Useful, thank you. Collapsaible mugs weren't available in my touring days. I carried a rigid mug and made good use of the space by stuffing it with something - eg spare gloves or socks.
I am very much alive 😉. Just been taking a little winter break now in the oss-season. Filming up here in during the dark winter is so difficult, but now that the days are getting longer I'm able to make some videos again. Watch out, I'll be back in the near future!
In October I rode through France on a trip from London to Mallorca and I used the same chain lube - brilliant, but as it is a wax/water based emulsion it is better to put it on in the evening, that way the water evaporates and leaves just the wax behind. Worked a treat for me and I only had to re-apply every 3 - 4 days (when it rains however you have to apply daily). Great videos, loved to watch the series.
I concur here. I'm also using the same chain lube for my bikes. It's recommended to apply that lube in the evening, so it's ready to ride in the morning.
Mike, you mentioned that your lantern was a little bulky. I have a solar lantern with a collapsable frosted shade. It folds flat. I hook it to the top of my rear pannier charging when touring. The power output ranges from 3 to 6 hours depending on the watt setting I have it on. I highly recommend it. At home it hangs folded in a south facing window, so it is always charged and ready for a power outage.
Hi Mikael thanks for another great video. Question: if you had tot start all over again from scratch, no panniers, no bags, no tent, not even a bicycle. Would you make the same choices? Would you have both panniers and backpacks so you can choose according to the kind of roads on the trip? Or one over the other? Would you still buy the Kona Sutra? The Naturehike tent? And so on...
Thanks for video and ur experience. If you increase front side bags on fork till 10L each one u can avoid a mess in your bags. For example I use my 2 fork bags for storing all things for camp, rear bag for clothes, bag under tube for electronics and repair kit for bike and handlebar for meal and staff for cooking. Each thing has his own place and everything is sorting by its purpose.
Nice one Mike, was wondering whilst watching your first video from this trip why you went for the bike packing setup over the touring setup, so thanks for explaining. It's always handy to know what others are bringing on their trips for our own inspiration.
Nice video. I finally got my question answered that I posed on your last video and that was if you carried the plastic bag and tape you used to package your bike for the flight. Keep up the good work and keep on traveling 🎄🎅🏻
One question Mike...your sleeping bag is the model without the hood ? also I recommend you a frame lock, you can use it everywhere and you can use the space for other things, also I didn't see any zip ties, maybe you should include this, thanks!
Hi Mike! I have a question about the camera, have you considered the Sony RX100, the same one Ryan uses? What made you choose E10? Do you use a standard 16-50 lens or did you buy something better? Thanks for your answer and greetings from Norway! Great movies and great adventures ♥🤘🇳🇴
Hi Mike I've the Ortlieb back roller plus cordura type front and back in your opinion are they capable of long distance touring or should I of brought the classic pannier instead?.Thankyou
I just got rid of my canon g7x iI camera just not great on battery life or transfer data on the go..do you feel your bikepacking setup is organized.. to me it feels like your packing just to fill space.. like tradation cycle touring panniers bags setup… .. just a thought
Actually I didn't pay anything. I brought it along as my check-in luggage. As long as you stay under 23kg/50 lbs and let them know when you bookt the ticket, SAS I great that way. They let you bring your bike for free.
Hello Mike, I have a question. You mentioned that you have one extra t-shirt but you haven't used it. So you wear one t-shirt for the whole week? Do you wast it every day (or second day)? Or is it some special material or you just don't care :)? I am just curious about the practical staff on journey like this. Thank you for the answer!
I got mine at a hardware store here in Sweden called Biltema. I don't know where you're located, but if you just do a seach for "cee schuko adapter" on Amazon you'll be able to find what you're looking for.
I'm currently on a new tour right now. I'll start editing the videos from this tour as soon as I get back. The first video should be here in a couple of weeks time.
Hey Mike, I've been watching your videos for a while now, you inspired me to do my own solo bikepacking trip in Scotland. Would love it if you were able to check it out and give me your thoughts. Cheers!! The vid is just on my channel.
For a full list of the gear I'm using, check the description.

Mike, where are you? Missing sundays videos so much! Hope you are well! Greetings from Germany!

@@BikeTouringMike Thank you for answering! Glad you are "very much" alive! So until the next time - have a good one🤗
Thanks for showing the gear you use. Enjoyed your France trip.
Good to see you again. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing this with us.
That's a pretty impressive amount of gear you can strap on for your tour. Thanks for sharing this with us.
We're very similar in what we carry on treks. I always seem to pack too much. I have been getting better at cutting down on the clothing.
Good to see you Mike.
Kona Sutra or Trek 520?
Hope you back riding soon 👍
Hi Mike, going on my first 2 night bike touring trip here in New Zealand tomorrow, it’s going to be a real learning experience, love your videos.

Thank you Mike
Just what I had asked for earlier
Perfect
Just joined your channel and I wanted to say that your content is just what I was after regarding bike packing

Nice video of the gear setup.
Will try to build something like this in the next bikeseason.
A bit to much snow up here right now =)
Very nice Video!! Thanks Mike☺️🙏
Nemo sleeping pads are nice, but both ours have failed and been replaced under warranty.
Mike where are you? We miss your videos
Hi Mike! I love your videos! Is a new video coming anytime soon? ❤
Did I miss where the tent is stored?
Mike, do you have a link to the blue power adapter you use at the campground?
Good to see you sharing how you’ve packed everything, and btw how tall are you and what size is the bike ?
I am 188 cm/6"2 and my bike is a XL model.

Hi Mike. Loved the series 👍 How much does it cost to ship your bike from Sweden to France?
Actually I didn't pay anything. I brought it along as my check-in luggage. As long as you stay under 23kg/50 lbs and let them know when you bookt the ticket, SAS I great that way. They let you bring your bike for free.
@@BikeTouringMike Thats amazing. Have to remember that 👍

You're like the new Darren Alf
Hi thanks for your videos, can you tell me where you got you campsite electric connector/adaptor? Thanks

Where ya at Mike?
Where are you stopped the videos?
