I've lived in Missouri now for nearly 16 years. Turns out, I was born on the Missouri state's 130th anniversary. I recall hearing this beautiful waltz as a little girl but had forgotten it. Thank you for this sweet Missouri State Song memory!!💖

It's Scots Irish southern hillbilly music. Grandparents, great grandparents Dustbowl, grapes of wrath Arkiie's and Show Me state Missouri, along with Okie's, Texans etcetera, Scots Irish. For a short time Southern California a Hillbilly Heaven of a land of milk and honey and food and water. Beverly Hillbillies types.
The first time I heard this song I was a junior in high school senior and inquire in Missouri and of course everyone else knew it besides me because I'd moved to Missouri as a sophomore well long story short I sing this song all the time now
This sounds like places in Missouri not named St. Louis, Kansas City, or Columbia.
Doesn't make me think of Missouri period except for the state's name being included, and I've lived here for my entire life. Makes me think more of Florida or South Carolina. (Although I've never been to those places, so I'm going to shut up now.)

I doubt the current governor (Mike Parsons) would take you seriously. The last time he ran 4 years ago he had a scandal. Missouri The Capital States: St.Louis
Missouri's symbols don't inspire state pride in me. In fact, my opinions on this state seem to be falling more every year. It's flag is decent.. well it's by far the best of the state flags with seals on them. B-tier. Not bad, but not great.
And this song, it's pretty boring IMHO, and almost makes me fall asleep.
Maybe this song would fit more in a rural setting, but I've lived in the suburbs my entire life and have only ever went to the country to visit family that I no longer see, or as pitstops in small towns.
So I don't feel any connection to this song.
(FYI, I'm not hating on slow and calm music. Alaska's song is beautiful. It also can make me want to fall asleep, but in a good way. It's really calming, and mildly tier educing as a result of it's beauty. While I find Missouri's boring. [I don't even have any personal connection to Alaska.])
And I'm saying all of this as a Missourian who was born and raised here who is also starting to take more of an interest in music.
