actually, newer anime is more tamed and older anime is either darker or more out of pocket because people are more SENSATIVE now in 2010+
So any show before 2010 tends to be crazier and holds nothing back. (BUT, im ngl, it is what I honestly feel makes anime unique and different, and I prefer people dont judge it as too much or out of pocket if possible.)
P.S. the version of code geass you found is actually censored A BIT because they removed/edited out the Pizza Hut logo in the episodes, which is ICONIC to code geass.
@@mufi35 were the parts after season 1 & 2 any good? i heard bad things so i never watched it out of fear of it ruining the main series. the ending for season 2 was just too perfect so i figured any continuation was just a bad mark on the series but i would like to be wrong about that. oh had to add this i dont need a summary or anything i dont want you guys to spoil it for my man here just tell me if you saw it and if you think its good or not after season 2. i dont need details i dont want to be spoiled either.
Btw, as repeated like 10 times by the characters, Lelouch and the other students are Britannians, not Japanese (Suzaku is Japanese though). I mean, Lelouch's name is even french (lamperouge= red lamp), how could he be Japanese.
Some Britannians just live in Japan, as colonisers I guess.

watch it with japanese. It does not matter if english is also good as dub but the original will always be more immersive and will sound how it should be. The english dub always carries some ,,noise" which feels weird

Code Geass is really something special, it's my 3rd or 4th anime and the one that got me addicted. I watched the entire thing in one sitting, pulled an all nighter because it hooked me immediately. You're in for a ride.

Yes, yes! Code Geass is that rare show that's actually gorgeously dubbed. The actor who voiced Lelouch in english is Johnny Yong Bosch, very talented VA, couple of scenes litererally made me cry because of him. You may also know him from other shows and games, as example Nero from Devil May Cry. Have a good time.
I would argue this might be Yong Bosch's defining role - it's certainly thanks to Code Geass (and Haruhi Suzumiya) that I, at least, became a fan of his dubbing
Johnny has several iconic roles. Lelouch, Vash, and Ichigo are probably his most notable.

You've seen Death Note and I remember that you've already watched a mecha anime so here's one that sort of has a mix between the two - smart characters battling with wits and robots (and magic powers!). Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Lelouch's name is pronounced "Lulush" hence one of his friend's nickname for him is "Lulu". He's Britannian and the school shown here earlier is a Britannian school and since he's wearing their school uniform, others know he's Britannian.
Glad to see Code Geass won. Kinda wish you were watching the dubbed cause its one of the rare anime that I really enjoy the dub for.

A little backstage stuff: Sunrise, famous for Gundam, etc. told the staff to make whatever, so long as it had mecha kits to merchandise til the fans wallets ran dry. Also, the anime industry was going through a high-school drama phase so whatever they made must have to be in a school setting. So there's the underlying bones, mecha fights and schoolkids.

And anyway, I believe the reason why love to move king first when playing chess is because she believe the good king is the king that's can lead his people in front, not just waiting on the back and watch them struggle
Code Geass likes to use Chess a lot. It's mostly metaphorical, but this first game is actually very accurate. Chess experts have checked out the board state and confirmed that moving the King is the right move. It even explains why Lelouch smiled when the noble laughed. The fact that he couldn't see that Lelouch was making the exact correct move meant he couldn't counter his moves to win the game.
That being said, it's also a metaphor in this story as well. Lelouch moves the King because "if the King doesn't lead how can he expect his subordinates to follow?"
Code Geass has more turns than a corkscrew collection. Have fun. It's gonna be a ride.

I'm glad that I see less & less people posting lines like "Unlike other mecha shows, this one focuses more on the character!". That is such a nothing statement which only highlight that the people who said it have never watched a good deal of mecha shows from beginning to end. Either that or they really have skewed view towards the mecha genre.

I'll be sitting this one out. I am glad I watched this one a long time ago. I was watching the beginning of it with a bunch of people sometime last year. I am still impressed no one asked me to shut up with my sarcastic commentary. Must have been somewhat amusing. 🤣
I thought it will be UA-cam reaction since it’s like two scenes of nudity. Also it has so good ending, I think best ending I’ve watched (I’m not a huge fan of AOT ending - it was ok but nothing really amazing).
Also this series is made anime only, and from what I’ve watched, it’s the best one.

I don't think this is spoiler. But basically everyone who look like normal civilians and those students they are all Britanian. Basically they moved from their homeland to live here and expand(basically similar to British colonies)

Fun fact, the anime was written by a now famous Sunrise writer: Ichiro Okouchi. He's done a few Gundam light novels before this and since then he wrote Gundam The Witch From Mercury as well.

the former Japanese (11's) that didn't become honorary Britannians (usually by joining the military) all lived in the ruins of Shinjuku because they are 3rd class citizens, they basically had no rights and if they ever got caught in a area meant for the first and second class citizens they'd usually get bullied out pretty quickly

Code Geass has nudity? I watched it and the movie compilations (which makes some changes for the sequel movie that are not cannon to this anime) and I do not remember seeing anythign that was actual nudity in it...ya you have maybe 1 bath scene were you basically see nothing due to the angle chosen (nothing worse than the 'naked' scenes of the green haired girl you see in the opening) but that's it from my memory. If it was due to concerns with copyright claims I could see why you'd not want it on YT for that reason but I don't think anything it does would really get flagged besides for that (copyright) reasons).

To answer your question without spoiling... Lelouch is a Britannian living in Japan and befriended a Japanese Kid Suzaku before the Britannian Empire conquered it, destroying the peaceful life that he and his crippled sister enjoys.

Sub and dub are both great. I've seen it more than once each way. I personally like the sub a tiny bit more, but I think it'll be a great experience either way.
Code Geass along with FMAB and Clannad are ones i can whole heartedly recommend either sub or dub, the few rare great dubs (FMAB being the only one I overall prefer dub for)

Oh man you're gonna love this anime since you liked Death Note so much! These two were almost considered a set back in the day, they have a very similar vibe? with the mind games and genius protagonists, but this one is very unique and very good in its own right too. One of the all time classic anime, and it does age pretty well aside from a couple weird filler episodes that feel very mid 2000s lol. Yes Lelouch is a Britannian, most of the people who live in that nice modern city are Britannian colonists, whereas the Japanese/Elevens live in the ghettos like what you saw. His friend with brown hair is Japanese but joined the Britannian army and became an honorary citizen. More of their backstories will be revealed as you go.

if you love Death Note then you're gonna love Code Geass since the MC uses his brain a lot. A smart protagonist in an action anime is pretty fresh at the time this was released.
Even though what you said technically isn't a spoiler of events it still spoils by setting to early of an expectation about the MC which he will slowly get to learn more about as he watches it. I recommend that you delete this comment
