I agree but I don’t think they meant making the drink unsuitable and extremely heavy of liquor... I work at a bar and an example would be if somebody orders 25ml of spirit in their drink, instead giving them 50ml which isn’t much of a significant difference. In the UK, we can’t give anymore than 50ml of spirit per drink anyway. I’m sure there are similar regulations in the US?

I usually dont drink because of health issues. So, I'm usually the DD. I inform the bartender I'm the DD and usually get a free non alcoholic drink. Then I tip them extremely well for putting up with the people I'm with. Lol

I have to sell alcohol at my job and there are some very, VERY convincing fake IDs. If he really doesn't think someone is 21 should he be upfront and simply refuse to serve them alcohol? Perhaps. But keep in mind that he specified that he does private bartending for wealthy people. It's likely that it's open bar and it's also likely that he doesn't want to risk insulting any of his employer's guests by refusing to serve them. Thus the non-alcoholic drinks, which are probably free to the people drinking them.

Also alot of private events still charge you at the bar for drinks the "private" part is just the fact that only some people are allowed in. That dude is exactly why I have trust issues with bartenders. I'm less hesitant now but especially when I had just turned 21, I looked like I wasn't and being new to drinking I didn't know much about the subject and world so I always felt like they would give me non-alcoholic drinks without telling me, even if they saw my ID. I still feel like it happens now, but less so.

I thought the same exact thing of myself. I'm still kind of not the biggest fan of humanity 😄 but I currently work at a restaurant that sells Neapolitan pizza and Gelato and I like it 99% of the time. I think it depends on where you work and what your selling. Our prices are definitely on the high side. If you make it a point to come to the restaurant, you're not likely in a bad mood. And the pizza and gelato...Hell even the panini's...are truly delicious.
Your coworkers make or break a service industry job. Not the patrons. If you are working with a fun group of people, you can handle an entire bar full of assholes and still have fun.
Hmm i recently went out with friends and i was the 1st to show up by myself. I never been to the place and didnt see anywhere to sit, so i walked up to the bar to get a drink but they said have a seat and someone will be over i ended up finding one and got a margarita. It was how i prefer mine more on the sour side so it was good, but when my friends got there one of them order the same and his was in a different glass and stronger 🤔🤔 makes me wonder lol We also got different tequila but the kinds we got i think are hard to miss

If I’m new in town, I usually come when the bartender is not that busy and spark a conversation, I’ll buy a drink for them depending on their professionalism and demeanor. When I come back to that bar, we already established a friendship, I’ll feel good by tipping, he/she will feel better because there not working for me. They’re chilling with me 1. Be generous 2. Tip/buy a drink 3. Enjoy the company

I have a secret I use that kind of puts the bartender in my pocket. When I order a drink I tip no less than $10 on the first round. With this method my drinks are always strong, I get free drinks, and I can even get them to hold my coat while I hit the dance floor. Lol this hasn't failed me yet.

In Australia, someone being on a licensed premises and a bartender serving them ‘fake’ alcohol is as incriminating as them serving real alcohol. If you don’t think they’re legal age, you outright refuse them service rather than just stealing their money. How would you like it if you went to a restaurant and instead of getting the main course you ordered, you get some cheaper, leftover appetisers instead. Wouldn’t be great would it?
Everybody that's mad at that guy doesn't understand that A. He's an experienced bartender and can probably tell the difference between a young looking adult and an underage person and B. The type of bartending he does the host picks up the bill, its not like each individual pays for their drinks so no one's losing money over that.
Honestly I don’t blame bartenders for making non alcoholic drinks for people who could be not of age to drink. There are a lot of ways to make a fake ID look real. The customer can call and complain all they want, but the bartender, if the person actually has a fake ID, can receive jail time, a hefty fine, and losing their job if caught giving a person under age, alcohol. If you are underage, you shouldn’t be drinking at a bar. They are just trying to do their job. And if you think this has happened to you, maybe next time bring your birth certificate instead of insulting bartenders for doing their jobs. Also, just want to say, it HAS happened to me on numerous occasions. Yet, I’m not going to insult somebody for doing their job.

My trick for when people ask for their drink to be stronger: add a drop of liquor in the straw. The first drink tastes strong and keeps the guest happy. But I’m not giving them enough to mess up inventory.

Omg I've had such uncomfortable moments with different bartenders that didn't believe I was of the legal drinking age where I gave them my ID, then my driver's license and my passport because they wouldn't give me alcohol because they thought I looked too young even though I saw them pouring shots for a group of 16 year olds just a few seconds ago. I guess they looked old enough to not ID them?

That dude is exactly why I have trust issues with bartenders. I'm less hesitant now but especially when I had just turned 21, I looked like I wasn't and being new to drinking I didn't know much about the subject and world so I always felt like they would give me non-alcoholic drinks without telling me, even if they saw my ID.
I still feel like it happens now, but less so.

This is the best representation of generations. The young girl does what she’s paid to do. If she doesn’t like making that cocktail “such is the life” where the old guy seems to think its his call what drink he makes based on if he can be bothered and who gets to drink despite then having an ID. I thought the same exact thing of myself. I'm still kind of not the biggest fan of humanity 😄 but I currently work at a restaurant that sells Neapolitan pizza and Gelato and I like it 99% of the time. I think it depends on where you work and what your selling. Our prices are definitely on the high side. If you make it a point to come to the restaurant, you're not likely in a bad mood. And the pizza and gelato...Hell even the panini's...are truly delicious.
Your coworkers make or break a service industry job. Not the patrons. If you are working with a fun group of people, you can handle an entire bar full of assholes and still have fun.

Hmm i recently went out with friends and i was the 1st to show up by myself. I never been to the place and didnt see anywhere to sit, so i walked up to the bar to get a drink but they said have a seat and someone will be over i ended up finding one and got a margarita. It was how i prefer mine more on the sour side so it was good, but when my friends got there one of them order the same and his was in a different glass and stronger 🤔🤔 makes me wonder lol
We also got different tequila but the kinds we got i think are hard to miss
Some people just don't look their age. If they provide ID showing that they are older than they look, they should be able to purchase the beverage.

Edit: Not for free stuff mind you, money isn't everything but I just want others to be happy, I give them tips and stuff but i just don't wanna make their life more complicated. We all go through stuff and have some kindness. It goes a long ways.

When I come back to that bar, we already established a friendship, I’ll feel good by tipping, he/she will feel better because there not working for me. They’re chilling with me

I have a secret I use that kind of puts the bartender in my pocket. When I order a drink I tip no less than $10 on the first round. With this method my drinks are always strong, I get free drinks, and I can even get them to hold my coat while I hit the dance floor. Lol this hasn't failed me yet.
Tye that’s the way to do it. I tended through college and a good number of patrons tip heavily up front to reserve elite service. Smart lady!

In Australia, someone being on a licensed premises and a bartender serving them ‘fake’ alcohol is as incriminating as them serving real alcohol. If you don’t think they’re legal age, you outright refuse them service rather than just stealing their money. How would you like it if you went to a restaurant and instead of getting the main course you ordered, you get some cheaper, leftover appetisers instead. Wouldn’t be great would it?

Everybody that's mad at that guy doesn't understand that A. He's an experienced bartender and can probably tell the difference between a young looking adult and an underage person and B. The type of bartending he does the host picks up the bill, its not like each individual pays for their drinks so no one's losing money over that.

Honestly I don’t blame bartenders for making non alcoholic drinks for people who could be not of age to drink. There are a lot of ways to make a fake ID look real. The customer can call and complain all they want, but the bartender, if the person actually has a fake ID, can receive jail time, a hefty fine, and losing their job if caught giving a person under age, alcohol. If you are underage, you shouldn’t be drinking at a bar. They are just trying to do their job. And if you think this has happened to you, maybe next time bring your birth certificate instead of insulting bartenders for doing their jobs. Also, just want to say, it HAS happened to me on numerous occasions. Yet, I’m not going to insult somebody for doing their job.

My trick for when people ask for their drink to be stronger: add a drop of liquor in the straw. The first drink tastes strong and keeps the guest happy. But I’m not giving them enough to mess up inventory.
