So I guess you take as main reference Putin's dictatorial government?
It seems like an old discussion from the sixties but maybe it is a consequence of Putin's moving back to the Cold War days playground.. In a Democracy like we live in Canada, there is no central government trying to destruct public consciousness. As in any market economy there is a lot of noisy marketing, but it is not centrally imposed. People freely see , listen and can choose and then vote by their purchasing power. Artists have the right and obligation to be engaged and I am grateful that they play a main role (like "Pussy Riots" in Russia.) On the other hand, people have the right to like different kind of music and we are not in a special position to say what is the right music for everyone but we can express what we personally like, as in the case, Wild Country" by Wake Owl .
In any case, leaving politics aside, I respect Russian science, music and ballet and of course the beautiful Russian women. Cheers.

"An estimated 7,000,000 persons perished in this farming area, known as the breadbasket of Europe, with the people deprived of the food they had grown with their own hands."
- No respect for international laws, like for example Putin's invasion of Crimea and the direct support of the Russian separatists that attack Ukraine, a Democratic country.
- I remember how happy I was with the fall of the Berlin wall and the "Glasnost." It occurred to me that Russia was finally to start practicing fair play among the concert of nations. With Putin, every single gain the country has done since these times, is lost.
