TY for the rebroadcast of this film on the American swimming and surfer legend, The Duke. I never heard of Mr. Duke before and learned a great deal .
This was an amazing documentary 👏 👍
When I was a little girl in the 1950s my father who had been a surfer as a teen and young man, had a large redwood and balsa surf board. I later found that Dad had been a paddle boarder and surfer in San Diego in the late 1920s and 1930s. He so respected "The Duke"!
Thank you Duke. I owe you my life.
Great job of sharing so many wonderful stories regarding the people and traditions of Hawaii. 🌺🌺I visited Hawaii last summer and one day I found PBS Hawaii. I fell in love with the programing. I plan to visit once again this summer. Mahalo for doing an exceptional job of sharing with others the beauty of the Hawaiian experience.
So Beautiful! The movie Waterman is incredible too.

Mahalo Duke god bless 🤙🏼
Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing these ‘olelo!
The firsthand accounts of Duke from his family and friends are a gem!
Aloha 😊❤️🤙🏼
Thank you Duke!💙💙💙
It just wasn’t long enough for a great kāne like Duke. Please do a sequel!
Love the Duke.
This was great ❤️ I really enjoyed it
He also dared former high diver Harry Priest to steal the original Olympic Flag after Harry won a bronze medal in the 1920 Games in Antwerp, Belgium.
Duke's family all have the noses of the statues of the easter islands.
Why were production credits left off? They did a good job.
Why were production credits left off? They did an excellent job of putting this together.
Long live the surf legend. It’s sad how there aren’t many fully native Hawaiians like Duke Kahanamoku in Hawaii nowadays. Most are heavily diluted.
Who directed this Duke version for Hawaii Public TV? Nice
For my IPad this is very OLD…
🤙❤
