    Thanks Jack, this one is crying out for a flybridge, the lower helm is so distanced from everything for berthing and close quarters work, without even a side door or two for the helmsman to quickly see what is happening alongside.
    Berthing costs at least 150% of normal in the UK and often no hammerhead berths available when visiting marinas, even more so in the Med.

      What typically happens is these boats get yacht/dock remote controller of some kind. Control the boat, anchor, etc., from a remote. Yes, berthing is more expensive, typically 50% sometimes even double. "More costs more."

    Strange design choice to have master cabin is in the same hull as the generator. I do like the idea of the integrated drinks tray at the front, a simple yet useful idea.

    The video was a bit shaky, not sure about the layout if honest but nice to see a new boat video.

    Seems like a lot of money for what seems to be a lower tier boat. The finishes have that ikea look to them… Looks like they mailed it in on this one…

      My thoughts exactly. Lots of bare GRP and low end veneer, which is a bit crap for a 600k boat.

    • @darthkek1953
      @darthkek1953 2 місяці тому

      @@BadYossa The Fairline Targa 40 is £1m all-in and that's only one hull. And GRP has the advantage of not having panel linings sag and needing replacing every 5 years.

      They've always done that on their motor cats - designed to be lightweight for economy and functional for chartering. Other brands of Motor cat with more upmarket finishes are more expensive...

  • @sevensixtysteve8662

    Always interesting to see different configurations but I’m not sure you are really benefitting from the multi hull in this design. The cockpit seems to be the only part that where the it works. The side decks also seem overly large reducing the space in the living areas - not really doing it for me.

    It's a nice boat and I appreciate the catamaran concept of space, but I feel that too small of a boat makes a bad catamaran. Granted you get more rooms on this than you would you would conventional monohull, some of the compromises in terms of space and amenities seems wasteful. Not that there is a glut of sub 50' power cats out there anyway. I just think if you are going that small, then a flybridge is a must. But this is affordable boating for most people and suits the purpose well.

    • @darthkek1953

      Couples with very young children often (not always) don't like flybridges as it means it is more difficult to maintain a child watch. The Boats CO UK bloke talks about it.

    bit basic but built to a cost i suppose.cant believe they didnt even bother with seperate showers.jack.may i mention that the camera was too shaky and everything was too close up most of the time.maybe a different lense.;)

    It's a decent boat, although you're paying far too much of a premium for the Fountaine-Pajot name. For something in the same size (and price) range I'd opt for the Aquila 36 with the cruising package (and foils). As others have mentioned, the helm is WAY too far away from the outside, there is no way you could safely perform single-hand docking without a wireless controller of some kind.

    • @johanneslaxell6641
      @johanneslaxell6641 2 роки тому +1

      IMO, if you buy something like this, why would you not get a wireless control? And is it "big enough" for som kind of wing-controls? A skylounge Aquila/Horizon/Sunreef/Leopard/Fountain Pajot is another question...

  • @bryduhbikeguy
    @bryduhbikeguy 2 роки тому +2

    For a basic family float,this seems almost ok.My problem is the control area,period.You're 5 feet from the Port,and 8 from starboard when docking.Enough.

      All these boats end up with yacht & docking remote controllers these days. Would be mad not to get the option.

    Nice looking yacht. What was not mention, which I feel is important is, berthing. As they tend to be a lot wider than standard yachts. Are there any difficulties in getting a berth in a marina in the UK or the Med?

    • @trthib

      I could be wrong but I see this boat having more success being sold to rent in the Caribean or in Polynesia than in the Med

  • @boganpainter1638
    @boganpainter1638 2 роки тому +1

    It seems like it would be difficult to berth with shaft drives, no thrusters, and only a low central helm.

    • @darthkek1953
      @darthkek1953 2 місяці тому

      A dock/yacht controller would be an auto-include option. Because of the distance between engines cats are actually incredibly manoeuvrable, they can spin on the spot, so experienced cat owners do not need thrusters. That said I would get a thruster, they are an easy add but once you get used to the engines you likely would rarely use it. (Cat designers/yards seem to install them for new-to-cat owners or for resale, not for experienced captains).
      EDIT : Captain Steve Boattest did a sea trial. Didn't need a remote. His model had a bow thruster, didn't need to touch it.

    Jack; you are normally pretty good with a camera but this was nauseating. You must have been under time pressure with those erratic movements.
    The boat is an attempt at a basic, no thrills charter boat, knowing Fountaine Pajot, people had best steer clear of it.
