Actually guinea pigs are definitely not low maintenance, and the cages you have shown in this video are horribly tiny. Please provide more true and ethical information in the future.
Thanks for your comments. We appreciate your suggestion and will definitely try to provide more authentic information in future.
I think we have different ideas on what low maintenance is Guinea pigs i find to be really low maintenance It doesnt take more than 30 mins a day to keep clean healthy happy piggies 😊
@@lindasapiecha2515 I agree with you, but I'm just saying that the cages shown are incredibly tiny
Birds should never be alone that is the most absurd thing I heard
@@petopedia_ while some birds may be fine throughout the day with a buddy, since they are very social creatures- most by themselves will grow bored and restless. This is because of the fact that most pet birds, budgies, parrots, and canaries are all very intelligent and social with their same species. By forcing a bird to be by itself in likely a small setup your neglecting your bird and not being a responsible pet owner.
Fish are low maintenance but A LOT OF EDUCATION! You have to learn of the nitrate cycle and it takes up to a month to prepare the water in the tank before putting your fish in, depending on tank size (the smaller the tank the longer it takes). Learning chemical science to properly take care of my betta was medieval torture so please consider that before you get a fish.
sorry... but all cages and some aquariums shown are too small.... and rabits actually require a lot of attention, the main perk is that they're quiet and less clingy than dogs
the concept of the video os nice toh
Thanks for your appreciation and suggestion. We will keep this facts in mind and provide more authentic informations.
Rabbits are harder to look after than dogs I’ve had many and there not good for children and shouldn’t be keep outside
I have a Russian tortoise and he is the most low maintenance pet I have ever had .He exceeded my expectations He has much more personality than I expected and is more intelligent
@@ryankerr8766 That should be good right? Why do you want your pet to die fast?
@@kayj2093 gen z. we can’t pay attention to something for more than 3 minutes apparently
@@zikriflanery7030 I think the problem might be your pet outliving you. Definitely possible w a tortoise
canaries can be easily tamed, my canaries love to come out the cage for hours a day and they love human attention. They require just as much love and proper care like cockatiels and budgies.
If you are really busy and don’t have a lot of time for a pet, it’s probably best to not get one. No pets are low maintenance. If you want a pet, you need to be dedicated to getting the right size enclosures and practicing their correct care.

A HAMSTER IS NOT A TOY
The idea of advertising hamsters as “easy” and “great for children” is one of the biggest issues with small pet care in America. It creates the illusion that hamsters are easy to care for, and a “starter pet”. Which is false. Hamsters need more than just a cage, food, and a wheel. They need enrichment and a large cage, and not all hamster enjoy being held. Also the video you showed of a baby Syrian hamster on a tiny wheel is very concerning. This video is spreading negative misinformation and is sad.
The fact that this is a pet channel really makes me concerned for why this video is so inaccurate. By the way, while you were talking about hamsters, you showed a guinea pig. 😂
Thanks for your observation. We will bear your suggestion in mind. Stay tuned for more.
Some pets are happy to be in a cage but for some it is utter cruelty. Like birds are meant to fly, putting them in cage is worse than a human in a cage, we can't travel miles and miles.
I do have tiny fish and I made sure to get a big tank so they can swim a lot, I still feel guilty though. But they have a nice tank and food and living long.
Thanks for your observation. We will bear your suggestion in mind. Stay tuned for more.
I’m so indecisive on which pet to get for my family & I.
It depends on how much time and effort you can give to your pet and you also need to make sure that the pet suits your lifestyle.
Bit late but you should know what type of pet would be ideal for your situation but also preferences
Research whatever type of pet you're thinking about getting and make sure to learn from those who have experience with caring for them and will be able to give you the advice you need on how to properly take care of them
At the end of the day there is no such thing as a low maintenance pet they all require lots of time, effort and proper care
Hamster, guinea pig, only get small turtles not big ones but they are showing mostly tortoises and not turtles 😂, I’m not sure about birds so that’s up to you guys to decide, beta fish are pretty simple but most kids can’t clean them they need to be in a 5 gallon tank or bigger not a bowl I agree with her with the fish good info, love the video!
@@ssandhu0808Nope, do some research. A five gallon tank is the most ideal for a beta!
Thank you Youve helped me make up my mind im going for the Guinea pig 😊
It really is recommended to buy two together as they get very lonely and sad being alone!
They're group animals, so you'll need to get at least two, and they're actually not low maintenance. They need lots of space, certain nutrients every day, and there's a lot to pay attention to healthwise.
This video does not give enough info about guinea pigs at all. They need big cages. At LEAST 2 guinea pigs bought together. They do require some special foods.
I hope your guinea pig is getting all the requirements it needs, this video is horribly flawed
Giny pigs need a much digger that thoughs small little torcher box
Same as the hamster
There was only like 1 actual turtle in the b-roll, most of those were tortoises
I'm considering another reptile since they're my fav but these videos make me want a fur baby but unfortunately I can't 😭😭
Same, They're smelly and create more mess than reptiles.
I already got cats so I can't afford to get another mammal, but I want to have small furry pets
How long can hamsters stay in there cage because I want one but I will be at school and at my Mimi’s house after school so I would be not home from 7:00am -5:00pm
Hamsters are fine in their cage for up to 8-10 hours, but they need plenty of space, food, and water. Make sure to give them time out of the cage when you're home!
Hamsters should NEVER be put in a cage with another hamster, they would fight and kill each other even if they are siblings
Some of the info in this video is true! And that's nice to see as some videos are horribly wrong. However some of the photos used for cages are too small as well as the wheels shown for hamsters. Their backs shouldn't be bent. (This isn't supposed to be negative just critiques) (ex: 1:12 for the wheel and cage)
Turtles are absolutely not an easy pet for kids. You need to change the water they are in every two weeks and it needs to be at least a 40-80 gallon tank.
Corn Snakes, etc.
What an inaccurate video. All of these enclosures are too small. The hamsters wheel was so tiny it will hurt their back. Guinea pigs need Timothy hay, not straw. All pets need attention. Don't tell people they don't need any. If you don't have the time, don't get a pet.
I hope you get to reading this, I have a request, can you please make list of good burrowing animals to keep as pets?
Also hamsters aren’t exactly the best pets because they die easily
We appreciate your shared thought about hamsters, and we'll gladly create a list of great burrowing animals for potential pet owners.
LOW MAINTENANCE FOR A HAMSTER? PARDON ME??
Ik right like hamsters are if anything HIGH maintenance animals and definitely not good starter pets for children. This video is down right horrible.
If your gonna get a pet and barely enter act with them it is better not to get them at all
Yes, we appreciate your opinion. But sometimes we really love pet but our busy life hardly allows us to have any. In this case these pets are the blessing in disguise.
Turtles are most *definitely* not low maintenance. They're about as big and messy as goldfish, if not more so!
(For a low maintenance reptiles, snakes are a *much* better choice. They only need to be fed a few times a month and poop about as often)
At the very least you said betta fish instead of goldfish, which is very true and I don't know why more people don't get that. Anyone who knows anything about goldfish knows they are the exact opposite of low maintenance...
(I also like that you showed a short-finned betta, a much better choice than along-finned!)
Useful tips regarding feeding and finnage, BUT you should've mentioned that they need a proper tank at least 5-10 gallons in size, and not a small bowl or vase
Especially considering you *showed* them in bowls with no indication that doing so is wrong...
Totally agree on turtles, they can be quite a handful. 🐢 For low maintenance reptiles, snakes are a solid choice! Also, good call on emphasizing proper tank size for bettas - 5-10 gallons is key. 🌟
Hamsters are NOT a children's pet.
Thanks for your observation. We will bear your suggestion in mind. Stay tuned for more.
@petopedia_ Might as well just delete this video. It's not helping anyone. 🤷♀️
Cleaning aquarium? I never clean it. I just have inside some snails and shrimps and they do the job for me
Well some people don’t know how to have an aquarium. They probably have a 2 gallon with five bettas or keep goldfish in a 5 gallon. I have a nano shrimp tank with snails, I only have to top up the water every now and then.
This video was a lot of wrong info
1. Hamster need more than 40 gallons of space about 6 inches of bedding a large weal and lots of hides
2.Guinea pings need to be kept in peers and a large space preferably C&C cage
3.turtles are different from tortoises
4.fish are NOT for beginners they are hard to take care of they need at least 10 gallons of water PLS DO NOT use bowls pls
For canary’s I don’t think it’s such a big thing but could you at least do research before telling so many people all of this 😒
Canaries can't be easily tamed ? My Canaries literally fly and sit on top of my head like- I didn't even try
To train your canary, start by talking to it in a soothing voice for 10-15 minutes twice a day so it gets comfortable with your presence. Then, after a few days, try placing your hand in its cage while holding a treat. If your canary nips at your finger or seems stressed, leave the treat and try again the next day.
@@petopedia_ sorry for not answering earlier. I've tried this and it didn't really work the only thing I've been doing is just chill in my room and they eventually start coming closer and closer and one day they just sit on my head and start eating my hair. I agree that treats help a lot while taming but I disagree on putting your arm in their cage. The reason for that is that when you do that you make them feel like their cage is easy to access so I just leave a treat near my chair they start eating it and voualla they start eating my hair 😢. If I sounded(??) rude I'm sorry.
Your underrated🌼
But the rabbits cage is way to small and the metal is bad for their teeth as well and the require a lot of attention and space so please do proper research and I’m not saying this is a mean way tho
Well, they don't provide very ethical information, so I wouldn't say they're underrated... 😅
This is video is a nonsense. Informations in this video aren’t always true. Conditions in which hamsters were shown in this video? How can you say that guinea pig is low maintenance animal? You didn’t even bothered to mention one of the most important facts, which you need to knw, when you want to buy guinea pigs, that they can’t be kept on their own, they need to have another piggy friend. If you are thinking of getting a new pet, don’t watch this please.
@@klarajanku2615Probably not. 😂 They replied to almost every negative comment with that statement, lol
Really nice video, but you should know it’s pronounced “kan-EH-ree” not “KAN-ah-ree.”
Thanks for pointing it out! We appreciate your effort, and will be more careful next!
none of these pet are low maintenance and birds are very social creatures so saying not take them out of the cage is gruel of course always have a cage but you have to take them out sometime and have to tame them then they'll become your best friend and the turtles the 10 showing we're tortoises they're very high Maiden knowing properly ubb filtration tank size nitrogen cycle also hamsters are very high maintenance till same with guinea pigs so to say also bettas they might be a little bit more hearty fast but they still need a lot of care in from the research you have done your stuff is false so plause povid porper informas for poople also please don't say it that they guinea pigs can live in cages they need a lot of space so there need a playpen not a cage also hamsters need a lot space baby next time just a suggestion instead of saying it's low-maintenance pets pets for full-time day jobs because a lot of these animals are basically nocturnal except the canary yet in what you call a turtle it's actually a tortoise
I have a good recommendation, garden snails, trust me they can make great pets
You mean tortoise and they can live over 80 years sometimes and no store bought food
Hamsters will pee alot in their bedding a d you will ga e to replace it like every 2 weeks.
Actually that’s not entirely true. While yes hamsters do pee in their bedding you should only clean out their enclosure once a month, and you should only do a half a clean. So that half of the still clean bedding stays and keeps some of the hamsters scent in the enclosure. You also should spot clean weekly. If you feel the need to clean more than this, then your cage is probably not large enough. The BARE MINIMUM in the US today is 450sq inches. But larger is much better (600sq inches +)
Don't replace your hamster's bedding that often! You can take out bits of soiled bedding, but definitely not all of it.
Why do people watch these videos if they’re e just gonna post some dumb complaint in the comment section… 🙄 look we get it, pets need the best care we can give them but there’s definitely some that are easier to care for than others
@Petopedia Just copy pasting the same comment underneath every critique isn't going to make you seem more human. Do the research before posting a video about it and correct yourself AT LEAST in the video description.
1) Hamsters are well.. boring pets. Needs a lot of space. Doesn't really enjoy handling and are very fragile.
2) Guinea pigs are extremely social creatues and use up a lot of space
3) Tortoises & Turtles... Your information is frankly just incorrect. 30 years? Tortoises regularly outlive their owners and have needs for UV lights and baskin spots
4) Birds should never be alone. Extremely social creatues.
5) Fish and aquariums are only low tech/maintience if you KNOW what you're doing. Betta fish are some of the most abused fish because of this misinformation. Bettas are not more low maintenance than any other fish.
Tortoises in your "turtle" segment isn't a good look for your pet knowledge is it really
This video has so much wrong information that I didn't even watch until the end! They are not TURTLES! They're TORTOISES!!
*tortoise*
You clearly don't know a lot about animals. Please stop.
This video is promoting animal abuse with the small cages
Thanks for sharing your opinion. But, we have shown small cages only for small pets!
@@petopedia_GIRL... just because animals are small doesn't mean they should live in tiny cages. 😭
This is very false!
You can never give a pet the minimum attention they need, this whole channel is just promoting and normalizing animal abuse, please do your research when getting a pet, please stop making these types of videos.

Fish need a ton of space, it should be animal cruelty to have them in small fishbowls, its simply and plainly wrong to have a fish in a less than huge aquarium
You are right it's like the equivalent of a person being forced to live in a small closet with no ventilation because they need filtration and oxygen going into the water
Fr
especially goldfish
They should have at least 5 gallons to 10 gallons
Yes finally someone else finally knows 😂
