  • Here is how I run my pedalboard with my kemper running the stereo effects loop! I have found it the best way to run a pedalboard with a kemper if you already have stereo pedals on your board
    here is the link for the interface I have

    Hey James! Very nice video, thanks!
    One question... even if I don't want to use the effect loop from the Kemper, do I still need to use the 4 cables scheme, with send/return?
    That is, couldn't I just come with my 2 (stereo) cables from the pedalboard and plug directly in the "Alternative Input" + "Return Input"?!

      @jamesthainmusic  Рік тому +1

      No the kemper only runs stereo with the effects loop

    Quick question - in your experience using the Kemper stereo loop (via 4-cable method) with an external pedalboard, have you ever noticed any issues with certain amp profiles handling the stereo loop better than others? For the most part, I haven't noticed any volume loss and - at the very worst - maybe some marginal tone loss when engaging the stereo loop and I assume this is just due to the additional cable length that the signal now has to traverse (I do run this all through an RJM Mastermind which has 3 really great buffers and I think that helps minimize this). However, last night, I finally happened upon a set of profiles that I was really loving - until I engaged the stereo loop - at which point there was a significant volume decrease (which I quickly compensated for by increasing the volume parameter within the "stereo loop" module). But there was also more tone loss than normal with this specific set of profiles and it kind of bummed me out! At any rate, I'm just curious as to whether others have run into similar issues with certain profiles. At any rate, sorry for the long winded note and thanks for making this video!

      Great question! In short no I haven’t. I’m pretty sure the kemper’s effects send from the loop is line level (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Also I have the timeline and bigsky at the end of my chain sending low impedence which helps drive the longer cable length also. Care to say which profiles in particular? Would be interesting to know

      @@jamesthainmusic It was a Vox AC 30 profile set by Tone Junkie (66 AC Top Boost pack). I have a tone of his profiles and they all sound great and I haven't ever noticed any major issues when running the loop. But this one in particular seemed to suffer a bit. I too am specifically running the Timeline and Big Sky in that loop as well. Either way, appreciate the response and love my Kemper!

    quick question... if you are running pedals in front of kemper wouldnt they go to the input? i have the rack with separate power amps ... basically want cry baby and whammy in front of kemper mono then run my delay and H9 stereo fx send of kemper? maybe i just need the linker?

    • @jamesthainmusic
      @jamesthainmusic  2 роки тому +2

      They do. Comp, octave, overdrives into the front of the amp. Mod, delays & verbs into the effects loop in stereo all through the linker

    Love the video man! This is exactly what I am trying to do with my rig. I have my board set up going into the effects loop of the Kemper and have that set up as a stereo loop. The delays are still not in stereo coming out of my main outputs to my interface. I have the master output set to stereo also. Any ideas what I could be missing?
