@@michaelmacleod7051 its performance and the fact that the ai cannot handle them. irl that makes sense the european powers had difficulty pushing the interior of the continent until the early 1800s but when i want a strong foil in spain/portugal or colonial britain/netherlands it makes it very hard for them to be a strong foe bc they cannot build up that interatlantic powerbase.
20:00 actually if you somehow get Maltese people rebell and they win it will actually spawn Malta (which is actually a nation that DOESNT have cores in 1444)
I’m so proud of tiny nivk for surviving to the end even if it was presumably through their spice island colonies (chewbert didn’t check to see where their capitol was but their map color was still present in the Philippines and elsewhere)
@@krullet3560 I actually experimented in a couple of games where I played GB and bonked colonizing nations to prevent anyone from ever getting a foothold in the Americas. Without outside intervention they quickly all Federalize and form massive blobs that fight each other in North America, but otherwise without institution spread by the player, they're always behind technologically. South America remains mostly empty because there's generally not enough nations down there to form federations.
Animist natives can dev to spawn institutions and I think Totemist natives can as well so it would basically require a native to dev an institution, move next to one of the Nahuatl or Inti natives allowing one of them to reform and become modernized which will eventually trigger a cascade of modernized natives. This doesn't take too long for a player to do but for the AI this can be a tall order to do even if left alone.
3 more ideas to play with: * everyone starts at tech 1 * everyone knows the whole map from the start * everyone only knows their own lands and directly neighbouring provinces.
Suggestion: Only one government form allowed. Make everyone a monarchy, or everyone a republic or everyone a theocracy or everyone a horde [no tribal option because they suck]
I think this could also be interesting in combination with the mod that nerfs bigger nations (so maybe smaller nations can profit more from the technologies and early ideas).
Would it be possible to do to EUIV but countries randomly swap places every few tears. For example, when time England and the Ottomans may be swapped so England gets all the provinces of the Ottomans and the Ottomans get all the Provinces of England?

Odd thought looking at how the Reform Desire went early on in this game due to the blobbing and all... what would EU4 look like if everyone had a sort of Syncretic/hybrid faith? So every tag is something like Tengri, Confucianism, or Fetishist. But leave the religions on the ground as they are. So like Ulm might be Tengri but its OP land is still Catholic at start. I have no idea what it'd do. If it'd do anything interesting at all really. But it's an odd curious thought that was rattling around. Would there be a ton of religious revolts going on? It'd probably stop the Age of Reformations from kicking off for anything but it's default emergency short timer which is always a wild thing. HRE might need some work around so the League War/Religious Law on it could play out better. I dunno. Odd idea.
Do a natives only EU4 run or you're a wimp.

Gonna make my prediction here: the Ottomans are gonna be a nightmare
I don't think they will. Late game western units are much stronger than the Ottoman's
Ottomans drop off in the late game. We just never see it, because by the time it happens, they’ve already conquered half the world
Idea: Eu4 but everyone has to do the Mayan or Aztec Reforms
i feel like you could've kept the natives around for this one
Nah
@@Chewbert :(
Feel the removal of the natives has nothing to do with performance.............

This gave an idea. What if instead off each country getting max tech, every country would get +1000 mana generation (for every type of mana point).
Interesting idea but I think that could make the game very slow depending if all the AIs decide to dev a lot of provinces.
I’m so proud of tiny nivk for surviving to the end even if it was presumably through their spice island colonies (chewbert didn’t check to see where their capitol was but their map color was still present in the Philippines and elsewhere)
Technology enlarge colony range, everyone who taken explorarion could practically colonise anywhere.
protestant france owning rome is a massive middle finger on the pope lmao
I think you should of kept the natives for this one, would of been interesting to see what they would do with max tech.
Doo a video where you remove everyone exept the natives
Will the AI ever modernize or is it not possible without colonizers? I'm curious now

Ok i was just thinking "how about AI only eu4 where everyone hast max Tech".

This definitely was one of the most interesting games in a while, the very hard plus no lucky nations really doing the work!

really cool video but I think my favorite part is all the culture conversion, the ai doesn't usually do that too much
i miss when you put a timelapse of the whole campaign at the end of the video

The Cape range because of tech, love it

Institutions can be completely ignored, and I find it hilarious that the AI still takes them.
They still give bonuses
