Combining finances is one of the best decisions me and my wife made once we got married. Every paycheck we sit down and budget our money and we’ve done it so many times now that it doesn’t take but 5-10 minutes. If you don’t trust your spouse enough to combine finances then why get married to that person? I understand in some marriages one person might have a spending problem, but that’s not a reason to just have separate finances, that’s more of a reason to seek counseling and try to get on the same page. Or definitely get that situated before deciding to get married.

Doesn't come off as a freeloader.
Had to be real most marriages are usually one person making all the money with all the realistic risk.
And the other person having a gun that's called divorce pointed at that person's head throughout the whole marriage.
It's respectable that she's actually making a decent effort to pull her own weight in life.
Minimalism and cheap property for the win. Have retirement completely funded in 4 to 5 years doing OTR Trucking. Work another year and pay cash for a house in the fly over states. Work another year and have the new vehicle completely paid for. CASH! It's the only way to Fly 👍🏆💪

I always always find that combining finances to be unreliable.
1st of all, marriage is just 2 people partnering up to make lives better. Wife/husband will be the most important partner, but not the only partner. There's business partners theres friendship partner etc.. And they dont combine finances..
What worked best has been that people have a joint account that pays the bills and does the couple activities. And then theres personal accounts that's the back bone of each individual. You and your partner wont be pressured or gaslighted into different things just because the"marriage" is binding. And when the differences arise on a philosophical level, each party has the right to simply walk away and being financially fine.
For ex, most people get married between 20s to 30s for the 1st time. And they are still kids by mental development and societal experiences. They change and develop, some grow to want kid or kids, some grow to no longer want kid or kids. People say oh you should talk this through before marriage. Thats the ideal situation but its never ideal, isn't it? No one can say their philosophies are the same 10 years later and its very normal for couple to grow apart and becomes no longer fit. Plan for the worst, have separate bank accounts.

Seriously if you don't trust your spouse, you don't have similar values as your spouse, you aren't willing to take the good and bad of your spouse, etc then you aren't truly married anyway.
