I know this is super late! but if you look closely a lot of the girls aren't actually holding each other their hands are just behind the others back barely touching it but they don't actually grip! if you look further left after Erica and the girl youll see another pair of girls and they aren't actually holding one another... also when they run out holding hands they usually go in pairs two people hold hands erica holds hands with her partner and her partner will also be the person next to her or near her from the start its an easy way to do placement and stuff when taking the mat im sure its nothing personal from what I see its just procedure maybe the other girls partner isn't there for her to run out with. I hope that made sense
