Bennie is spot on- lack of leadership- ownership/GM/coaches. That explains not only this season-but the past decade. And the NYG undervalued Barkley looking only at $$ and not seeing his full value- specially given Daboll’s lack of experience and leadership. Not saying Barkley would save this bad team- just that guy’s are quitting on the field of battle due to lack of heart and leadership. And Bennie is correct on the fans who hate DJ as if he was responsible for the past decade or for the Manning-Gettleman mistake in drafting him. I understand he has to go- as Bennie said he needs a change of scenery- but hate is completely counterproductive emotion in this situation. As usual, great podcast Pat!
Question Pat: Should Spagnolli eventually be under consideration to replace Daboll? If you were floating his name in your question to Bennie, Spags has great potential as HC after working for Andy Reid and he has the past connection to the NYG. He would be my #1A contender even over BB who I believe is burnt out and at his age likely has difficulty connecting with ages 21-30. Ben Johnson would be 1B choice.

@@jimosborne2 just the usual you read about, Ben Johnson, Brian Flores, Mike Vrabel. ( I know last two come with some baggage) Then of course there’s the obvious Bill B. I mean he’s a football, especially defensive genius, but I think it might be tough for him unless we had a veteran QB. Can’t see him working with a rookie QB at this point in his life. But can any one of them change the culture? Who knows. You?

(And he wasn’t a good GM at drafting in the last 6 years either. ) A problem is that Johnson, Spags and Flores are so highly regarded, would they leave top teams to come to this losing franchise? Flores might be interested cause Miami looks like it’s in decline- I think Detroit and KC are going to meet any offer Spags and Johnson might receive- and they are with ( potential) SB winning teams. As I said, I think they certainly could be enticed to leave- but wonder if the NYG would be a likely destination.

The Giants lost not a RB, the lost their leader. Saquon is a heck of a man, tremendous leader. They are missing the leader. But it is no suprise. Joe Schoen is more micky Mouse like in Hard Knocks, that knowing, what you need for leading a team.
DJ is not a good QB, and he is wildly overpaid, but Saquon is entirely correct that Jones cares and gives 100%. Jones conducts himself with class and intelligence on and off the field. Always has. His performance is a function of his talent and ability only. If fans want to boo him, that's fine, but don't harass the guy outside of the stadium. If he ever goes to a rap concert while in concussion protocol, then maybe, but until then....

No one is questioning Daniel's heart. He's just not that good and can't elevate this team. It's the Giants fault for holding into him this long.

Personally I think he’s one of those guys who’s a better coordinator than HC.
