I had the honor of meeting Aaron Spears at the Zildjian 400th event a month before he passed and it was truly otherworldly.
His smile, his presence and how welcoming and open he was to sit down and have a conversation had me in awe. I’m blessed to have a pair of sticks that he signed that night.
He’ll live on forever
That's great that you got to experience Aaron's spirit like that. He's the best. Aaron Spears forever 💛
I’ve had the pleasure to meet Eric and even share studio space with him. 100% authentic. He gave me some advice that completely changed my playing
That's awesome. Eric is great
Can you please share some of his advice please 🙏
@@rudrabhattacharjee6440 this is based on where I was at the time. I felt I was a trash drummer. (Check my page. Any video on a DW kit or in a studio was around the time Eric used the studio space). He said I’m not bad, I just need to shed. I.e take my private practice stuff and share/learn/grow with others. He talked about his brand and making business decisions that seemed bad to some at the time (leaving zildjian, DOPE stickz) to grow his own. He’s way ahead of his time.
@@rudrabhattacharjee6440 my bad. My comment didn’t save 😩. Long story short Eric said I needed to shed more with other musicians. Playing with others will grow you and give you new ideas. Lately they’ve helped me to refine rudiments I’ve been drilling. He talked about leaving zildjian for his own branding and how some didn’t agree with that decision. (But we see now who won in that). Overall the person you see on IG and in videos is the same dude behind the scenes. This man DROVE ME FRESH PAIRS OF DOPE STICKZ from Stockton to Sacramento.
Tune in from Southern Africa-Namibia.
Welcome!
