I'm not sure I have the same enthusiasm as others. 85% of the pollution is made during the manufacture of a device. For example in wind turbines there are rare metals such as magnets and copper. Ditto in the mirrors of solar power plants. They contain copper, lead.
Has Google taken into account the entire chain of creation of devices to generate the "renewable" energy they use to say that they compensate in carbon equivalent?
All scientists agree that the best renewable energy is to consume as little as possible. Every hour around the world, more than 140 million queries are made on Google. According to Harvard researcher Wissner-Gross, each Google request emits 7 grams of CO2. So in one hour, the CO2 emitted by emails from all over the world is equivalent to 1000 Paris - New York round trips.
How is google working to reduce this consumption?

yes they can here is how: google has exactly 132,121 employees, a normal human adult produce around 700g of co2/day.
using the power of math(132,121x700) we can calculate that google produces 92,484kg of co2/day through human breathing alone, and we know that on average a pine tree absorbs 118kg of co2/day, so as long as they plant 783 pine trees they can bring their total carbon dioxide production to 0 which means carbon-free.
And it seems from their video that they are working out an even better way to solve this 1:57 "remove carbon from the atmosphere through science-based reforestation"

I'd like to know what is meant by "science based reforestation", I'm asking because I know an example forest which burned down august 2018 in Brandenburg, Germany. The city administration planted trees shortly after and and many of them dried out, there are trees on that field but the vast majority of them were not planted and regrew naturally. At the other end which also burned down but got left to nature, nature is regenerating and preparing the eco system to get back to it's natural cycle, even after a fire. There aren't just herbacous plants that grow but poplars, pine and other trees.
I'm sceptical about this, but if you want to reforestate something you can and should just take care of a space you want trees and plants to grow on and leave it alone. I'd like to read the science papers upon which your attempt is based on.

your google action doesn't make sense. human activity can change the temperature on Earth by a maximum of 0.5 degrees Celsius. taking into account the entire planet - including India, Russia and South America.
The sun's activity has the greatest impact on the temperature on the ground and we have no influence on it, so do not invent shares that are only supposed to draw money from our wallets for something that does not make sense!

@@metalenski9174 Stop spreading lies, since the 1950's human activity has raised Earth's climate by 0.65 degrees. Even though this is seemingly small, it can have drastic effects on how the ecosystem works. For example, half a degree of increased temperature would double the length of droughts.
While yes the sun does have a large impact on Earth and we can not change it, scientists have confirmed with satellites that the sun has not had an upward trend in temperature since the 1970's. Additionally, if the sun was causing all of this then we'd see it in all layers of the atmosphere, instead, we're only seeing this increase in temperature at the surface where we are emitting all the CO2.

@@dieudonnebahati2082 Before I respond, don’t listen to me. Read my response, but then go look at current climate information and reports yourself. Avoid biased articles, and just look at current data and projections. I will state my opinion based on recent facts and data, but stuff in this field can become outdated or updated very quickly. _*Do your due diligence, and research*_.
Now, firstly, I am aware that this isn’t its “final form”. Thats part of what I mentioned in my original comment, although its not really as obvious as a “form” change, and is currently accelerating in its effects on our weather patterns and general climate.
Look, I know that UA-cam comment conversations don’t go anywhere generally, so I’ll keep this as short as I can:
There is a lag effect between scientist’s climate models and actual reality, and that lag effect is one of the many “killers” in this climate crisis. Truth is, even if we cut all greenhouse gas emissions right now (which is not possible and won’t happen), the runaway emissions that we have been chucking into the atmosphere for decades now will continue to circulate, and therefore continue to raise the temperature worldwide, as well as in oceans, etc. And in this scenario, we would still see massive repercussions.
Google is giving you lip service. Its a fantastic step in the right direction, but albeit a step misplaced and too late. Action on the climate is something that should have occurred decades upon decades ago, and because of constant neglect by world leaders, we are instead facing the dire consequences right now...and it will only get worse in the years to come..
Ive not even mentioned the in’s and out’s of the massive slew of agricultural issues and famine, societal dilemma, mass migrations, collapse possibilities that go along with this topic...
Not trying to demean you man, but just giving you my reasoning...

Out in the country we use cardboard as a soil mulch with leaves on top around our vegetables, trees, and shrubs (blueberries, yum!). Please pass the word to companies to begin using tapes and other packaging that are bio degradable so we can use this cardboard without eventual pollution of our soil. We have no recycling out here, so if we can turn things, not just tapes, into compost or mulch to eventually turn to compost, it will cut way back on the rubbish heaps we have in the country. We drive 15 miles to the store and it would be nice to have more degradable packaging of all sorts. Thanks for passing this along.

That the company and the google premises are becoming more and more carbon neutral with ecological challenges is a very good thing.
However, what is google? This company provides the biggest source of information. But to access this content we have to connect to electronic devices (Laptops, Computers, Tablets; etc...) These electronic devices that were and still are manufactured by the millions / billions contribute strongly to the pollution of the planet.
