Thievable That's a small part of it. Honestly though, compared to the last two games this one was just awful. I have a review-turned-rant that covers this game at the end.
The Potter games in general went downhill after the second game. They started out as a fun, Zelda-esque puzzle game, and pretty much morphed into Call of Harry: Modern Spellfare by Deathly Hallows Part 2. Such a same.

Oh wow. I played this game a long time ago, as a child, and watching it now again, I suddenly realized that the narrator is none other than Stephen Fry! I had never even heard of him back then, and nevertheless I used to hear his distinct voice every time I replayed this game. That’s so weird to think about!
I'm finally doing my own Harry Potter series on youtube now :D Thank you so much for the inspiration, I love watching yours and I had to come back to say it. These games are still amazing!
I love this game I got it for my birthday from a friend of mine along with Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets on the PC years ago and it still works great
I got a lot of nostalgia watching lets-plays of the first two games, but I never played this one. It's actually really uncanny compared to the first two. And what's with the spell changing? So instead of the classic Flipendo, now there's Depulso which has the symbol of Rictusempra. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I see that they KEPT Rictusempa and gave it a new logo similar to Difindo. I guess it's cool to see where Carpe Retractum spell got its start (since it makes an appearance in the Goblet of Fire PC game as a charm). My poor childhood memories getting overwritten...
The only thing that could make me like the game is if they didn't change Flipendo to Depulso. It's like changing Harry Potter's name in the middle of the saga.

When you are such a huge fan of Harry Potter and have seen every piece of footage, read every book, played every game; one has no other choice but watch other people play the games on UA-cam... Thanks. :D - I am going to check your channel after this video, I do hope you have played through the first and second game prior to this? :) #Potterhead Hhaha. Oh, are you on Pottermore? If so, which house were you placed in? I am in Pufflepuff. :D
The Anti-Theist I knew I wasn't a huge dedicated fan, but wow. Impressive fan record there.Yes, I have played the first and second games prior to this one. The second one's my favorite at this point in time; this one, not so much.I'm not on Pottermore, but I have taken the quiz for their house placement multiple times. I always end up in Ravenclaw. Burying my face in books, here I come!
InvalidationX145 I am a huge fan indeed, in fact, to the point of which, Jo's world is simply not enough, which is why I am in fact writing my own novel series. (With my own magic), though I am trying to have 100% my own ideas, - which is far more difficult than it seems - but it is possible. On chapter two so far, just world building. J.K spent five years before the first book world building Harry Potter. Hhahaha, very well. :) - oh, yes, I am quite angered by how poor the games are. I wish they put as much care into the games as the movies. The storyline and dialogue is completely wrong. I do like the fact the real Ginny (Bonnie Wright) did her play for 5,6,7. My favourite has to be the first one, since it is what I played as a child, I loved it! (I still have it for PS1).
InvalidationX145 Just to add to my fan-log, as it were. I also have the Wizarding DVD boxset (43,000th one, there was only 60,000 made). It is now worth $500 or such. Hhaha, I went a bit Harry Potter mad when the final movie came out I watched it on day of release. Sadly, since I am in the UK, I have not been to anything Harry Potter-ish in American. :/
The Anti-Theist Good lord. I only watched the first two movies and read up to halfway in the sixth book. Good lord. o_oI know the difficulty of attempting authorship as well, though I tend to focus more on the science fiction than this type of fantasy (just what I tend towards writing; I absolutely love reading witchcraft and wizardry stories like the Harry Potter series). It's all right to copy some ideas from other authors to help create your own world, just so long as your final idea is ultimately your own. That world building though... takes quite a lot of work. That would be my main gripe for this game - I felt that, although they left a lot of stuff out for the first and second games, they still managed to catch the gist of it. This one, just.... wtf. -_- Interesting little tidbit on Ginny doing the playwork for the last three games. (Four? Since Deathly Hallows was in two parts, at least I know the movies were. No idea about the books.)I adore the first game myself, though I have to say I like the second one more, even though there's no nostalgia attached to that one for me. It just improved on so many things in my eyes that the first one fell short of.
InvalidationX145 Oh my, I strongly suggest you watch all of the movies, just take a day or two and go nutty! It truly is the most believable, relatable film series in history, the history so closely tied to our own, it is quite amazing, very realistic - as magic goes - haha. And it has some of the greatest English actors alive. I urge this of you. The music is done wonderfully, the sets designed elegantly by Stuart Craig, The David's are great, it is just the greatest ten year screen production of all time. I too, focus mostly on science, I write non-fiction only, though I also started a Steampunk novel and a few screenplays of Sci-Fi, and simply story based. You should also watch The Making Of, they give great insight and you can see just how remarkable it is, and you should also watch the shows created around J.K Rowling, this gives great insight into the world itself, the creation and the amazing woman that Jo is. And of course, the first was made poorly for evident reasons, and I am not sure what you were asking with regards to the books and movies, and it being in two parts? But I will answer as I understand it. The last book is one book, however the movie is split into two parts (Since there was so much). They almost split the fourth movie into two parts too, (Again since the book was so huge).
dGladiator Unfortunately no. This game is not available for purchase anywhere - even on EA's Origin website - except for a physical copy off Amazon or eBay or a similar site. There are other methods of obtaining this game, of course, but that's at your own discretion.
It's a possibility. I'm starting to warm up to the Harry Potter series again; I've been reading Goblet of Fire, and my interest is being sparked again. :) When it will happen I'm unsure of, since the PC Prisoner of Azkaban really killed it for me. But perhaps my interest can be piqued enough again for me to give it another go.
Yeah it wasn't the greatest. I'd suggest skipping GOF (the game) unless you like episode-like quests and being able to switch between the trio (naturally, being Harry is most beneficial in the end as he faces Voldemort alone) but it's up to you really. OOTP and HBP were not bad games either, if not a bit more realistic looking due to the graphics and what not. The dueling and potion-making in those games is awesome too! As for the DH games... Well, you'll like them if you play the likes of COD and GTA since it has the same system of dodge - attack - hide - sneaking etc. It's your choice in the end :D
I am watching this play through because I played the ps2 version and wanted to see how different it was compared to the PC game. To those who may have both, is the PS2 or PC poorer or more difficult to play? Just curious, PS2 has now sadly passed on to the land of trash.
The PC version was fun for me ;) Didn't have lots of lag and stuff like that if I remember correctly :) All in all, could be just my nostalgia talking.
If I knew for sure, I'd tell you... developer choice, probably, one who didn't really care enough about the game they were designing to get it right. -_-
In the ps2 version you see Fred and George to get the marauder's map, right after you get to hogwarts, and the carpe retractum doesn't happen until a lot later.
I was planning to, but somehow time got out of my hands and I ended up only reading the first four chapters before playing this. So I'm basically re-reading the book as I play this game, with the book slightly ahead for most of it.
InvalidationX145 well, this is a good thing. the game, just like the movie, barely explains all the twists in the story, so it's better if you know and remeber the story
The Kind Gamers I meant in the books, sorry. I remember it being rictusempra, not rictumsempra. Maybe they slipped up in the earlier games and corrected their mistake in this one?
You may have a lot of beans, but you will spend a bunch as well. Also, this game has an achievement list, and you need to complete each achievement to finish the game.
***** yeah, but still. it put you back. Forcing you to solve some puzzles, fight some monsters, and jump some platforms all over again. So there was some challange

Is this on Steam? I remember this game being quite fun back on the PS2 era.
dGladiator Unfortunately no. This game is not available for purchase anywhere - even on EA's Origin website - except for a physical copy off Amazon or eBay or a similar site.
There are other methods of obtaining this game, of course, but that's at your own discretion.
oh god it was my favourite. I was playing it in ps2!
That version was better.
I really like the main character models in this one, but the animation isn't quite as good as I remember.
Are you ever gonna do GOF and the games after it?
It's a possibility. I'm starting to warm up to the Harry Potter series again; I've been reading Goblet of Fire, and my interest is being sparked again. :)
When it will happen I'm unsure of, since the PC Prisoner of Azkaban really killed it for me.
***** I would really like to see this guy do a lets play of Order of the Phoenix because it is somewhat of an open world game.
***** Yeah next to 6 and 7 and I guess 4 somwhat...
This game as well as then 2nd one was awesome. I beat both.
Hmm, was it on the PC, or on a console? ;)
is my best game of 2012
WHERE DO UUU DOWNLOAD THIS!?! I wanna play :'(
I didn't download this. I bought it.
I am watching this play through because I played the ps2 version and wanted to see how different it was compared to the PC game. To those who may have both, is the PS2 or PC poorer or more difficult to play? Just curious, PS2 has now sadly passed on to the land of trash.
The PC version was fun for me ;) Didn't have lots of lag and stuff like that if I remember correctly :) All in all, could be just my nostalgia talking.
what happened to Flipendo..........
If I knew for sure, I'd tell you... developer choice, probably, one who didn't really care enough about the game they were designing to get it right. -_-
This game is too short
wow...this game is changed from when I last played it...on the Gamecube...
B-(
In the ps2 version you see Fred and George to get the marauder's map, right after you get to hogwarts, and the carpe retractum doesn't happen until a lot later.
This is really different from the PS2 version. Wow
Your finally playing this! :D
Please tell me you re-read the book before playing!
I was planning to, but somehow time got out of my hands and I ended up only reading the first four chapters before playing this. So I'm basically re-reading the book as I play this game, with the book slightly ahead for most of it.
InvalidationX145 well, this is a good thing.
the game, just like the movie, barely explains all the twists in the story, so it's better if you know and remeber the story
i notice the pc version and console version are diferent game
Ron sounds like InTheLittleWood (Martyn) in this game.
Interesting that they say "rictusempra" instead of "rictumsempra."
wasn't it always rictusempra? Could have sworn it was. Are you possibly merging it with sectumsempra? Sounds similar but has an m in it?
XxLunaniexX Check out Invalidation's playthroughs of the first two games.
The Kind Gamers
I meant in the books, sorry. I remember it being rictusempra, not rictumsempra. Maybe they slipped up in the earlier games and corrected their mistake in this one?
Is this game played in win 10 ????
Nope, this was on a Windows 7 machine. Windows 10 didn't exist when I put this video out.

+MegaCraft01 Somehow this slipped way past my radar. Epix is right; I did get the CD for this game off Amazon, just like the first two.
Oh my god YES!!!
invalidationx145 you are awesome
You may have a lot of beans, but you will spend a bunch as well.
Also, this game has an achievement list, and you need to complete each achievement to finish the game.
Oh boy.
Well, at least I got something to spend all my beans on!
bottomless pits are no longer a game over :(
this makes this game to easy
They were before? You just start back at your last saving point.
