. I've never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off it's *most* unusual. I don't seem to mind... do you?"
😂😂 😂
Peck and Hepburn were great together
There isn't any celebrity right now that I can say he is everything i want in a man and I will marry him in heart beat but Mr.Peck is definitely my ideal. Too bad men like that doesn't exist anymore and I was not born in those days
s.lena you are absolutely right!
Yeh....absolutely right.
They don't make them like this anymore...both men and movies I mean...hmmm...I get dreamy..😍
@@sushiray80 I'm a man, and I agree.
OMG...me too....Dreamy is right....He is perfect....I want a man like him....Where is my Gregory Peck?
Absolutely! Me too.
Just wondering, what a fate he would have befallen had he belonged to our times or we, his🤔
man, audrey is just other-wordly in this. i love her, and the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts
Atticus Finch and Eliza Doolittle
I love how Audrey recites the poem and the way she exchanged corrections regarding who's the author with Greg...
What class these people had! ❤
One of the best films of all time !
Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn are the best !❤❤❤!!
I wonder why Joe was so suspicious of her and didn't seem to find her attractive at first. She surely didn't smell like she'd been drinking, and she didn't look like a thief.
Cris Guia maybe he thought she was on drugs
and he was right because she was :')
Joe was nearly broke at that time. So he could not afford to get attracted to any lady. And he just wanted to keep his last pennies intact.
Nope just drugged..
Gregory Peck is infuriatingly a gentleman here.
Arethusa arose
From her couch of snows
In the Acroceraunian mountains,---
From cloud and from crag,
With many a jag,
Shepherding her bright fountains.
She leapt down the rocks,
With her rainbow locks
Gregory Peck was so beautiful.
Genius timeless priceless movie . I’ve always loved me some Audrey Hepburn & will always love her acting 🎭 roles
pyJAMAS 😂 0:12, god i love her!
He’s all like “naw fam” 😂😂
Absolutely brilliant . Audrey is amazing-beautiful-clever . Just superb genius and talent. And incredibly fun-nny....
My favorite movie starring Audrey Hepburn
I love how she says PAJAAAAMAS
A wonderful scene
This is so charming, I wish I had some way of watching the whole thing.
This scene reminds of a time a girlfriend of mine was wearing a suit and a tie at work. Her tie became crooked and her collar got twisted up and was sticking straight up. I said to her "you look like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday." I guess she never saw the movie. She was confused and never straightened her tie and she never fixed her collar. It stayed like that all day at work. Any other ladies have that happen?
Princess Ann : I dont seem to mind, do you??
Joe Bradley : ..........
She’s so beautiful, beautiful and Gregory Peck is hot. Handsome guy
One of the best Films , I ever saw ! Detlef Laemmel, Germany
Love this scene
Me Meedze That was why I cried so much at the end 😭😢
Keats, keats - it's Shelly
No this is Patrick.
😂😂😂
Oh Audrey..
Roman holiday Actor Handsome👍
I wonder what he was thinking while she said that 😅
i just watched to kill a mocking bird two days ago and watching peck in here is just extremely amusing, from atticus finch to joe bradley
Audrey❤
I imagined a romantic movie with images and music with starrings Jane Wyman and Gregory Peck
0:40 respect
True gentleman. Good.
And was it Keats or Shelley?
it's shelley~ the poem's Arethusa~~
@@EvlNabiki thank you for the clarification..
i cant see him as anyone other than atticus finch
Try The Big Country, wonderfully handsome man - and that voice !!
I Just Finished Watching To Kill A Mockingbird At School At It Was A Classic.
He looks waisan
MOST unusual…
怎麼只有一小段?
Mark of Athena brought me here
so was it Keats or Shelly?
Shelley
This sort of deep man voice has become almost completely extinct
Happy 45th birthday, EAT BULAGA!!!
Reply to Amanda because she is a princess she wasn’t allowed to go out of palace and she had bodyguards ✝️🙏🏽❤️💐
Audrey Hepburn was all girl! She was cast opposite the greats including Gregory Peck William Holden, Humphrey Bogart, George Peppard AND Cary Grant. No actress of today could top that.
And don't call me shirley
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He's right. It's Shelley.
Yup
Maybe she was drunk to give the story more realism. That's definitely her. Those actresses were always full of ideas to sell the movie.
Dear Myers
She wasn't drunk.
Why don't you watch the movie before you comment- it makes you look stupid
because you don't know what you are talking about!
MrKaitland quit white knighting on a dead Audrey.
MrKaitland She didn't appear sober until the movie was half completed. Then she needed to be sober in front of Gregory Peck! She only had 2 to 3 full lines to speak and the ability to walk straight. The last half did show Audrey.
+busterdog321 YOU are a piece of millennial SHIT busterdog
scum....Go back where you belong dirtbag.
+MrKaitland just got back to this freak show. ok so...by your logic im a "millennial" and i should "should go back where i belong" well welcome to the internet. im here all day and ill be happy to show you around.
So we were watching this in class and I went to the bathroom kind of in the beginning, was she drunk ?
No. A heavy sedative was administered to her by her doctor, before she ran away, to sleep and keep her in cheerful mood for the dragging next day.
She had been given a sedative by Dr. Bonnacoven at her country's embassy. They thought she was having a nervous breakdown, when she was really just unable to have a life outside of her royal routine.
Are these scenes in order? They seem backwards.
Ikr
No, they are not in order at all, it's such a shame. Unless you have seen the movie you would not really understand it from this mish mash. I've watched it several times on DVD - both actor and actress are great. This, I believe was her first film ... so talented
Can anyone name the poem please?
Arethusa by Percy Shelley
@@reneborroto9901 Thank you so very much. Feeling so amusingly happy that something I wanted to know (which I still wanted) has been answered by someone 5 years later. Such a big, yet small world.
@@malinibhattacharya9226 You are welcome
Gregory Peck could have made a Good Superman if George Reeves lost out in '51.
Not sure. He seems a bit too gruff to be Superman. I see why he was cast in a bunch of military films, he's perfect for those roles.
I swear my girlfriend looks EXACTLY like Audrey Hepburn
You won't believe that I have seen this movie in my tablet every day for the last one month repeatedly and still I'm not tired or bored. I like it 👌 very much. Particularly the actions of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory peck. They seem so natural. I am not able to believe they no longer exist. Also I feel that she is really a princess and also feel sorry for Gregory peck.
@Michelangelo No.Not interested.
Sure she does buddy
The movie was generic one. Copied in many countries many a times. And the story is unique the way Upton Sinclair's body of works goes. Such a sweet tale by the Author of Jungle, King Midas etc.! The story also has been rewritten by many fiction writters, in many languages.
🔥🔥🔥
awesome and eye opening.

Eating cake donaught for dinner
Cute... but why would he not take the couch??
Firstly, he's too tall to be comfortable in a couch. And then, probably he wanted to put a limit to his gentleness to a drunk(that he took her to be in the first place) lady whom he barely knew.
