I've always encouraged all Americans to watch the Boondocks, especially white and black people. It somehow manages to take everything that encompasses Black and White people in America and make it into the funniest satire ever. The Good, The Bad, and especially the true stuff.
I can totally see that Czar! We've gotten almost 100% Positive feedback from the community and love the open dialog it creates, not to mention ALL the info from the shows OG viewers, like yourself. You guys have shared so much info about the show with us, that we definitely would have missed or possibly overlooked. The thing to remember is that while it satirizes black culture , the creator is trying to show the negatives aspects of it in the respect of how the negative aspects of black culture have formed because of white oppression. For example uncle ruckus isn’t just supposed to be funny because he says the N word in a derogatory way so that it’s a funny outlet to while people that REALLY want to say that word. He’s symbolically representing how white oppression can lead certain black Americans to hate themselves and where they come from. This is why the creator left the show because he knew people weren’t understanding the subtext
Fun fact: They originally only planned to have her voice Riley, but they liked her work so much they asked her to try voicing both brothers. Of course she did it so seamlessly that they asked her to voice Huey too.

One of the best aspects of this episode (and a little bit throughout the show) is that it consistently talks about how hard it was for granddad to move into a neighborhood that other people have lived in their entire lives. And the toast at the end where Wunsler says “I’m glad you made it”, really sets the tone for the rest of the show.

Uncle Ruckus is one of my favorite characters and a favorite amongst my fellow african americans.
