The reason why it didn’t do so well was because Disney intentionally sabotaged it. Treasure Planet went too over budget, so Disney didn’t want to risk it being popular enough to warrant a sequel, so they failed to advertise it well, but it was so good that if they had advertised it properly, it probably still would have made a profit despite going over budget
Treasure planet was peak disney animation and ill never forgive them for tanking this movie. Growing up as a troubled boy I connected with treasure planet. In a world full of disney princesses it was nice to have something for me. I would love to see this return. Hell id pay to see it in theatres again
Did Anyone else notice how he had the tan shirt on the ship and then puts the black jacket back on after he thought he killed Mr. Arrow? And in the very next scene you can see his jacket fall off when he rolls out of bed and then just has the tan shirt for the rest of the movie
No matter how underrated is Treasure Planet or Atlantis: The Lost Empire, I still think they're great disney films. They will always be my favorite movies.
This is one of the best animated movies ever made, and my favourite from Disney with Rapunzel and 101 Dalmatians the fact this movie is underrated and Frozen is considerate a Cult make me ask what’s wrong with this world ?
This movie had huge impact on my childhood. Jim felt relateable to me, because i lost my father around sametime this movie appeard. I got to meet Jim's finnish voice actor one day when i had grown up.
And did you notice that when he has that little chat with silver, he’s back in the black jacket? If silver hadn’t stepped in, Jim possibly would’ve reverted back to his old self.
This should have been a cartoon series of Jim goes to the military but eventually become so disillusioned with all the corruption and incompetence in the fact that it's in the end a machine for empire and colonialism that ends up becoming a pirate anyways
It took me far too long to realise that the bit where he turns and looks out the window at the end was meant to be a reveal that he had cut off his rat tail. Symbolic of letting go of his immature ways and becoming a man. Didn't even notice it was gone until it hit me one day 😂🤦♂️
Did you know in Star Wars both Anakin and Luke clothes transition from lighter to darker clothes signifying a change in growth from innocence to power? Did you know in Lord of the Rings, when the actor for Aragorn kicks the helmet, he broke his toe so his scream was real?
I'm not sure if he goes to Interstellar Academy or not, like he could have gone pirate and stolen the outfit for example, or it could actually be his wedding at the end to the girl in the blue dress like other Disney movies (no hate plz)
Fun fact: Disney purposely made this masterpiece flop so they had an excuse to use the less expensive 3d animation instead of hiring people to hand draw each frame
The mix of 3D and drawn animation will forever be my favorite animation style.
Same
Treasure Planet was underrated honestly, same with Atlantis

They both are my favorite Animations of all time, I would add Sindbad of Dreamworks to the List.
@@Nick_C1997 honestly treasure planet deserved a sequel more then Atlantis did
especially since the Atlantis sequel was baaaaddddd
Imma cry, these were the two best
@@KingExituSSINBAD!!!!!!! Dude put a shirt on before you poke an eye out!

He was rocking it exactly when it was cool lol. You know nothing of the year 2002.

AND THEY NEVER MADE A SECOND MOVIE!!!
It didn’t need a sequel
For the better
Leave the gold shinin'
It don't need no polishin
@@huntrrams would've been so good
@@huntrrams your Right the treasure Planet Was fantastic we don't need a number 2
Always will be one of the best male Disney protagonists imo
No matter how underrated is Treasure Planet or Atlantis: The Lost Empire, I still think they're great disney films. They will always be my favorite movies.
I have to say that his character has the most visible development. I haven't seen a movie with that in years.
Makes sense-people associate darker colors with turmoil, anguish, or evil. Whereas bright colors are seen as more approachable, pure intentioned, etc.
It's too bad this movie did not get a second film i heard the manuscript still exist but no one will ever make a movie out of it which is sad
I really love treasure planet and the color styles is pretty amazing. Transitioning and recovering from his father's abandonment
This movie gets better every time I learn more about it
This legit was my favourite movie and I have seen it anywhere
I Wish i could see that movie again It was One of my favorites even Pap enjoy it
Disney plus mah guy
I also notice that his tired eyes are less prominant in the end as well.
English teachers explaining why the author wrote “the curtains were blue”:
That failure of thought is of limited utility. If there was no symbolism we would have no art.
Ha! Exactly 😂 just making sense out of things
OH MY WORD!!! I used to watch this movie all the time. I just got punched in the face by nostalgia!
And his clothes he wore represented the father figures he followed.

Treasure planet was amazing in my opinion
OH MY, it's been years since I saw this movie. Treasure planet eh. Heh I remember some parts just a few.
This can also represent his grief over losing hos dad
And did you notice that when he has that little chat with silver, he’s back in the black jacket? If silver hadn’t stepped in, Jim possibly would’ve reverted back to his old self.
He's going to Make it into Legends as an officer
Jim's mother talks like Andy's mother from toy story
Same VA. Apparently, she's the actress who plays one of the version's of Sheldon's mom from BBT
He also has dark rings around his eyes that go away at the end
I swear if they removed his like ponytail/rat tail thing ima throw hands-
And the coat that Jim wears at the end looks like a familiar shirt that a Disney prince wears too

I somewhat had the same idea... So cool~!
*pirates of the cosmos theme plays*
Reminds me of Jim hawkins from return to treasure Island
This is symbolism for beginners, give me something good.
It’s crazy how main stream this movie is now
Did you know his scar kept changing to different places in the film and towards the end is just magically disappears? 😂
"that's how it should be. black bad white good." -👴🏻
Based
This but unironically.
Dat jacket and boots he wore def his dads
*insert generic underrated film comment*
same transition in Final Fantasy 8.
Treasure planet was the last disney movie that had soul.
Imagine this as a live action it'd be dope
I knew the black-to-white is the obvious evil to good. Other shows like Breaking Bad and movies like Whiplash have the reverse effect.
And this is why this is my favorite movie because I was born the same year as it and i watched it since diapers and I legit act like Jimbo 😂😂😂
It took me far too long to realise that the bit where he turns and looks out the window at the end was meant to be a reveal that he had cut off his rat tail. Symbolic of letting go of his immature ways and becoming a man. Didn't even notice it was gone until it hit me one day 😂🤦♂️
Why didnt treasure planet get a part two
NOW I KNOW WHY Batman is not a hero, he’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector…The Dark Knight
Or maybe people just gave him new sets of clothes to wear that may be more appropriate for travelling and studying..?
We need a Disney + series asap
Or he just put on different clothes 🤣
Yes air is made of air.
If they ever make a live action version of this movie they should cast Frank Dillane as the main character.
Some hero’s do wear black. Just ask mine, Mr Johnny Cash 😌
Detective void…?
Lmao I thought the same

These guys got nothing on Dr Livesey
While people want a 2nd film, personally, I dont want a sequel or another film of this. The movie itself is already perfect.
Simlarly I learned the shadows around his nose and eyes comes and goes with his... i'm going to say "outlook on things and life"
Still think it looks odd without his silly little pony
I see someone watched the Breadsword video
I'm not sure if he goes to Interstellar Academy or not, like he could have gone pirate and stolen the outfit for example, or it could actually be his wedding at the end to the girl in the blue dress like other Disney movies (no hate plz)
Its crazy this movie 'bombed' and almost bankrupted disney. It is my favorite movie ever
I've known this for years.
This is my fav Disney movie
Very interesting! They did the opposite with Luke Skywalker, yet similar message!
punk goes pop
Wait... Ur telling me
...
That you made this video...
For people who watched this movie...
While having their eyes closed!?
He also cut his hair and removed his earring, but we all know that’s not allowed in the military.
I will absolutely subscribe for more
so.... black bad and white good? 🗿
That was literally the most useless amount of commentary made. Kids under 6 could figure this out.
on top of that this vid and every vid on this channel is stolen lol
It is treasure Island
So black is bad... And white is good..? 😟
👴🏻 always has been
Lmao
To be fair, this is reflected statistically
Yeah, no problemo
@@thedinoking6654 lmfao
This is the most pointless analysis that it doesn't warrant a UA-cam short for this information.
So ur saying… black is bad🤨
Igbh why was Jim kinda
Opposite to Whiplash
Disney, the real shit… is about boys realizing there purpose. Zero to hero.
Sounds like a stretch
I don't know about all that
Fun fact: Disney purposely made this masterpiece flop so they had an excuse to use the less expensive 3d animation instead of hiring people to hand draw each frame
That was not their intention.
Also people keep using this film as an excuse to vilify every hand drawn animated movie not made by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Actually, the most expensive animated movies are 3D animated movies, so 2D animated movies were less expensive.
@@kikicallahan3662 wow, thats cool, thanks for clearing that up
@@errorexe2277there are at least 25 3D animated movies that were more expensive to make than Treasure Planet, and that number is still counting.
