    Epic noise, full HSE guidelines and even bird watching. Keep up the good work guys! If your worries out it holding boost, you could use torque Pro to map boost against rpm and it'll show if its holding the pressure over a decent sized graph.

      I'll need to figure out how to get the logs off the device. There's a menu I've setup in the car but I've never been able to log into the torque website to view my logs

    • @Boofedit
      @Boofedit 4 роки тому +6

      Hygerus your wrong. If your running a massive cunt of a turbo, or running above 17 psi then you’ll shave years off its life, sure. But running a blanking plate isn’t going to kill or really cause that much damage.
      Over the course of years, your bearing will begin to wear from inconsistent flow vibrations but even then your not going to notice a whole lot.
      Now say 10 years down the line, the car has survived by some phenomena and you still own the car. Now the turbo may be slightly chokey, but even so... it will most likely still drive fine.

    It's a good noise(tutt tutt tutt) i love it myself, but you have actually made your car slower. I did 4 dyno runs in mine 1 with hks blow off, 1 with cheapo fleabay, 1 with baileys, and 1 without(blanked off). The hks made the car come on boost alot quicker and for longer than the other 2 bov's (HEAVIER SPRING) and the car without was about 20-30hp slower over all and lost all its mid range power. Resulting in a longer 0-60 and 1/4 mile time. Which you dont want being on track! Also the billet compressor wheel will not make any difference in saftey as the bearings on the impeller shafts are usually first to give up due to compressor surge. ( tutt tutt tutt) the billet wheels spool up faster don't get me wrong and make more power but that's adding extra stress on the wheel/bearings when the surge has no where to vent and comes straight back at the fins/blades making them spin backwards. It's only as strong as it's weakest link. And billet wheels are not cheap my friend. Just my 2p worth sorry for being a boring bastard but it's true, and yea they were some seriously fat pigeons! !!

    • @vPerformance
      @vPerformance  6 років тому +2

      Well the good news is that the dyno last week showed no signs of compressor surge and the boost is running exactly the same with no leaks. I once had a leaky dump valve which cut power like you said because it wouldn't hold shut. I think you're right about the bearings though. Time will tell if it survives!

      How does blow off valve or no blow off valve make any difference on throttle when a blow off valve would be closed?

    • @predragbalorda
      @predragbalorda 11 місяців тому

      @@DriftNickwhen the throttle body closes off (when you let go of the gas pedal to shift up) is when the bov is supposed to open to release unwanted pressure on the intake and to slow down the turbo, to get "ready" for next gear's lower rpms. No bov - pressure has nowhere to go but into turbo (and intercooler and piping). No good.

    Sounds great! I tend to think turbos fail because of oil related problems (insufficient oil or mid to high boost when the oil is "cold"), not from running without a BPV or BOV.

    • @vPerformance
      @vPerformance  6 років тому +2

      Especially with the quality of new turbos. As long as the bearings survive another year I'll be happy. We're a little worried about oil pickup when we're on the track so will have to do a baffle plate mod at some point.

      if you are running a factory turbo intake and filter you wont hear much. also a important note is too put the gasket between the intercooler and block off plate, instead between the bov and block off plate otherwise will leak pressure and further reduce noise.

  • @SoldatnaMan
    @SoldatnaMan Рік тому

    It’s not the turbo that will fail, the harm is boost past the throttle body before it closely fully. When a turbos spinning at 150k rpm’s, back pressure will only slow it down. Extra boost always on the throttle body and going into the cylinders while closing is harmful over time

    • @DriftNick
      @DriftNick 11 місяців тому

      Everything you just said is wrong, with or without a blow off valve some air will still get pass the throttle before it closes, there is no extra air from not running a valve going into the cylinders that that will cause anything harmful, also it does not slow the turbo down, people have tested it, after lifting off the throttle the rate at which the turbo slows down is no different between running a valve and not running one.
