How is the pond going. I'll bet it won't hold water. My grandfather did the same thing back in the 50s. He had a pond built on top of wet spot. The pond would rise any fall with the water table. Fast-forward about 57 years, we had a major drought in 2010. The sod grass farm down stream from us pumped the aquifer slow it caused a trimmer. The pond dried up. Daddy's well pump started pumping black sand and the water smelled like rotten eggs. In 2020, I saw a convict worm come out of the bathroom faucet. The same convict worms that live in the pond. I am now trying to reverse the damage caused by the sod grass farm which went out of business when the trimmer happen.
Learned that on the farm . Put a electric fence around it when you get it dug and put some feeder pigs in the pond they will seal the pond and can be sold at a profit when there job is done
Thanks for sharing this project. We're just getting ready to dig a pond, but getting high bids due to the complexity of our site ;( Wish I could just rent the gear and get working, which would save me a lot, but don't want to screw up a project of this magnitude.
TJ he didn't put in a overflow while he was there, you want to be sure to add it to the dam, now the time to add..also don't make the mistake of not having a wide dam either..
Looks good!! We have a creek and a pond (unfortunately not connected) and we really enjoy them. I think your deep hole would be an awesome place for some fish to go hide - wonder what it would look like on a sidescan/sonar image...
Just so you know that super deep hole will not be so deep in a yr or two. It will fill with sediment real quick, which is a good thing, I alway dig a sediment ditch down the middle of the pond, otherwise, your 12 ft deep pond will be 6 ft deep in a few seasons.
Around here, if you hit ground water, the pond won't hold water. The hydrostatic pressure will force the water out along the same formation that holds the ground water.
Machine looks antique but gets the job done, hey can you help a fellow youtuber and send me clay lol. My clay is 17ft below so to deep for me. I may need to haul close to 200yards and mix my 6000lbs of bentonite in there too. Cool video.

Rumor has it that it never held water. But it’s the largest mud wrestling pit in Alabama now. It’s wild!

It’s far from done, the dam is about 25’ wide all the way around. We are putting the spill way in once we know where we need it. 👍🏼
Mine doesnt have an overflow. Its just not always necessary if you have evaporation and not tons of rain in the area
I have a blade in front of my excavator cuts the job in like half the time. But nice work. Digging mine this week weather permitting
New subscriber. Found you on IG. Can’t wait to see the pond.

Keep us updated on the project, i want to see it come together .
Update on the pond. Also please give a varied estimate for poor people how much this may cost? Thanks for a reply!
exciting stuff..congrats on getting it dug.
Yes let’s have a weekly update if things progress
Thats a nice old john deere excavator!
Well, if it won't hold on one end u r going to line it? And don't forget plants for water treatment.
Thanks for sharing
Looks great. Can’t wait to see the outcome. I’ll be waiting for my invite. 🤪🤙🏻
That’s never gonna hold water without compacted base or key trench

Love the 9 line shirt!! Adult goals! Back yard pond lol can't wait to see the finished project

That's it GOOD LUCK!
How many hours of digging to get that size? I have a small pond on my property that I would like to expand. Debating based on price.

Just came across your channel. Hope to see the end and upcoming videos.
Merry Christmas to you
Did the pond fill up with water ?
Kinda … lol
The whole year has past. I looked in your videos but couldn't find an update. Did it ever got filled up with water?
Enjoyed the video. What county are you in? Thanks.
So how did it turn out eventually ?
For how long did the man dig for?
3 days
That is one old excavator
Yeah... Iol Big'n.
Why didn’t he slope the edges more gradual instead of so steep?
Are you going to stock it?
Yep 👍🏼
Did he cut a core in the dam
You remind me of Jake One.
U think he would have left it looking better than that
It’s not going to hold water with that hole in the middle.

UPDATE??!!!
I’ll film an update soon 👍🏼
Why would you have a well dug when you can simply do it yourself?
