I don’t live anywhere near there, but I had to look and see if that old fire house escaped the wrecking ball…..and IT DID!!! It is now a fire museum!!! I love it when old fire houses, especially those from the 1800’s and early 1900’s don’t get torn down, and get repurposed, especially something fire related. Our old main fire station is now a pizza restaurant and a bed & breakfast……with a fire theme.
There's several historic firehouses now sitting abandoned in Baltimore. Most of them have been turned into other things like the African American wax museum, the Marine recruitment office at Engine 17 and my favorite is the restaurant and brewery in old Engine 16 house. The firehouse used in Ladder 49 has been abandoned for 20+ years and now it's being renovated again. Hopefully Engine 33 gets placed back in their original house.
I a volunteer fire for over 10 years and I love it. I'm only one that live next door to the fire department. I tack 5 Steps and i'm there Station 9 colon michigan 49040
I joined in 1965….riding the tail board was common…….once rode the side step on our ladder truck to mutual aid, about 10 miles away…….in February! Fun times, LOL!
I wish I could have experienced those days! My dad always talked about it, even before they had air packs- they put their face to the nozzle and went after it.
I joined in 1970. A small rural town FD. A few years later, I joined a little larger department and rode the running board and also climbed up on the hose bed to get my gear on while the truck was heading to the fire.
In an age when few men step forward to accept responsibility, he says. Fast forward 50 plus years to today. I counted about 13 showing up, can they still do that level of manpower today?
17:39 “put an asbestos blanket over your victim” They might be candidates for mesothelioma in 10 years, but at least they won’t get glass & sparks all over them as we cut the roof off the car. 😂😂

I was a Rookie Volunteer Firefighter with a Fire Department near (meaning 1/2 mile) from where I used to live.
Then what happened?
@@Wa3ypx I didn't get enough votes of support to keep me on the fire department as a firefighter.
@@razrramonel4077 Really? You had to be voted in each year??

When people actually run to their cars..
Too bad these are the guys that don’t want change in my fire department
They're changing, they're changing into room temperature.
Its arrogance on both generational ends.
