3rd brake light and reverse lights in top cross bar? Yes leave window open! Built in tie down locations in rack? Filler neck built in to the side. Maybe a 4” “fender” along the side narrowing towards the rear? Adjustable Tie down rack slides in bed floor? Built in tow hitch to rear of bed? Lower 1/2 headache rack expanded metal instead of plate? Good to attach bungees and lighter. Just a few thoughts I had while watching.
Nice work bud. I'm not a big fan of flat beds but yours is looking good. Can't wait to see how you incorporate some fenders when you start you're plate work. Awesome Fab work.
Headache rack looks siiick, re locating the filler neck closer to the cab seems like the way to go. Also with this thing looking as though as it is now maybe you could add some mudflaps in the rear.
Great job, looks good. I agree with putting some gussets in the corners of the headache rack. You could plasma cut a personalized emblem into them and maybe market yourself or your UA-cam channel.
Run two tubes for floor support. If you don't run any, you will definitely see sag in the future, a single is good, but two equally spaced from the outside rails would be ideal.
I found after I built my tube box ( all pro Toyota style) for my 81 f150 , the rear part of the frame was so stiff the front half of the frame did all the flexing eventually it cracked in different places. Truck was on deaver long travel soft leafs in rear, long travel coils up front, f350 axles and 18x39.5x15 superswamper boggers. I think the key is to add exo cage or good set of rock sliders to stiffen up the front of the frame.
Hey definitely should think about rerouting that fillet tank on the driver side if you think that’s possible? Just always something I thought was annoying about certain vehicles, having to walk around to fill her up.
Austin, you gotta place the seam on the inside as much as possible. Those seams are a pia to cover with paint or powder or whatever you finish it in, Looks great so far. So storage boxes ?
I like the idea of the filler neck up in the corner like you said. But having a lot of bends will make it a pain in the ass to fill up. But if you made a filler neck out of stainless or something, I could see it working pretty easily and it will look good. On my old truck, it was under the bed with a plate that flipped up. But I didn’t like that much. It interfered with the tool box or anything that was on the bed at the time.
Awesome turn out....maybe some small angle gussets in the headache rack top corners...would definitely brace it up stronger....Great job brother...You got me thinking of flat bedding my 04.5 Dodge Crew Cab Dually for sure...👍
You should put some rails on the side of the flat bed so if you need to tie something down in the back you have spots to do so also love your videos I love you Yoda I have one as well mines a 90 2wd but hey they’re so fun to drive yeah I might want to get a flatbed for my truck because me and you make it look sweet
Yea the headache rack vertical peices buy the cab looked better if they was turned around so the seam where they put the pipe together was inside. But hey thats just me
Looking good man! Cant wait to see it with the plate on. I am really considering this option for my 1st gen Tacoma double cab. I have the bed off to fix the frame and do a Chevy 63 spring swap. Now I don't know id the bed will be going back on.
Thanks for the great videos!! I am very impressed from your welding and designers skills. Just a brief question: Have you used shielding gas for the MIG welding? Thank you.
Looks great was actually waiting to see what you are doing with the filler neck so i copy you lmao... mine is just hanging there too. Cant figure anything out
seizure warning @2:56 haha :P watching fullscreen in my dark room on a 42" tv hahahaha! yeesh! that looks SO much better man, im one of the no flatdeck guys, but like you said, you're slowly turning me to the dark side haha :P super glad you fixed that flow issue though... looked off with the pieces there before
Austin, I love it. Whatever you decide is cool. You may have to reinforce it in the places where you indicated. It looks really good and I can't wait to see you rip it up in some MUD.
@@austinniemela A stock truck never has a tie-down exactly where you want one. One advantage of building your own; you can mount a pile of them all over the back. Are you thinking D-rings, or rails?
This is the most epic flat deck I have ever seen.. you're skills are very impressive mate.
Steve Henricksen thank you!!
I love the way you kept the tubing the shape of the back of the truck around the window. Sweet
That rear piece, looks soooo much better now! Coming along nicely, can't wait to see the next steps.
Tom Z thanks yeah that was really bugging me haha
Chalenge
I wish you had these videos when I put a flatbed on my Toyota! Nicely done
Incredible job man!

Looks absolutely fire.

I think you should raise the top of the rack or add 2 in to protect cab roof .
Cant wait to see the plating, but i think you should mount the filler tube closer to the cab
I'm literally planning this! I'm gonna 45 the sides though

BIGDADDYFATBOYPUDGE stay tuned for the next video 😉
Just stumbled across this build. Looks cool!! Gonna be heavy.
Its right about 500 pounds. Heavier than stock but not too bad!
@@austinniemela it looks great! Nice build.
Great job
You should put some rails on the side of the flat bed so if you need to tie something down in the back you have spots to do so also love your videos I love you Yoda I have one as well mines a 90 2wd but hey they’re so fun to drive yeah I might want to get a flatbed for my truck because me and you make it look sweet
If I lived in the U.S i’d be hitting you up to fab me one for my d22 😁
Great build.
Damon Northeast Texas thanks!
Ever thought about doing expanded sheet steel to protect the rear glass?
Put the filler neck on the drivers side, with one of those new ones that doesn’t have the cap build it into the 2x6 head ache rack
Interesting idea.👍
Looking great
so sick, were you using 1/8th or 3/16th??
Looks so sick! 👍
Yea the headache rack vertical peices buy the cab looked better if they was turned around so the seam where they put the pipe together was inside. But hey thats just me
dirt racer yea you won’t see the seam once it’s painted
Awesome channel thank you
awesome work. your talent belies your age

Hey any chance you have your angles for the headache rack?
The filler neck in the header tubing?
Do you have any blue prints for this build?
I see toyota pickup I press like.
Good man!
Hey Toyota people. I have a question, is the 2nd gen Toyota frames same as the 3th gen.?
very very creative nice good.
You have specs or prints on this bed? I’d be interested in buying them
Thanks for the great videos!! I am very impressed from your welding and designers skills. Just a brief question: Have you used shielding gas for the MIG welding? Thank you.
Yes this is all shielded mig

Filler neck in the top of the flatbed
Might be cool to incorporate a extra fuel tank in the flat bed like under the window
How much did you pay for all your metal?
about $600
Amazing!
What about tabs for your tie downs
Bryans little Garage yes I’ll do something for tie downs!
