It's so cool that you get to do this with your dad! He's working so hard to help you. I can't wait to see the finished result of your projects! Also, would love to hear more about the history of your town and these buildings. ❤😊
I'm 78 years old and remember me and my dad doing things around my house and fixing things up so I could move in,he knew how to do anything and l learned alot on how to use what we had laying around it was great. Love watching you 2 ❤❤❤❤
I love that you're doing this with your dad and using salvage for your place! My favorite video of yours so far!!! I'm having a coffee in your mom's memory right now sweetie!!! Take care and carry on!!!❤🎉😊
Your dad deserves a Father of the Year award!! 🏆 How blessed you are to have him and his help with your projects! Also, it’s so sweet that no matter how old you become, he is still protecting you!!
Mars....Venus.....Experienced....Learning....It was wonderful watching you and your Dad working together. Dad helping your dreams come true. It's what it is all about, The journey.
I’m 41 now and my daddy is 67. This reminds me of when I was younger. I was my daddy’s right hand man. We built things. Fixed things. Even gutted and redid the bathroom for my momma when she became disabled (RIP Momma). I have a feeling I’ll end up crying during these videos. 😂
i know that this isn't what it's about, but I just had to mention at how adorable you two are. all the support and kindness when working together. you're putting an incredible amount of care into this whole thing and I really can't wait to see the next one and to watch the project. You're really crushing it.
I really enjoy watching you go through everything. I love that you take time so many videos are just so fast fast fast. Here’s how it started and here’s the final makeover. Yours is so much more thoughtful and I love that you appreciate all of this fascinating stuff from our past. Keep up the great work. And you have a great dad, who loves you so much.
That is so cool you are finding awesome stuff to use in your new old building! Always a good day when we get to see you making progress on your place! That's not dust on your face, its construction glitter LOL
I love seeing you work with your dad. Hes so nice and patient lol He reminds me of my dad. This seems like so much fun too. I wish I was able to do something like this with my dad before he passed.
The company I had to shut down a few years ago here in Baltimore was window and glass repair. I've done many of glass replacements on windows like these,we called it reglazing. We also did a lot of old wooden window repair. It's not bad to replace the individual panes of glass. Your dad is the best. Great job with the extraction. Keep up the great work
Our house was originally built 114 years ago as the brick powerhouse for the railroad right next door and housed the big Westinghouse generators on the roof. The southern side of our house has two stories worth of the steel grid factory windows. I love the light that they bring in!
Wow, what backbreaking, and actually, dangerous work. Talk about sweat equity! The windows are beautiful, and I can't wait to see what you do with them.
I just found yoyr channel recently and I amd enjoying watching the restoration of the buidlings. I love the repurposing of the materials. I admire you and your dads relationship. Reminds me of my dad. I lost him almost 3 years ago to cancer and my sister a year later in a car wreck. I miss them both deeply and cherish all the good times we had. I can see how you cherish your family and I admire that♡ look forward to seeing more videos.
Emma: "I hope nobody takes the rest of them." Dad: "nobody wants to do that." LOL - I had such a dad and what a treasure they are. I'm enjoying watching the two of you as much as the process. I am such a huge proponent of sustainability and architectural salvage - so worth the effort to keep your building's cool factor.
I'm new to your channel. I enjoy watching you make this journey. After today, I also miss my Daddy. We took on so many projects and I learned so much. Thank you.
This is great that you’re able to get these windows but you n your dad had to work hard for something that was free. Also having your dads help n the quality time together. Love to hear more about the town where your new residence will be ( well eventually). ♥️🥰👍🌟🌟
Way to go! I love to salvage. I also used to work side by side with my dad. It’s some of my best memories that I have of him. You’re going to be sore from swinging those hammers! I look forward to seeing progress. Good luck!
Great idea to use the windows and good teamwork. When I was a girl I used to watch my Dad build houses. I'd also draw blueprints for them with a nail in the dirt. I still enjoy watching construction. Now I think maybe I should have gone into drafting and been an architect. Or a contactor.
I am so proud of you! You are definitely not afraid of work. You and your dad did a great job taking out the windows. Can’t wait to see the finished work. Thank you for the entertainment and I’m always looking forward to the next episode.
Could get double pane glass panels made to glue in and apply some 1 or 2 mm thick plastic strips with adhesive film to cover the gaps to hide the metal spacers between the glass panes. Or plastic T molding could press into the gaps, held with the same caulking used to hold the glass. That would be for appearance and a thermal break so the metal frame isn't exposed to outside heat and cold. I have steel multi pane windows like those in my block shop building. I've not investigated the cost of replacing all the single pane glass with double pane.
So i started to watch, just for the halibut. And something to watch while i have breakfast, i got to say that i like that you take your health and safety serious. And that you actually do stuff, not standing idly by or letting hired people do the cleaning up of the store.
Those windows frames are exactly like the original windows that we replaced in the fire lookout tower that I worked in that was built in 1951. That glazing around the panes is like granite. You will need a good chisel and hammer to remove it. The first few seasons I worked in that tower, I replaced a few broken and cracked panes. Then we replaced the windows completely with cheap off the shelf vinyl windows from Home Depot. That tower was never the same after that.
Hahaha, I couldn't help but chuckle at all your questions, suggestions, sighs and admonitions because I would have sounded the same. DEFINITELY many differences between males and females. 😂
Yes! This was the comment I was going to make! 😂 She is EXACTLY like me, always questioning if there’s a better way or different approach. I love it! She’s a force to be reckoned with!
I am worried about the dust. Be careful what you inhale. So much bad stuff in older building materials (asphestos). Kudos on a job well done. 💪💪💞💞👍👍 Your Dad worked really hard to help you. It will be interesting to see how those windows will work in your tiny home.
I'd think about chipping away the old glazing and removing at least the outer panes of glass before going to work freeing the frame. Not only will it maybe save some of the panes from getting broken, but it will lessen the weight of the frame stricture when it comes free, and you can use the cleared spaces to get a handhold.
This video captivated me. Scary and funny at the same time. Well done on the angles. Did you both have sore muscles the next day? Best part was your dad’s comment, “Nobody wants to.” (Right at the end). 😂. Thank you!
SO I guess the next thing to do with all of those windows is carefully remove the glass panes that can be salvaged (as the glazing on all needs to be replaced, so remove them all) .. clean and pain the frames, new glazing (plus new glass for missing ones) and then ready to us. A lot of work but most of the cost is just hard labor time and effort so well worth it.
I’m sure you thought of this but thought I would ask why you would not have used a stone saw😢 or put a masonry blade on a grinder to at least cut through the first layer of the cinderblock could hose it down while you it to keep dust down (❤that sledge hammer gets heavy after a bit 🤷♂️ just sayin lol🤣) love this old building and wish I could find something like that in my area it will be amazing thanks f😢sharing your journey with us
One thing about the Frettses is that we use what we have. If I bought every tool that I “needed” I would have no money left for my renovation 😂 but I’m sure there are plenty of tools out there that could have made this a little more efficient! Hopefully it’s entertaining either way 🫶🏼
Drinking a latte for my cousin 🥰😇 We have windows like this in our 100+ year old fixer upper. Love them! We had them all reglazed after replacing broken panes of restoration (wavy) glass. Who knew there were so many kinds of restoration glass!
As far as hauling the windows vertically as opposed to horizontally, that's how window/glass companies haul their glass. It has less flex that way, and therefore less of a chance of breaking. It seems counterintuitive, but the glass has more strength vertically than it does across the whole surface. So Pops was definitely right on that one
It looks as if your dad is a field mechanic of some sort. It's great that your learning self sufficient life style from him. Many people now a days need this education.
It's a lot of work to get those windows out. When those types of windows are installed, they actually slide them down from the top or put the Block in around the windows. Too bad you were not close by to Michigan because I just gave away four big Windows identical to those that came out of one of the Ford plants
as hard as this work was, i bet your dad will cherish these kinds of memories with you for as long as he lives. great video.
It's so cool that you get to do this with your dad! He's working so hard to help you. I can't wait to see the finished result of your projects! Also, would love to hear more about the history of your town and these buildings. ❤😊
I'm so grateful for his help!! And I would love to share more history! Noted - thank you 💗

It’s really sweet to see father and daughter working together like this.
I don’t have my daddy anymore and i miss him everyday. It’s good to see you make memories with your dad
Same here!
Father, daughter projects are the best. You will never forget these times. My father has been gone for over 7 years, miss him every day.
Dads a star!
I love that you're doing this with your dad and using salvage for your place! My favorite video of yours so far!!! I'm having a coffee in your mom's memory right now sweetie!!! Take care and carry on!!!❤🎉😊

I really enjoy watching your journey on repairing this building. Your dad seems like a really great guy.
That is so cool you are finding awesome stuff to use in your new old building! Always a good day when we get to see you making progress on your place! That's not dust on your face, its construction glitter LOL
Hahaha I actually laughed out loud. I’m going to use that from now on 😂

Your dad is a lucky man. To get to spend time with his daughter. Building dreams.
Well done! Salvaged building materials are the corner stone of sustainable development.
Can't wait to see that old store of yours all spiffed up :)
I just love watching your progress with your building.. You have a wonderful father..

Wow, that is truly incredible! I can't wait to get these windows opened up :)
Your pops is a great Dad, even reminding to use ear protection. Good man.

Fun episode. Thanks for sharing.
Ms Emma you are driven! Those windows are a great score! That’s a lotta work to remove but a good score nonetheless.
Thank you!! They are a great score and it was so worth the effort to get them!

Yay!! A new video. If you can’t tell I enjoy your videos 💜 so glad I came across your channel

Who else was yelling, "pivot, pivot" as they turned the window on the board into the truck? 😂 Nice recovery of these windows.
Great find 😊 and DAD!
Great work!
Broken glass is a bonus handle!
You make a great team.
God bless Dad.😊
Your so funny I love that your dad is working with you teaching you so lucky I do the same with my daughter
We are pretty funny together! I definitely have fun, but I don't know if he can say the same 😂
Thank you for heart
@ good morning sunshine
Loved the slow mo shots! Cheers mom!

I love when you dad responded " Nobody wants to take them.
Nice hat liberate Luigi 🙏…this thing is heavy 😂
I was hearing “hold my beer” lol
Oh for sure 😂
Nice big windows for green house.

@ you are quite welcome! Glad to help! Keep up the good work, love the channel!
Rocking the MAHA hat. Nice. I hope you expand to X one of these days.
Cheers to Mom, your Dad is great! ...who won the bet?? 😂 he can go two miles an hour. 😂
He won - or so he says! I haven't actually inspected them for myself 👀😂
I learned never to bet with my Dad, he won evertime! 🥰❤
I'd hammer drill some big holes in the block. Probably make it a bit easier to knock out.
Now ain't that a whole lotta fun!
