The only time I didn't like Yukari was when the group went to Port Island outskirts and egged those tough characters on. Everyone told her to shut up and she still went on and didn't care about the consequences until Junpei got hurt.
she is still a teenager after all. Definitely a teenager moment. Her defiant attitude also kinda makes sense to me considering she doesn't have a stable parental figure in her life
@@VelvetAura Her being a teen isn't an excuse for making an already dangerous situation even worth with her ego and bad mouth, which would've gotten her and MC hurt and already got Junpei hurt before Shinji stepped in. Neither is her home life. What she did was just plain stupid.
One of the things that threw me for a loop my first time playing p3, is when it’s December and everyone’s freaking out because they might die and Yukari says “what’s wrong? Are you scared?” Like NO SHIT. Looking back, I see it as a character trait that she has, to tease people even when it seems inappropriate. I don’t know if that makes sense or not.
@@yaboichris1247 Yep, I completely forgot about that moment. I actually remembered it when I rewatched the video when IT WAS DONE 😭😭 But yeah that’s when her teasing and “hating” on Junpei was getting too far.
@@nerogoro She immediately apologizes and she also protects Makoto when Junpei started to lay blame on him so her kindness is clear👌. I find this very normal cause as a teen I also used to do dumb stuff like that.
If you want a truly controvertial character there is akechi... like many people hate yukateca, and many others love her, but the fact that is she is well written isn't denied really, the debate is wether she is annoying or not.
"Annoying"? Anymore annoying than Junpei's immaturity? Fuuka's passivity? Mitsuru's naivety? Akihiko's single-mindedness? Ken's hypocrisy? Shinjiro's low self esteem? They're character flaws, I miss the part were those are meant to be seen as anything apart from weaknesses. Many of those same people will also complain about characters without overly pronounced flaws, and dub them "boring". So making a multifaceted, flawed character of interest? Egregious offense. Making a character without so noticeably glaring flaws? Boring, and also an egregious offense. The "debate" as you put it, are mostly hypocrites who have about as much understanding of literature as they do the world outside their nations' borders....VERY little. Here's the point, one type of character asks the player to think much more carefully than the other, and instead of looking at the greater picture, looking at the why "X" "Y" and/or "Z" happened as any logical person would. They turn their brains off. So how is anyone suppose to take them seriously outside of the context that these might very well be the ones the writers listen to?
@@Ninja07Keaton i'm not saying that her being annoying is bad, that is the point, she is agresive and annoying in the beginning and stops being so in the end of the game. I'm just saying that the main debate is wether or not she is and is why she is "controvertial". To me, being annoying doesn't make a character controvertial in any way.
I do think she likes junpei. She just doesn't like his flirty nature and the fact he's lazy but she does see him as a friend. Her being happy for him if you decide to bring chidori back is proof of that. I guess you could call them frenemies.
I actually hated how they watered down the escalation on the Answer... The original She was very antagonistic about the party members who dont agree with her displaying how desperate she was to go back to the past which made sense for the conflict, but in Reload she just decides "Nah fuck this, imma just take your key" and breaks down after she's lost
I feel like the most controversial character. Is actually just the female main character for portable I mean...... You don't get much... more controversial than that
@DynoSkrimisher yeah, you can play as a female main character in persona, 3 portable. In fact, instead of getting the female part of sees as social links, you get to have the male members of SEES as social links. Including the amazing Koro-chan
@@Jamie_black it's not a problem with the character if you think about it for 2 seconds, yes it's messed up that Ken is a romance option, but it's not the character's fault (btw I may be wrong but isn't there a way of completing his social link without romancing him?)
You forgot the part where in the original Persona 3 FES the Answer where Yukari tried to kill Aigis. So they explained to the group that without her key Aigis would potentially die and in front of everyone after Aigis won all the keys, she tries to yank them away from Aigis. I mean I really doubt she could have actually pri them off of Aigis’ mechanical hands but it is something to note.
@@BasementDweller_ Metis never detailed HOW Aigis would lose her life by losing her key during the debate. She kinda just yelled at her and put her head down for 5 seconds keeping that detail for herself for some odd reason and in Reload that detail comes way after the fight takes place. So to Yukari her goal doesn't change her situation, in both versions she gains no info.
I already knew that there was more to yukari when she was the one sitting by your side when you woke up in the hospital and opened up to you. I wish she would be a bit nicer to junpei though. I'm super close to finishing fes, but i also started playing reload. Lord forgive me.
To clarify one thing if anyone miss it in the game it is said that Yukari and Junpei have been in the same class since they were young so that kind of banter can be expected given their characters.
man the only thing I hated about yukari is how much she hated on junpei like relax still one of the most well written characters and materials saver with basically full party heal for 2-4-11 sp
@@maxmelee1145There's a difference between hate and brotherly-sisterly classmate banter. It's not really any different to the other group dynamics in Persona like Chie to Yosuke or Ann to Ryuji but I guess Yukari gets singled out because she has more defined reasons and a built-up dynamic before the game even started.
@@maxmelee1145 I mean she doesn’t genuinely hate him though 😭 It’s like the same dynamic with Chie with Yosuke and Ann with Ryuji and Yusuke with Futaba 😭
2:22 there’s actually fourth lovers arcana character, Lisa Silverman (from Persona 2)! you should look into her character, she’s my personal favorite (with yukari being second of course)
I absolutely HATED Yukari all throughout p3reload. I really wanted to give her a chance, but man, sometimes Junpei was just chilling and out of nowhere Yukari would go and be MEAN. Like a BULLY. I swear, if Yukari and Junpei were genderswapped istg people would cancel her IMMEDIATELY. I think she's well written as a character, but she didn't have to be so F mean. Gosh. Obnoxious.
She was worse in the original game. Her character seriously was a deviation from what she was supposed to be. Reload, at least, made her kinder, like she was originally supposed to be. Her bitchiness was a byproduct of bad localization in the original game. Yukari in Reload is downright adorable, and her warm, loving nature is shown more in the linked episodes where she becomes determined to cook the MC a delicious meal, and the beach scene where you're given the option to hug her, and she reciprocates the hug.
I've warmed up alot to Yukari over the years. She still has her moments of being "hard to get along with" to put it nicely, but the way she's written is realistic and this goes for the others, All the characters in P3 are flawed but very human. Junpei is my favourite character in the game and my favourite best friend in the series. Yukari is actually very sweet, she just has a rare disease called "junpei derangement syndrome" that I pray she can find a cure for one day.
Honestly I love her whole character, that includes her flaws and boy does she have many. The first time I got reversed in her SL, it clicks to me that she's not just an average NPC made just to like the MC and everything's happy ever after. She's a character that have so much troubles and much angst that she don't know what to do, she's a real teenage girl in a series filled with nothing but high schoolers. One thing that bothers me in Persona SL/Confidant is that everyone is happy dandy with the MC, the troubles they got almost always from external factors. So far only Yukari have unique trait in that she's the only one that her character herself the caused of the drama in the SL with real consequences. And for that I respect her, even in The Answer since her one defining emotions for door-kun situation was pain of denial. She's high above among Persona cast IMO.
That one ace defective clip where Yukari says "that" word exists because it was actually a line said by her voice actress in a hentai. Or so I've heard.
Wait, like actual Michelle Ruff (her English VA for every appearance up until Reload when they recast all the main characters)? She was in a hentai??? Where did you hear this info? The internet must investigate...
17:50 as for this part, yeah, it's a bit though how things like social media and the opinions of some people can really influence others in terms of what they like. Even that happened to me, so as for now I've started at trying to form my own opinions and likes, and not really base them or get them influenced from the opinions of others. I still have ways to go, but it's there.
Yes, she misses her shots a lot in P3FES. But because she uses a ranged weapon, her misses don't cause her to fall down and become vulnerable. Still, she's only really good for healing, which MC can take up due to being an MC, and Wind element, which again, MC has it covered.
15:29 Pfft- what the hell is this?! I thought we were talking about Yukari, this sounds more like a Total Drama character! Like, I get why some people see Yukari as this, but she's usually never this venomous or mean by default, folks.
I think the only Yukari moment I hated most was the one in the Yakushima trip where you have to go and make sure she's fine after discovering her dad was involved in the creation of the dark hour. It's understandable when she ran off after such harsh revelation, but the only part I didn't really understand well was when she ends up blowing up at the protagonist when he/she wants to comfort her, and then yells that he/she doesn't know her. Like girl, the MC just wanted to make sure you don't end up hurting yourself any further, and mainly so that you weren't outside when the dark hour happened (which is what happens in the movies, but the part where she gets angry at the MC was omitted, so there's that). I guess that happen because she still had to let out those expressions after what happened, only that the one that had to receive that was the poor MC lol. Thankfully, after that happens she figures what happened and apologizes to the protagonist. Apart from that, I don't really hate her, it's just that she ends up being one of the characters that develops a lot more than the others, even when The Answer happens (compared to others there, like Ken and Junpei, who have already developed in character quite a bit before), and IIRC when P4A:U happens she's finally a more reasonable girl, with all the character development she had accompaning her (compared to Akihiko, who uuh is the SEES member that forgot he had character development and is even more hotheaded and rash than he was in P3 lol).
Nah seriously bro, she's just joking. She honestly cares for her friends and also junpei, i think she just dont know how to express her feelings other than joking or teasing on him. You went on too deep into a hateful character while she is just that teasing strong willed girl, while i know that her comment on the whole "you scared ?" Was too much but again it strengthen my point where i said that she is too blunt and doesn't know how to express her feeling, she is just blunt, and this moment just showed that yukari is very honest, blunt and strong willed, she was scared too btw she just made her think to herself she wasnt, great character btw like every others.
Yeah I know she’s joking. I was joking too when I said that she’s a hater 😭 I never legitimately thought that Yukari genuinely hates Junpei or anything like that
I love Yukari! She was probably the most relatable character for me personally, as I have a similar family experience/dynamic. I understood her banter with Junpei as affection, agreed with her reasons to have doubts about how/why SEES was operating and respected her steadfast focus on seeing their mission through. She was also the first to express concern about how Makoto was being spied on by SEES and oblivious to their motives. She knew who she was, what she stood for and wasn’t to be messed with. A queen. ✨ I can understand why people would be annoyed with her decision/feelings in Episode Aigis but tbh I just felt that it made her character all the more realistic. She was devastated and clearly no one was catching on. I can’t blame her for behaving the way she did. Hats off to the writers for writing a well balanced character. At least in my book! Haters gonna hate.
I think you are missing the point. When the game came out and around FES, you had fans that really didn't like her. Her attacks DID often miss, her mag/atk was around average to less than average and if you experiment with the arcana, you can very easily screw yourself over with a mostly less than average and borderline weak Yukari, who's only role is healing. Her selfish motive looked worse when it was put aside Misaru. Even though they want the same thing Misaru's goal was way above Yukari. If it wasn't for the anime, she would have probably been wholehearted hated across the board. But Reloaded happen. Reloaded fixed all her battle problems. With all the problems fix, Yukari as a character shown more. This is where Twitter ban wagons spotted her. Yukari "hate" now isn't like it was 18y ago. The "hate" she gets now is from an impressionist spot. The accusers (most of which are just posers) are super imposing themselves onto Yukari. Placing Yukari as a shield for their questionable actions and takes. I would say she isn't even hated anymore thanks to Reload and Persona Q. Truthfully the "weirdness" you see from her reputation is due to posers that most likely never finished the game, nor even played the series, saw a popular character and bandwagon onto the first moron that said something. She isn't the only one to suffer from this. This was done with a multitude of others [My hero academia, little witch academia, Goblin Slayer, Demon Slayer, Dragon Ball series, Sailor Moon, now Ranma etc.]. My advice is don't go to twitter. They are locust. The true opinion is from the fans, that can be found on fan sites, message boards, or polls.
I didn't know how she is before playing any Persona game, but the moment I saw her (design wise) the first time I said: "She's... Perfect.* Then after I saw how she is (counting the twisted memes) I said: "She's my other half." I'm somewhat of an apathetic antisocial psychopath, emphasis on the last word as Yukari "apparently" was somewhat of it in og Persona 3. (Although it's probably just another shitty joke.)
Yukari character was my favourite character from P3R, and I romanced her as soon as I could. It genuinely surprised me when I saw people hating on her.
I haven't play P3Reloaded so everything I'm about to say is based off the original and FES. Yukari isn't the only person the story set up to be disliked, very few people liked Junpei during his jealousy phase of the story. Despite this nearly everyone comes around to at least understanding Junpei if not outright liking him. Yukari in the Answer is different, not because she holds a different view from the rest of the SEES members. IMO the reason for the Yukari hate during the Answer is because she acts like she's the only person who is suffering, or more precisely is the only one allowed to suffer from the MC's death. Regardless of whether she was genuinely the closest to the MC or not when he died, it clearly has an affect on everyone he was close to, especially the other SEES members. She see's the member who want to move forward as a sort of betrayal to him, which can make sense from a teenage girls perspective but she still takes it way too far with her 'none of you are hurting like I am' perspective. It's beyond dismissive and downright egotistical of her, which is ironically what she accuses the others of doing. It's not a crime to be flawed, some of the best Persona characters are flawed characters, it could almost be considered the point. Yukari's problem is that despite what everyone's been through together, she ignores everyone else's grief and pain to play up her own.
I think that's why I liked Yukari's character because when dealing with a massive loss like that, obviously she's going to be more selfish, she's going to be thinking that no one is sharing her pain, she's going to think like she's the only that cared about him. It's a realistic viewpoint because losing someone or something very important to you can mess you up in a lot of ways as I also relate to her a lot. I was also thinking and feeling like that because it's a very hard phase to go through. I don't fault her to be very selfish in that moment, it's a very human thing to do.
I think shes a good character because she can generate these debates simply because she shows normal, flawed, human behaviors. Some people will like her, some will despise her depending on their personal experiences. For example, I think Yukari is absolutely unbearable, she snaps at everything, is demeaning, she reacts before thinking, yes she does attack Junpei a lot, but Junpei is also a jealous, pompous, sometimes double faced jackass. They contrast really well with the stand up characters of the cast but that have other issues. At the end of the day, they are all in the process of becoming better versions of themselves and thats what matters, I only wish they could actually show their personal progress and I think P4 did this much better.
@@Hemestal That’s good to hear. I understand that she can be demeaning and is prone to snap at everything, but I think that’s a reason why, for me personally, she’s a realistic character because a lot of teenage girls in real life do those things and are prone to do those things too 😭 Growing up throughout high school made me realized how insufferable girls can be in high school and since Yukari acted like them, for some reason it just adds a layer of relatability for me towards Yukari.
2:04 nah Mimi is literally just a copy of yukari idk why this triggers me even as a DANDANDAN fan it’s the other way around Yukari was before Momo If Anything Momo Literally stole Yukari whole flow lol
Hot take: a huge part of her controversial status comes from misogyny. Complex, human, well-written female characters get a lot of shit compared to their male counterparts The worst example in recent years is the discourse around Fire Emblem Three Houses (Fire Emblem fans don't deserve complex characters. Well, neither do Persona's). There's also Skyler in Breaking Bad being hated when she is one of the only real person in the show
Are her controversies driven from misogyny? I don't really think so because it's understandable that people might find her annoying due to her personality and The Answer, and if those things were to be put in a male character per se, they would probably have the same reactions. Yes, obviously there are misogynists out there that finally can make their point when Yukari acted unlikable, but I don't think that's a really huge part of it.
@nerogoro Well I've seen many instances where flawed male characters got people's sympathy and understanding in moments of doubts and tensions compared to their female counterparts, or female characters getting hated for things that aren't a big deal at all For example the "Junpei Ace Defective" scene I mean c'mon even the best siblings/friends/coworkers banter like this all the time
@@nerogoro Indeed. And the Yukari defenders who call those who don't like her "virgin incels who can't get laid" are misandrists. Because it has nothing to do with attracting women. It's more how she comes across that rubs plenty of fans the wrong way. Honestly, the Yukari defenders who make these arguments are just as bad as those "Virgin neckbearded incels" they claim to hate.
i played through portable as Kotone and well lets just say Junpei was first a normal guy i didn't think much of him but when he joins the sees group he is a bit of a jackass for a few months it had gotten to the point where Mitsuru had to step in so things didn't escalate further mainly because Junpei assumed the 'Man' aka himself should be the leader instead of a girl he does get better later on but when thats the first impression you get i was fully behind Yukari and her banter
Yeah when Junpei was being jealous about being the “main man” in the team he was a bit insufferable and his treatment towards the MC is uncalled for. That’s why I said that he does deserve some of the “hate” he gets from Yukari
@@nerogoro im stil pretty new to persona only having played 3 games persona 5 royal persona 5 strikers and now persona 3 portable ^^' even though i played through royal 3 times XD
You can't take what people say on twitter or reddit seriously - there's a lot of people with genuine mental illness, or people that are just young and want to be edgy on the internet. Yukari is a good character and like you concluded, I don't think she hates Junpei, I actually think they get along and understand each other pretty well. Yukari is like the number 2 popular girl in the school next to Mitsuru, so for Yukari to even talk to Junpei basically proves she doesn't hate him, as when you're popular talking to a loser can be seen as a detriment to your social credit. Yukari thinks Junpei is a slacker on his studies, so she insults him for it, but she knows the other students like Junpei because he's a nice guy, so she doesn't treat him like a loser and IGNORE him. I would think Yukari insults Junpei to keep their friendship from advancing into something more because what do you think would happen if she complimented him instead? Junpei would for sure catch feelings. Junpei always calls her "Yuka-tan" which is his friendly way of flirting with the second most sought after girl in the school. He acts cute with her. I would argue their dynamic is much deeper then the dialogue options you make the MC say, and they're a much better match the MC+Yukari, but the game is pandering to an immature "I won all the girls" kind of fantasy. I especially always saw it as a next level of home wrecker when cucking Akihiko by dating MItsuru :')
I don't think you can actually "cuck" Akihiko since he and Mitsuru aren't dating. Even if you don't date Mitsuru and ask her if she and Akihiko are dating, she says that Akihiko is just a friend and Akihiko says the same thing in the dancing game. In the P4A where they're both adults they're still close friends but not romantically involved. I think their relationship is somewhat similar to Yukari and Junpei's, just with less banter.
I think you are overthinking it. Yukari was written to have low self esteem. Yes, she does have looks, but she is constantly battling with feeling low self worth and learned helplessness. Junpei tries to be friendly but he steps on her toes constantly by using baby talk like calling her Yukari-Tan. For someone with such deep rooted issues, being talked at like that can feel demeaning and reductive and of course, that person will snap at you, be passive aggresive or even lash out if they don't talk it over.
Minato Arisato is just more catchy. Besides we already have a Makoto in p5 (boo don't like her) so it makes persona discussion confusing when you bring up either one without mentioning the game.
I was not a fan at all of Yukari back when i played p3 portable and even though i like her a bit more in reload (mostly because of the redesign, she is cuter now) she is still not my cup of tea... but saying she is a racist its a very unfair stretch
i did not even know any of this , And i'm kinda like wut X"D I never really played the og P3 tried to and failed but i find this kinda funny especially how time goes on , Especially the banter between Yukari and Junpei , it reminded me of when i was still a teen , Friends would insult you not because they hate you or anything but as friendly banter , But then there is Junpei actively being a dumbass from time to time. I didnt realize we were going into the dlc and hadn't touched that yet but thats fine, The awnser seems really confusing to me cause why would people hate on her for that. there is so much media out there where a character would want to go back to save a loved one. Heck Yukari is fucking based for it. There are so many people who would choose a path like that. I Like character progression and stories like that. The biggest thing i think i learned was that certain things have aged badly over time. characters and other things don't fly now a days anymore for multiple reasons. i learn this alot while just going through older media in general. that being said . Yukari was my waifu pick aswell ! I related to her struggles , I related to her fears her growth and everything. Great video , got informed about things i didnt know hahaha.
Yeah, I think according to people The Answer in the original Persona 3, Yukari was way more "worse" than how she acted in Persona 3 Reload. Even then, it's understandable on how she acted no matter on what scale.
Although she was written well in Episode Aigis, the things she said to Aigis went a bit too far. It's no surprise that Aigis is the second most popular character in the series only beaten by Joker, and everyone knows that attack is our favorite toaster Enemy #1, what makes this even worse is that it happens in a game called episode AIGIS so your eyes and ears are 100% focused on Aigis's story. Side note: I would love to have more spin-offs or expansions that are about specific characters, I happen to be playing Persona 4 dancing and I like that we learn more about rise
I think people cared less about Aigis for that to be the case than caring more about the fact that they had to sit there in The Answer suffering through grueling grinding just to get rewarded with Yukari sass. Still a pretty dumb reason to hate her but I get it.
@@Shadow-Joop-157 Yeah, I do agree that how she treated Aigis was uncalled for. But for me personally, it was quite realistic because I did go through of losing someone special and for a while I started treating friends and family like how Yukari treated Aigis. That’s why I said that Yukari is the most realistic because I can relate to her a lot in a personal level.
I think the title of the video fits nanto or kanji more since weirdos on Twitter swear up and down those two are gay and trans when they clearly aren't nor does the story imply that to be the case its just head canon
Yeah, a lot of people nowadays especially on Twitter they have 0 media literacy at all 😭🙏 But I think in most like UA-cam, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter a lot of people are like making out characters like Joker and Akechi gay for each other, Naoto being like trans/androgynous, Kanji and Yosuke being gay, Yukari and Mitsuru to be lesbians which is really weird because they are not those things at all. People somehow and someway failed to see like the actual development these characters go through and their true nature as well. Probably because they’re projecting themselves into these characters and are pushing their headcanons and delusions way too far.
@nerogoro exactly i mean head cannon is fine and all but if you're going to be a insufferable twat about it keep that shit to yourself it's people like that makes a remake of persona 4 worrying for me
@@SolidSnake240 She IS like a typical HS girl 😭😭 I mean her being “controversial” is debatable and that’s why I made this video for discussions and such.
Yukari in reload is not the same beast as Yukari in the original P3. Especially in the answer. I understood everything about her, but I just found her very annoying. In reload she's been watered down and... honestly lost her charm in a lot of places cuz of it. Either way, I'm still on team Aegis. Best girl fr
Yukari did in fact say something very homophobic in the original P3 (it was a different time back then, & was probably a choice made by the translators) but it has been fixed and yet that one decision continues to haunt this character even after it was corrected (the internet never forgets… for better or in this case, for worse).
@@DynamiteRyper I've played all 3 reload, fes and portable all in japanese version. I don't recall she ever said something even remotely offensive, it might be a translation issue.
@@HoodedAlchemy I became a Persona fan just about this year so I’m very late too 😭🙏 Yeah I didn’t get the ‘hate’ that she got but people were mentioning that when Episode Aigis was coming out that a lot of people might hate Yukari for it
@nerogoro i feel like her feeling some type of way about Algis makes sense if you picked Yukari as a romance option because she's lost two men in world she loved
Yukari Needlessly mean to Junpi Of course from P34 and 5 all of the persona girls are needlessly mean to someone in the male party. Original persona 3. Her accuracy with the bow is really bad and Persona 3 answers the game about grief she comes across as kind of bitchy. Persona 3 during one of her social links she gets jumped by three guys in an alleyway and implies that they attempted to sexually assault her. If you try to hug her it actually reverses your social link. Honestly speaking I think that’s pretty cool that is may be a little too real. Why is Persona 3reload such a goddamn babies game? Not only difficulty but art style and small changes here and there. Reload is just soft Reload made Yukari more likable and downright the best party member in the game. The hatred comes more from the episode Aigis. And I did not play that. If I had to guess she’s no longer a bitch she’s just empathetic. One of the problems with episode Aigis. Because of the link episodes they’re no longer in a real hurry to escape the time loop and Reload version of SEED they’re friendlier. PS2 P3 your party is not really your friends there just as much coworkers of anything. Of course now I’m rambling about episode Aigis And I never played
I think maybe P3 Reload was a remake to cater to a more and general large audience? Probably why they tweaked a lot of the characters to be more “likable”. I mean I like it when the SEES team are more friendlier and a lot more like a family together, it’s better to sit through 100 hours of the game with people genuinely making good connections with each other. Just imo though.
I called reload kind of a babies game because they remove the sexual assault attempt. I think in reload now it’s just some guy accusing her of stealing his wallet. I still think the PlayStation 2 persona game is still bolder and braver. But if I really think about it if it’s no longer possible for social links to invert There’s not a real reason to keep that scene Honestly I can’t hate on the decision to remove the inverted social links. You lose so many random days on random events. Unless you know a very strict and specific route of doing it it is almost not possible to complete every social link in a single play through. With Yukari the social link invert because you gave her a hug If you’re thinking about it that makes sense but most people are just picking choices they think would give a best result which is often times the most friendly. It’s just that this time it’s the worst decision. Also in persona reload it’s no longer possible to be caught cheating. If social links don’t invert there’s no punishment for cheating
Zzz 😴 Now in Reload Answer nobody cares. They BUTCHERED IT! Reload is finally over… and in classic modern age fashion they turned the game with the topic of “death” into a game “afraid of death”
I...dont get it, how was it butchered? Like, the game was always about death and (at times) being afraid of death, even before reload- unless I'm misunderstanding your comment
What is it about the Yukari debate that brings out the worst in the Persona community? When I played Reload, I thought she was alright despite being a bit boring.
My exposure to Yukari is only in Reload. I played Persona 3 maybe since like a decade ago and I was still a child and didn’t understand anything about the game 😭 But is it true that they toned her down in Reload?
Considering youske and morgana are also some of the most if not the most controversial characters in their games I guess the wind user is cursed. I wish ya luck P6 🫡
Im sorry what? 12:08 how does one assume this when people or others are lost on an almost daily basis only underage children have no inception of loss that is wholly incorrect. As for yukari herself i don't know where the while gyaru thing came from. But nine of ten anime have the gyaru be the living embodiment of i try to actively look like a slut. Even in a school setting shes only wearing a sweater over it . Story wise her character has always been way too flawed because the game itself says she has friends and id very popular but who the fuck do you see her hang out with? Nobody , the hate on junpei is undeserved and as for getting over loss let me remind people she never got over her dad 's death for 10 years and only knew makoto for less than 1 realistically you are not that attached to someone. (Thats like saying i knew this one guy at school we hung out but then i never saw them again) you liked the person but its not that deep. As for reload making yukari lovers hate her that was just delicious irony as we see her actually think about her actions more than act on impulse the real problem here is that when it comes to chracters in certain media people self insert too much thats why it hurts them to hear an objectively different opinion than thiers because others know how to disassociate with a fictional character.
@@Animewatcher352 Before you criticize people for their attention span you coulda at least put some effort in structuring your paragraphs, you MAKE it hard to read. Other than that a lot of your criticism lacks nuanced knowledge on the character and a lot of spewing emotional drivel that is reductive of her actual character. Whatever "hate" she produced is exaggerated by the community. Her getting over her grief via Makoto is realistic because of love and relatability being able to override that pain. That's why when The Answer rolls around she's broken beyond repair for a while because she lost even THAT peace of mind. When I see people hate on Yukari I assume they had really easy lives and had no struggles cause that's how most of the people I've interacted with talk. Like the definition of Ameno Sagiri's sayings from P4, very nonsensical from inexperience and biased. Right off the bat Yukari is pretty realistic personally considering I've lived with a person just like her from birth. Everyone has their flaws and their coping mechanisms but that's what makes Yukari a great character. If every character in Anime had to be perfect, couldn't have glaring flaws, catering to people 24/7 I would get extremely bored of that really quickly and part of that is what ticks me off about how Alus changed Reload Yukari. Catering to people who were biased and unemotional who didn't even bother to put any effort forth to understand her or how complex people can be in the first place. A severe lack of critical thinking before Reload.

Her being a teen isn't an excuse for making an already dangerous situation even worth with her ego and bad mouth, which would've gotten her and MC hurt and already got Junpei hurt before Shinji stepped in.

Akechi is funny because him being controversial seems to be mainly pockets of the western fandom. The east loves him.

I swear, if Yukari and Junpei were genderswapped istg people would cancel her IMMEDIATELY. I think she's well written as a character, but she didn't have to be so F mean. Gosh. Obnoxious.
Typical HS girls do be like that sometimes
I had to live through my dad slowly dying pancreatic cancer.

Yukari is one of the best written characters in the series
I never thought of any of those things about Yukari that the thumbnail seems to be suggesting.
A queen. ✨
I can understand why people would be annoyed with her decision/feelings in Episode Aigis but tbh I just felt that it made her character all the more realistic. She was devastated and clearly no one was catching on. I can’t blame her for behaving the way she did. Hats off to the writers for writing a well balanced character. At least in my book! Haters gonna hate.
Btw I love the fact you properly pronounce Yukari's full name

Enjoy Persona 3!
5:32 I was expecting something else
Lmao same😭 I saw her for the first time in Reload in the Iwatodai dorm was like, “Yeah, this is #1 romance option”
I will stand by Yukari forever till the day I die
Yukari character was my favourite character from P3R, and I romanced her as soon as I could. It genuinely surprised me when I saw people hating on her.
Well people in the internet do be like that…
Lol same I don't understand what is even there people hate about her, infact Junpei was the one who was being annoying or creepy most of the time.
Really well made video and awesome channel!

Controversial? I think you mean based. Yukari my beloved you'll always be my favorite no matter what
Hot take: a huge part of her controversial status comes from misogyny. Complex, human, well-written female characters get a lot of shit compared to their male counterparts
The worst example in recent years is the discourse around Fire Emblem Three Houses (Fire Emblem fans don't deserve complex characters.
@nerogoro Well I've seen many instances where flawed male characters got people's sympathy and understanding in moments of doubts and tensions compared to their female counterparts, or female characters getting hated for things that aren't a big deal at all

@@nerogoro Indeed. And the Yukari defenders who call those who don't like her "virgin incels who can't get laid" are misandrists. Because it has nothing to do with attracting women.
I mean yeah I shouldn’t really take what people say on twitter and reddit seriously but it’s just funny sometimes seeing it 😭
I don't think you can actually "cuck" Akihiko since he and Mitsuru aren't dating.

Yukari is rly well written. I didn't like her at first but as the game went on, she got more character development and grew on me
i did not even know any of this , And i'm kinda like wut X"D I never really played the og P3 tried to and failed but i find this kinda funny especially how time goes on , Especially the banter between Yukari and Junpei , it reminded me of when i was still a teen , Friends would insult you not because they hate you or anything but as friendly banter , But then there is Junpei actively being a dumbass from time to time.
Even then, it's understandable on how she acted no matter on what scale.
i thought hitler would of been the most controversial in the persona series
I havent even watched the video and idk what the conclusion is I love yukari shes my goat
The conclusion is she’s THE GOAT 🥰
I want the 19 mins and 38 secs that I spent on watching this video back
@@tur-tl-es Damn 😔
@nerogoro That's true, like I said yukari is written well in Episode Aigis, but it's just that a lot of people personally just didn't like that part
@nerogoro exactly i mean head cannon is fine and all but if you're going to be a insufferable twat about it keep that shit to yourself it's people like that makes a remake of persona 4 worrying for me
Wasn't aware that she was "controversial" lol. She just seemed like a typical hs girl to me.
@@SolidSnake240 She IS like a typical HS girl 😭😭 I mean her being “controversial” is debatable and that’s why I made this video for discussions and such.
Based Morgana profile pic.
Controversial? Man the only thing she did was Call Junpei a Stupid {¥#’djskfendj Sucker
Yukari did in fact say something very homophobic in the original P3 (it was a different time back then, & was probably a choice made by the translators) but it has been fixed and yet that one decision continues to haunt this character even after it was corrected (the internet never forgets… for better or in this case, for worse).
Can't believe people would be so butthurt about that
@@DynamiteRyper WHAT DID SHE SAY
@@DynamiteRyper I legit don't even remember what she said.
@ I’m fairly certain it’s the F slur (like actually)
@@DynamiteRyper I've played all 3 reload, fes and portable all in japanese version. I don't recall she ever said something even remotely offensive, it might be a translation issue.

Yuka-Tan my beloved 🤩😍
I love Yukari i just became a Persona fan in 2020 so i don't get the hate she got
@@HoodedAlchemy I became a Persona fan just about this year so I’m very late too 😭🙏 Yeah I didn’t get the ‘hate’ that she got but people were mentioning that when Episode Aigis was coming out that a lot of people might hate Yukari for it
@nerogoro i feel like her feeling some type of way about Algis makes sense if you picked Yukari as a romance option because she's lost two men in world she loved
she is the realest character in the series. snowflakes hate her
Real
Leave her alone man 😭🙏
@@RileyTheGhost I ain’t even hating on her bruh 😭🙏
Reload is just soft
Reload made Yukari more likable and downright the best party member in the game.
But if I really think about it if it’s no longer possible for social links to invert There’s not a real reason to keep that scene
Honestly I can’t hate on the decision to remove the inverted social links.
She's a early Yosuke basically, just she's worst.
Yukari my beloved
That's why she's my favorite character
My favorite p3 side character fr fr
Yep, another Yukari bag.
Zzz 😴
Now in Reload Answer nobody cares.
Me too, I don’t get how was it butchered 😭
What is it about the Yukari debate that brings out the worst in the Persona community? When I played Reload, I thought she was alright despite being a bit boring.
@@zacharylandrum4789 Og Yukari and Reload Yukari are two different beasts. Them toning her down in Reload probably made her boring to you lol.
My exposure to Yukari is only in Reload. I played Persona 3 maybe since like a decade ago and I was still a child and didn’t understand anything about the game 😭 But is it true that they toned her down in Reload?
Wait…She forgot to apologize?🤨
she did nothing wrong yes she's flawed bu without her.. the game would be boring... i didn't play this game but i watched my brother play it
That's why she is the best.
Seems based, so I automatically like what I'm seeing
I didn’t like her because the game felt like it wanted me to romance her but I picked fuuka
not my video being here bye
hi oomf
@ no way
the more reasons to love here
Yukari sounds based to me
What? Yukari controversial? I thought aigis was the controversial one.
Nah bro we all love the toaster
Considering youske and morgana are also some of the most if not the most controversial characters in their games I guess the wind user is cursed. I wish ya luck P6 🫡
Homophobic ????
@@Animewatcher352 nobody’s reading allat😭😭😭
@wondergirlllisa then why did you even attempt if your attention span is that of a tiktok video?
@@Animewatcher352 the i saw second you imply that a 17 year old girl was a slut, i knew that this rant wouldn’t be worth my time, and i was right. this whole thing is just you hating on her for the crime of being both a girl and a flawed character at the same time.
