just installed this on my newly reinstalled fBSD 13.1 - i did not add the ntlm-auth in my conf and it worked fine on Win11 :) Thanks alot for the video.
There's a reason the storage clusters I used to admin used a variant of BSD.

..... and more importantly : slow down please, we don't have experience on FreeBSD .. why not make 2 hourly parts, it could include even more explanations ... if we try to get into BSD we need time, or we go away to others for learning ..

wife: what's that old pc box humming on the back of wardrobe? Me: that's our private netflix running on *bsd luv! (7 years straight).TV gets the streams(minidlna), samba or FTP for dropping the files. Nice video!

Thanks Gary. This is a very useful video. I followed this and have created a samba shared server which I can access from my windows machine. Is there a way I can upload / download files from this samba server to/from my iphone?

Gary, is there any way having FreeBSD boot-up automatically without demanding a login name and password? I have an old pc I want to use as samba server but I only have one monitor, which after I have set things up, would be reconnected to my main machine.
Honestly, you're probably better off with using SSH in order to log in if you need to. In most cases you don't need to log in unless you want to run commands.
