I had a 1/18th die cast of this car in the 90's. This is the US version with big seats and big rubber additions on the front. Thankfully the European version can now be imported without restrictions as it's more than 25 years old. This is well worth the auction price, as it will only go up in value. Thank you.
The F40 and F1 McLaren are still the best looking 'supercars' to me. I know there are much better engineered cars these days but the simpler lines of these older cars makes them so much more pleasing to my eye. What a beautiful car!!
I would like to add the Jaguar XJR-15 LM-->this car has a 7.4ltr LeMans engine that produced north of 740hp. Only 5 produced and all of them are in Japan(Yakuza owner). The car is only track ready. Not street legal.
@@chuy3840 Man The Top 1 car to me is the Lamborghini Diablo. I love the Design. But on the '90 '80 '70 '60 decades many Super Sport Cars was all about Top Speed. Handling wanst the best thing on those cars. But the F40 is amazing handling driving until today. See the Video of the F40 and F50 with Chris harrys, driving the F40, how it were launched today. Its unbelievable. Its not possible to drive like that, on any of those cars you mentioned. But for sure are beautiful and Epic Cars also.

Once saw a guy in in England at a gas station, he was driving an Enzo. Had to go over and have a look at it and had a nice chat with the owner. He said it was great but so easy to drive, he also had an F40 and said that was a lot harder to drive but overall more rewarding!

They kept the original paintjob, proof of that is that you can see the carbon fiber weaves through the paint, since Ferrari wanted to lower the weight of the car they decided to add less paint and that is the result, at auctions they check that to verify the car hasn't been repainted or modified in any way
Also the NA model came with over 500HP to compensate for the added metal gas tank. That was a NA model, the square turn indicators and added impact mouldings give it away. Euro had no impact mouldings rubber gas tank and button style turn indicators.

While someone is buying one for 1.4 right now haha the mileage is super low, but the cost of repairs that's not going to matter when one has even twice that mileage because it will still be pristine, the F40 is the closest road car to a Formula 1 car, it's meant to be always tuned on and driven hard

Beautiful car! I am amazed at how much some of these car sell for! It makes me wonder, "what is it that these people know about money that I don't?" "What is it that they are doing that I am not?" Is it simply access to money? Is it the knowledge of how to invest? I am sure it's many things but I am always amazed at how this is a hobby for some of them. Most people don't make 2.8mil in their entire lifetime! Maybe one reason difference is that they aren't sitting up watching UA-cam videos of cars being auctioned off.. 🤔

Ferrari built a ton of these F40s. They are common and not rare. The F50 and 959 are far more rare and where the long term money is. The market will eventually catch up and correct.
Problem with the 959 is the replacement parts now a days are more rare then the car it self. Hearing Porsche owners are resorting to 3D printing parts because Porsche had not produced enough parts during its run. The 959 lost money for Porsche so I don’t blame them.
US spec didn't get the adjustable front dampers. I believe that's the only major difference. Possibly the air pump as well, but European spec may have had that by '92.
as an Italian .... i think the price is overrated ..... i know it´s a special car but if i would be a rich American i would travel to Europe and buy a F40 there and Export it to the US...average price is 1,3Mill€... so much cheaper
Facts about this car. All the rub mounts, hoses, and bushings are dry rotted. The original tires are dry rotted they glossed them for the show. It's a crank no start because the injectors need cleaned. The brakes are frozen. The oil in the transmission and rear end has turned to sludge. All the plastic parts have turned brittle. The bearing have flat spots on them. The shocks and springs are sagging. Also the rear main seal leaks when you put oil in it. My point is you let them sit they turn to garbage
