      To be fair to David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon played brilliantly then, doesn’t make a difference who was guarding him. No player that ever played. And in defense of Robinson, he played Olajuwon straight up. No doubling up.

      @FuShengAlex 4 роки тому +2

      @@asvirgil7841 if David Robinson could play with his back to the basket or had a consistent post up game, he'd have elevated from being a top 6-10 all time Center to the top 5 ever.
      Olajuwon fan here. But to be fair he wasnt given much to work with before Duncan came. And Rodman cowardly just threw in the towel that series.
      I think in the entire league in most of the 90s he and Olajuwon were carrying the heaviest loads for their teams at both ends

    Jordan was only out 1 full year. His team lost to the Magic in 1995 playoffs and then Hakeem and the rockets swept that Magic team. So Jordan came back for a portion of a season and was training before that appearance.

    Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Ewing, Robinson, etc...were good centers. Hakeem was the greatest. Nobody could carry a team to multiple championships without All-Star or Hall of Fame help like Dream. To battle some of the most elite centers in the NBA during those championship runs was legendary. To make different teams of scrub players look decent means only one thing. Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Curry, etc...couldn't carry Dream's jock strap, much less win with teams and players the Rocket's organization surround him with. Dream is the GreatestOfAllTime!

    In 22 regular season games against the Rockets MJ had a 10-12 career record.
    Rockets & Bulls would've met in 95 but in that playoff series with the Magic, Penny & Shack eliminated MJ and the bulls only to turn around and get swept by the Rockets in the finals. That was a special Rockets team. They had a formula, a perfect chemistry between each other. You double Hakeem they kill with the 3 ball. They had 6 shooters who could put the dagger in your heart, CLUTCH SHOOTERS!
    The Rockets really would've beat the bulls for the title had they got pass the Magic.
    The key is this, Luke Longley would've been on Hakeem. Maxwell would've been on Jordan. Those match up would've decided that series

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 4 роки тому

      The Bulls didn't have the frontcourt in 95 to beat the Magic with Rodman not being there yet. What people don't realize though is the Rockets would be a tough matchup even with Rodman, Horry was drawing him away from the basket a lot in the 95 WCF that gets overlooked because of Dream's dominant performance. Maxwell was also gone already by then Drexler replaced him.

    Personally, I think the 1993 or 1994 Rockets give a Jordan Bulls team either year all they can handle. The 93 Rockets lost to Seattle in 7 games in part due to some horrible officiating. That said, I don't think the 1995 Rockets match up well because I think Vernon was gone, or was pouting bc Clyde was there and Clyde can't guard Jordan. Plus the 95 team didn't have Thorpe after the trade, so how would the Rockets handle Rodman? Just my .02

      @@brucewayne1662 Even with Rodman the 95 Rockets were a difficult matchup for him. Horry was pulling him away from the basket constantly and Dream had the mobility to keep up with Rodman. Shaq in comparison was a power player who was thrown off by Rodman's speed and Rodman was able to focus on him more often with Grant injured.

    Robert Horry has more championship rings than Michael Jordan Haha. Vernon Maxwell guarded Jordan better than anyone at that time. No one stops olajuwon. Game over.

    Hakeem the dream is the best two way center ever in the history of the game of basketball period!
    If I could pick anyone in their prime in history of basketball. Hakeem would be #1. In reality he was also picked #1 over MJ and no one in their right mind ever questions that.
    For me my top all time picks at each position are as follows:
    Hakeem @ center
    Tim Duncan @ pf
    LBJ @ sf
    Jordan @ sg
    Magic @ pg
    There is no single goat 🐐. Because NBA traditionally is a position based game. It has traditional roles for each position based on that positions own criteria’s. It’s not watered down position less basketball of today with no hardcore defense. Thus, different eras, different positions, and differences in the rules have to be taken into account.

    I dont understand why people always try to shit on Hakeems teammates like he was the only good player on the team. Those two championship runs they had good teams. Horry, Kenny Smith, Maxwell, Thorpe, Cassel, Drexler were either part of both or one of those teams. Just because someone doesn't make the all-star team doesn't mean they're not good. There's plenty of guys that get snubbed from all-star teams.

    Sadly that I know "the dream" too late. I've been a hoop fan since I was 10 but I didn't know anything about him, even when I play NBA live. Hakeem was a legend in the 80's and the 90's but at that time when I play NBA live, I was only know that from the 80's we have Bird, Dr J, Magic and from the 90's we have MJ, Stock, Mailman, Pip. It was not until 2015 that I knew him when I watch the 1984 draft, that was shame for me.

    The Dream was great! I respect and agree with everything RH says here about Dream's greatness! But, if the Rockets would have won those two titles even if MJ was playing, why didn't they win any before or after MJ's baseball break?

      It was tougher to get out of the West with there being about 4 other contending teams along with the Rockets (in 95 the Rockets didn't even have a top 4 record). The East only had the Bulls, Pacers, and Knicks as long term contenders in that era.

      Maxwell wasn't there for the 95 championship he left in the 1st round. The Rockets were actually struggling before then because they had too many ball handlers and they hadn't figured out to put Horry at PF yet. With Maxwell gone Drexler got to handle the ball more often.
      Also everyone on the Bulls was already there when they lost to the Magic the first time except Rodman. Even with Rodman the Rockets proved to be a difficult matchup for him when he was with the Spurs. Horry was pulling him away from the basket a lot and Dream had the mobility to keep up with him compared to Shaq who got thrown off by Rodman's speed.

    The most elegant basketball player of all time and its not even a contest. His footwork was a gift from God. He wasnt that tall, i mean he was like 6'9-6'10 despite what NBA stats used to say (I met him) but he had such natural talent to move around the basket like not other player I've seen.

    Lol what else is Horry supposed to say,” we were hold the titles until MJ returned” 😆. That’s basically what Houston did. Ask for stopping Hakeem, They couldn’t but the bulls always made key trades to nullify. They probably would have picked up Dennis Rodman a lot sooner.

    Thats right, i don´t want to call it fixing or anything, but i assume that because of Nike and the shoes and all the money involved... the NBA knew if they keep Hakeem away from the finals, they could let the finals be the finals and MJ would win. If they had not done so they had to foul Hakeem out for the same result and fans might get suspicious...
    So probably it was the right decision. In a 7 game series between 1990 and 1996 Bulls Rockets the Rockets should win 4 out of 6 times at least.
    And if you think who the f...k is Robert Horry... compare how many rings MJ and Scotti and Kobe and Shaq and Magic and Bird have !

    Hakeem was great, but IMO the Rockets wouldn't have won both championships if they matched up with the Bulls. They might have won the 1995 championship. The Knicks took them 7 games in 1994. Let that sink in. The KNICKS took them to 7 games. Scottie Pippen nearly took the Bulls to the finals by himself in 94. With Jordan, Bulls win in 94 easily.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 4 роки тому

      Pippen wasn't by himself. Why do you think they were struggling most of the following year and couldn't get past the Magic in the playoffs? It was because Grant left turning their interior into jello and that exact same guy along with Shaq manhandled them inside.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 4 роки тому

      Also Horry could pull Rodman or Grant away from the basket, that's what happened against the Spurs and Magic didn't it? So it wasn't only Dream that would've been a problem.

    Where is the Rockets in 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98. They may win a game or two against the Bulls, but they (including you) didn't win the championship. MJ didn't play a complete season nin 94 and 95, if he did, you won't be in that chair talking about Houston, you maybe talking about your supporting role with the Lakers, damn fool!
