Him and former GM Tom Donahoe worked together in drafting, cultivating, and curating some of the best talent in Steelers history from 1992 to 1997. Cowher gave the Steelers their first AFC Championship (1995) since 1979, their first Super Bowl appearance (1995) since 1979, and their first Super Bowl ring (2005) since 1979. *Steelers fans from 1980 to 1991 were STARVING for sustained or consistent success and of course a Super Bowl title, and Cowher got Steeler Nation both of those measures of success.* Not only that, when Cowher retired after the 2006 season, he didn't leave the cupboard bare for his successor Mike Tomlin. Tomlin inherited Ben Roethlisberger. Tomlin netted a playoff berth in 2007. *Tomlin inherited 27 players that Cowher and his coaching staff, team scouts, and GM Kevin Colbert either scouted, drafted, coached up, or got in free agency that helped him win a Super Bowl ring in 2008.* Cowher did so much for the Steelers it ain't even funny bro.

As a life-long Browns fan , I can honestly say I have always liked and respected coach Cowher. He is a great human being and a great coach...I cheered at the announcement of his induction...he belonged in the HOF !!

This was the first time I actually watched Bill Cowhers induction into the Hall of fame... very emotional. I'm glad that he gave all the love and praise to his late wife, his kids, and the Rooney family. Rip Dan rooney. He definitely unreplaceable... you don't find another Dan or any anywhere. He was absolutely amazing. Anyhow, Pittsburgh loves coach Bill cowher. And I'm glad to see that he shared the love for our city. Because we embraced him as one of our own, because he was, also he did so much for the city. And we miss him! But we're proud to have him now and then.!!

Them Chiefs teams you were on from 1990 to 1994 were some of the most talented rosters in the NFL in the 1990s.

Exactly, Mr.Cowher. Marty Schottenheimer was a great,great inspiring coach and person. We met him before a preseasongame in Berlin 1990. We had a short chat about the game in general and he was surprised to meet germans who were total football-maniacs. He was so respectful and straight to the point. Never forget him.
Man I recall the painful loss to the Chargers in 94 and then the nail biting win vs Indy in 95. The relief and happiness on Bills face was unforgettable.
What a man Cowher is. Being from Baltimore never liked him or his teams but what a great guy. I only played in high school but it was the best thing I ever did in my life. At 63 fighting cancer I look back on it everyday and will never quit until the end. Thats football. Its not money or fame its never quit and keep hitting back even if your down 21 in the fourth quarter.
The last part of that speech brought tears to my eyes, because it told a truth that we know in our hearts but sometimes overlook. Dan's offering the Rosary Beads to Bill - and Bill accepting them though he was not Catholic - exemplifies how we can accept and love one another regardless of our differences. It was at that moment that I realized that of last night's Steeler inductees, Donnie Shell is African-American, Troy Polamalu is a Pacific Islander, and Bill Cowher is a white Yinzer. But they are part of the same family - the Steeler family, and Steeler Nation loves them all as beloved members of our chosen family. If only the whole world was more like that.

I liked Cower when he was the defensive coordinator in KC. I saw an ESPN profile of him. And I respect the hell out of him. He was a great coach...a great husband....a great father. Cowher's run as the Steelers coach is a story in belief. Every owner should look at what the Rooney family has done as owners who stick with their coaches through thick and thin, because it creates the culture of belief in themselves and it passes down each generation of players. The Steelers are one of my favorite teams because of how they stay with their head coach and developed the culture of how football should be. Every team should learn from this.

After he won the Super Bowl, the next year the team relaxed and wasn't quite as good. If you watched some of the post-game press conferences, you could see that Cowher had lost a bit of that fire that drove him. He had fun. He laughed. He wasn't as bothered by some of the losses. Not a criticism - just an observation. It's natural that after fighting since the 1990s to reach the top, once he found it, his happiness stayed with him for some time. While chasing that NFL title that eluded him so many times, Cowher was scary intense. You could see it in his expressions, his glare, the spit that flew from his mouth during his sideline rants with clenched fists. It was all there. He was the opposite of Chuck Noll - the man he replaced. Chuck Noll did a great thing by never uttering a word about Bill Cowher. Noll allowed Cowher to be his own man. Both were winning coaches with polar opposite sideline demeanors. I'm glad that they both are in the NFL Hall of Fame. Without a doubt, Marty Schottenheimer should be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
If it werent for Coach Marty Schottenheimer, Bill wouldn't be in the hall. He gave Bill his 1st coaching opportunity. Bill was thinking about retiring and going back to his hometown to be a high school coach. Coach Marty saw something in him and the rest is history.🏈🏈

I liked Cower when he was the defensive coordinator in KC. I saw an ESPN profile of him. And I respect the hell out of him. He was a great coach...a great husband....a great father. Not necessarily in that order. He is a class act...and though the Steelers were a foe for teh Chiefs over the years....they were greater because of him. Congratulations coach.
Cowher's run as the Steelers coach is a story in belief. Every owner should look at what the Rooney family has done as owners who stick with their coaches through thick and thin, because it creates the culture of belief in themselves and it passes down each generation of players.
The Steelers are one of my favorite teams because of how they stay with their head coach and developed the culture of how football should be. Every team should learn from this.

Beautiful speech! The Pittsburgh Steelers needed that hard nosed smash mouth coach that was bill and we went to 2 superbowls and won 1 and I always will say bill Cowher is my favorite coach of all time! And Mike Tomlin is my favorite too lol

Congrats coach coher and he's right marty schottenheimer should be in the hof he's one of the greatest coaches in history he made Cleveland and San Diego relevant browns and chiefs were power houses during the 80s and 90s his final season in the league he was 14-2 in San Diego and had his own system marty ball rip coach 🙏🏿

Remember he was Cleveland Brown first by playing for them and then a coach. Respect him as a coach and a person but hated it when he went to coach the other team
After he won the Super Bowl, the next year the team relaxed and wasn't quite as good. If you watched some of the post-game press conferences, you could see that Cowher had lost a bit of that fire that drove him. He had fun. He laughed. He wasn't as bothered by some of the losses. Not a criticism - just an observation.
It's natural that after fighting since the 1990s to reach the top, once he found it, his happiness stayed with him for some time.
While chasing that NFL title that eluded him so many times, Cowher was scary intense. You could see it in his expressions, his glare, the spit that flew from his mouth during his sideline rants with clenched fists. It was all there.
He was the opposite of Chuck Noll - the man he replaced. Chuck Noll did a great thing by never uttering a word about Bill Cowher. Noll allowed Cowher to be his own man.
Both were winning coaches with polar opposite sideline demeanors. I'm glad that they both are in the NFL Hall of Fame. Without a doubt, Marty Schottenheimer should be in the NFL Hall of Fame.

If it werent for Coach Marty Schottenheimer, Bill wouldn't be in the hall. He gave Bill his 1st coaching opportunity. Bill was thinking about retiring and going back to his hometown to be a high school coach. Coach Marty saw something in him and the rest is history.🏈🏈

We need someone like bill to be president of our country. Dude is a true leader
