Duran Duran was my jam when I was 10 to 12! I had such a crush on John Taylor and at least they played their own instruments, unlike New Skids On Your Shorts 🤮
LFO and new kids were from the 80's. There were other boy bands from the 80's like menudo, new edition, bel biv deVoe and others. Obviously, you were into metal and hair bands, so was I and half my friend group, but we knew of other stuff too. The radio played an eclectic array of all music.
@Ninjanimegamer I agree w @SilverPonyKat while I recognize those bands you mentioned, I thought most of them were the 90s and not the 70s or 80s where my school days were/are from. Love Metal, Hard Rock, Soft Rock but Country Music was popular too for me. Still love Dolly, Reba, Jonny Cash & Hee-Haww 😂😂😂. Can't be held into 1 music genre.😮😮😮 😉
I'm all along the spectrum. From New Edition (even though they were from Boston 😆). To Poison, GnR, U2, Temps though not all boy bands. Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. Mom put on to them at a young age. BROOKLYN 1971
But I think he was referring to strictly boy bands. You are listing heavy metal and hair bands. Just because they are all men, they were not boys. Nor were their bands put together by the music industry. New kids were just teens singing songs given to them and their following were younger kids.
I dunno, I think when you get into 90s bands, that's going a bit beyond the bounds of gen X music, I know I was starting to tune out of new rock/pop in the late 80s.
I thought of Joey Fatone or Howie from backstreet for you Jono 😊 sassy, intelligent, good sense of humor, the best buddies you call when your car breaks down at 3am. They're the guys in the background of all the songs and videos, but those songs and videos wouldn't be at all the same without those guys.
I'm only 54, but I had an early crush on Paul McCartney (Wings era), and starting in my teenage years: John Taylor (Duran Duran), Howard Jones (solo act, not a boy band), Green Gartside (lead singer of Scritti Politti), David Glasper (lead singer of Breathe), and George Michael.
Hey having a thing for Bette Midler is completely understandable. She's incredible. And I am a hair girl, I love guys with long gorgeous hair. Bruce Dickinson, Sebastian Bach, Dave Mustaine(he gets triple points because he's got red hair and it's curly) I mean I could go on and on. I just picked a few to make the point oh and let's not forget the Nelson twins 😉 My musical tastes are very eclectic. Cliff Burton had awesome hair I hope he is jammin out in the Summerlands and having a grand time
It's so cool that you mentioned Bette Midler. She and I went to the same High School. Not at the same time though, but the cool part about is it's in Hawaii. Radford High School. FTW :-) I was an Air Force brat and I think she was an Army brat. LOL
"Cherry Pez, Coke Crush, Rock Stud, Boogie. Used to hate school so I had to play hookie, always been hip to the B-boy style. Known to act wild and make a girl smile, love New Edition and the Candy Girl, remind me of you because you rock my world. You come from Georgia where the peaches grow, they drink lemonade and speak real slow, you love hip hop and rock and roll. Dad took off when you were four years old, there was a good man named Paul Revere, I feel much better, baby, when you're near. You love Fun Dip and a Cherry Coke. I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke, when I met you, I said my name was Rich, you look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch"
The whispers Blue magic The spinners Harold Melvin & the bluenotes The delfonics The Jackson 5 The stylistics The O'Jays now you were saying about the 80 and '90s I think we were doing pretty well in the '70s and '60s.😮
Our middle school and highschool had real rock bands and today they have CDS out still gather at lodges and Christmas resort in Sunriver the best ever Christmas family could ever ask ya keep history but it will cost you and that's ok.
I always hated boy bands. I've only known one person my age who liked boy bands. They obviously had fans, but I guess I just ran in different circles than them.
You do NOT compare "boy bands" to actual musicians, like the Beatles. Ever. If you want to equate the synchronized dancing boy bands of the 80's and 90's to older, talented performers, you compare them to groups like the Temptations or Jackson Five.
Menudo, bel biv deVoe, new editions, boys 11 men, the osmonds, color me bad, the monkeys and lfo. I wasn't a huge fan of boy bands, but at the time I liked some songs; though I'd never admitted to it back then. 🤫
Motley crue, skid row, bon Jovi were my boy bands
@@starrliteification 😂😂😂
My fav band was gnr.
I didn't like boy bands but I am a big fan of the hair bands 😁
Our bedrooms were covered with our favorite ❤ heart throb's❤ Tiger Beat Magazine posters!
Oh yeah, Donny Osmond, David Cassidy. But I must say my favorite was David Lee Roth ❤
I was in love with Corey Feldman and Kirk Cameron in Middle school.
70s, Leif Garrett posters, Shaun Cassidy, Grease posters ( wish I still had those) ❤❤❤❤❤
My first boyband love was New Edition, then NKOTB. Love my Boston boys!
@@angelfishluva291 Mr. Telephone Man... when I dial my baby's number...ahhh the memories!💘
My first were Jackson five, manudo, and new edition. Then Duran Duran❤
Duran Duran was my jam when I was 10 to 12! I had such a crush on John Taylor and at least they played their own instruments, unlike New Skids On Your Shorts 🤮
Haa manudo. I haven't listened to them in years .time to go down that rabbit hole 😂
Who or what the hell is LFO?
Rush, Kiss, Poison, Slaughter, Dio, Zepplin, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper and of course OZZY!!!
LFO and new kids were from the 80's. There were other boy bands from the 80's like menudo, new edition, bel biv deVoe and others.

You missed Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. This time of year, they are THE boy band. 🎄 😇
George...
I glitched for a second there... It happens.
George Harrison is still my favorite…
🐿️🦝 🎶 🎶I’ve got my mind set on you🎶🎶
That video lives rent free in my brain.
Liking Bette is just a matter of taste.
She was great! But, I'm a girl, so...
Bette is Devine. I listened to my Beaches soundtrack so so many times. I still get a little choked listening to Wind Beneath My Wing. 😢
I loved Poison! Those that you mention were in the 90's. I never listened to the ones in the 90's.
*New kids and lfo were from the 80's.
I'm all along the spectrum. From New Edition (even though they were from Boston 😆). To Poison, GnR, U2, Temps though not all boy bands. Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. Mom put on to them at a young age. BROOKLYN 1971
Bon Jovi, and Duran Duran were my two favorites and then we have Ratt and Van Halen, just too many to name.
But I think he was referring to strictly boy bands. You are listing heavy metal and hair bands. Just because they are all men, they were not boys. Nor were their bands put together by the music industry.
New kids were just teens singing songs given to them and their following were younger kids.
George Harrison was the fourth one
JOEY JOEY JOEY !!!! He was my N-Sync crush when I was young. Hahaa
Jordan Knight for me
and it did not hurt that my last name was Knight - I had some people convinced he was my cousin LOL
I even bought his cd!!😆 ‘Give it to you’ still my jam!😄
Ummmmm & NEW EDITION. Absolute LEGENDS. Still live performing present day,
Jackson 5
I was so in love with Johnathan from New Kids on the Block. I loved the shy guy vibe he had haha
I was way more into 80's hair bands than boy bands
Fair enough
HEY!!! what bout us guys...Vixen...Heart....Pat Benatar....Stevie Nicks...Lita Ford.... need i go on???
Yea! the walls of homework distraction
Yes. You’re definitely a Joey.
I liked Danny from NKOTB, Joey for sure. Boys II Men was a favorite.
New Edition,, Boyz 2 Men, The Boyz, Another Bad Creation and Troop
All they were, were the 7 dwarfs.. lol😊
Most, maybe, but not all. I never had one.
I remember when Duran Duran formed a band called Arcadia in 1985, didn't last long though. Nick Rhodes was my dream guy.
I dunno, I think when you get into 90s bands, that's going a bit beyond the bounds of gen X music, I know I was starting to tune out of new rock/pop in the late 80s.

Menudo constantly changed the line up when they got too old & the girl with the locker next to mine was sobbing and rearranging pictures.😂
Color me bad. 😂
They played that song so much on the radio that I can't even listen to it. I can't stand that song anymore. 😂😂😂😂
NEW EDITION will ALWAYZZZZZ have my love 😍
I'm only 54, but I had an early crush on Paul McCartney (Wings era), and starting in my teenage years: John Taylor (Duran Duran), Howard Jones (solo act, not a boy band), Green Gartside (lead singer of Scritti Politti), David Glasper (lead singer of Breathe), and George Michael.
George Harrison. The hottest Beatle❤️🔥.

Just keep hanging tough…
Cheap Trick....
I was a hard core girl. AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zepplin, etc.
Good taste. Joey Fatone was my bf's favourite NSYNC member too
Could totally see myself hanging out and having a few beers
@@genxjono Definitely!

Your more of a Geddy Lee, just Sayin 😂😂😂
I never got to listen to the music but Menudo was a really popular band.
Ummm. DURAN DURAN, Hello????!!!!
And none of us cared 😅
Menudo!
New Kids Got Run Over by a reindeer, going home from our house Christmas Eve....🎶

Yer, as a GenX girl in the 80's and 90's I was Rock & Metal all the way, until I had to add Rap when Eminem came along 😂
Sorry but in the UK and Ireland we had Take That, Boyzone and Westlife. Superior music and cuter boys. It is what it is😂.
NKOTB is the best LAST boy band ever. EVER😂❤
You could be Jared from new Monkees
Def Leppard
✨ Joey 💜 Fatone was my guy ~ 🍻
Paul
For the Beatles you leave out George? I forget what comedian said this but "Here Comes the Sun bitches" =)
Our middle school and highschool had real rock bands and today they have CDS out still gather at lodges and Christmas resort in Sunriver the best ever Christmas family could ever ask ya keep history but it will cost you and that's ok.
You can't forget about Menudo
Don't forget to use your Windex (MBFGW) reference.
You remembered Ringo, but not George? To sunny in the US for Here Comes the Sun?
Duran Duran❤
You forgot Davy Jones from The Monkees!
The Monkees were the original, Micky Dolenz is the best in my book but all were pretty amazing 😊
I loved Davy Jones ❤
@ediebegonia He was adorable, and the accent! *swoons*
New Edition!
Us Gen x started the boy band we are ground zero with the Jackson 5 and New edition 😅 and on and on

Duran Duran
So he well go to the Italian guy in the band.
Love NKOTB
New Edition
Van Halen
I didn't like the boy bands. I was in love with Axl Rose and James Hetfield. Why settle for a boy when you could have a man.
🤣Woooow... LFO? Really? 💀💀💀
You don't look like Joey Fat one
Sir how dare you not mention BoyzIIMen
The BEATLES were NOT a boy Band they were Rock n Roll , boy bands were all a joke!!!!
Gay is wrong
Hated those crappy bands
Not a fan of the term “boy band.” They’re not bands!!! They’re groups. Blergh
Menudo, bel biv deVoe, new editions, boys 11 men, the osmonds, color me bad, the monkeys and lfo.
I wasn't a huge fan of boy bands, but at the time I liked some songs; though I'd never admitted to it back then. 🤫
