    This podcast started off slow - but oh my god it was worth it, once Jeff loosened up, man this was good to hear about jockos past. It was like hearing your dad talk to an old friend, and you find out loads of stuff about your dad

I don’t ski with him anymore because he’s out of his mind. lived in a crappy area but he always made sure he had money to go to Colorado. he lives out there now so I take my vacation there every Summer. I mainly just bike with him or hike.

      Mr Calcium thanks, I started running four months ago after over a decade of being a fat slug couch potato and also started some light weight training (3 times a week) about three months ago during Covid and yes I have thought a lot about the reality of the jujitsu experience and I will definitely let people know I’m an old bloke. It’s funny in my youth I was extremely fit, ex army and served in Iraq 1991 and now I say to young people I meet, “...restless soul enjoy your youth...” (Pearl Jam circa 1993). Thanks for your advice I will take heed.

Mabey this time Jocko can get through some of what he wants to talk about. These two guys are like the Fathers I didn't have. Thank you for adding Discipline to my life and lowering my Chaos. Also just got my GI from Origin which is top notch. Sadly all the Jujitsu schools and gyms are closed again in Arizona. Still going to get after it running and cleaning my room. So thanks again!

    Really enjoyed this podcast, what a humble inspiring guy. I lost my dad at about the same age as Jeff Higgs and Johnny Kim. I instead went down another path of using drugs and self destruction. I wish I could have let it transform me to work harder and motivate me into being a better, stronger person. If i could do it all over again I certainly would, but there is no time machine and no going back. Life is short and it goes by quick like in one of Jocko's other videos. Make every second count because there are no do overs. I also share the same reluctance as Jeff toward social media. I can understand how it can help with networking and new business contacts but i also feel it takes the mystery out of meeting new people face to face. Anyways great podcast as always!

    • @AngryOscillator
      @AngryOscillator 4 роки тому

      Not true. You can find consciousness in a place where you are unable to exert it. And then slowly the ego will create delusions around you to protect you from a reality you can't bear.
      Not everyone, some may have the iron will to hold strong, but some people without some kind of strong bond with someone else may lose themselves again.
      😕 which is why I watch this podcast. Its the closest thing to a meaningful conversation I seem to be able to find. I hold on though, press forward. But this isn't Hollywood, not every ending is a happy one and then mind is a powerful thing, be it for good or bad.
      Not that I am suggesting happiness = consciousness. Just that unhappiness (or any negative left unchecked) could drag you back into a clouded world.
      Look into the mechanisms of the ego. Its most obvious in traumatic stress but it can be found in other situations too.

    I did the same thing Jeff Higgs did and collected bugs into jars to run micro insect survival experiments... my mother got mad at me when she kept finding a bunch of glass jars stashed in various locations and she always threw away all the jars she found. I got one of my younger brother into storing insects in jars too haha

    19:50 that was a nightmare alot of people were having in the 80s of like wild new york gang guys who'd howl some signal like animals before they attack someone in the streets.. i remember alot of people were thinking that back then.. it was kinda in the beginning of Michael Jackson's Beat It when they come out of the pool hall

    G'Day Echo! Nothing to see here in Australia except a chick with a pilots licence who now, since the plague, works selling dresses! Tuning in to get motivated. When Jocko gets picked up by Spotify for $100m like Joe I'll miss these kick butt conversation threads that are so entertaining. He's showing leadership now just as he did to his team's, as the world needs it. Over n out ⌚🎙🎧
