My deepest sympathies to the Tyer family. I was sad to hear about Mr. Tyers passing. He was one of the first people on UA-cam who really helped my guitar playing. He unknowingly brought a lot of peaceful and beautiful music to people worldwide. I will be playing his arrangements hopefully for many years to come. Best wishes. William Cayemberg
My goodness... so sad to hear. He taught me a great deal as well. His "hallelujah" was the very first thing I learned. Bill, thank you - you have inspired me, and generations to come. And to his family - thank you for sharing so much of him with us all. His music will live in others for a long, long time.
I knew about his passing just now. In 2020 where everyone was still in utmost despair and are locked inside their homes, I found his Smoke gets in your eyes video and I even memorized the guitar. A lot of things happened and fast forward to this day in 2022, I suddenly thought about the man who made the most beautiful old songs guitar cover that I ever heard of. I got curious why the last post was 2 years ago, and now I know... Rest in Peace, Sir! I really love your covers. -Your then 11 year old fan (currently 13)
I am so sorry to find out of Mr. Tyer passing. Thank you for teaching us the very beautiful music and inspiring us to keep learning. Rest In Peace, Sir. And I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to Mr. Tyer’s family.
Can't believe I have only just discovered this unassuming giant of a guitarist/arranger/teacher. I can't believe how a player of his stature can stay under the radar. I was investigating the CAGED system, and had just learnt the first D scale, and the tune 'Someone to watch over me', just fell out of my fingers, so thought I'd search for an arrangement. Bingo! I have struck gold, there is a lifetime of stuff here. So sorry that we have lost him, but what a fabulous legacy to leave the rest of us - and all for free! What a exemplary gentleman.
My deepest sympathys to the Tyers Family as well. What Bill has given to me I am so grateful for. I find myself on the site daily. He is deeply missed.
Deeply saddened to hear of Bills passing My condolences to his family and his loved ones. He was a great talent and his generosity and ability to inspire is a very rare thing in this world. He will be sadly missed by many, but his legacy lives on. RIP Bill. Ian
I just learned of his passing. I share the sentiment of those offering their sympathies to the family who knew him as more than just a wonderful musician. At the same time, it makes me sad whenever a guitar goes silent. Bill Tyers' legacy includes all those nameless people who were inspired by his music, who learned from his techniques, and whose day was made just a little better by hearing one of the tunes he posted. Music is a gift to be nurtured and developed and shared and one day given over to younger hands to whom its care will be entrusted. I am grateful for the difference he made.
Ive just discovered who bill tyers was, and it saddens me to hear he's left this earth before i got introduced to his music, thank you for showing me the start of a new world of guitar I've never touched, rest easy king
What a true legend. I had the opportunity to listen to some of his best arrangements before his passing, and they are some of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. My thoughts and prayers.
Sympathies to the Tyler family. Bills contribution to a big following is probably understated. I am forever grateful to have stumbled across his work. His humble approach, commitment and talent is inspiring. Many thank Bill - RM
I was extremely sad to hear about Bill's passing. I started to focus on learn fingerstyle guitar about 18 months ago and always found his arrangements to be attainable, which is more than can be said for many other transcriptions on the internet. I am sure that there are many more like me who owe him one for his dedication and passion to music. It would be a great tribute if his family could make a facebook page of his videos and transcriptions available for others to enjoy in future.
I too just found out and I am very saddened. I enjoyed his playing style and arrangements more than any other! I will surely miss him. My best wishes to the family and friends. Rest in Peace Bill Tyers.
Rip Bill I’m so sad to hear you are gone, heaven has a good one up there!! 🙏🏽 anyone know where I can get his tabs? Guitardownunder doesn’t seem to work now
Hi Bryan. Thanks for your kind words, Dad would be humbled. The website is still up and running, we just had a technical glitch. We will be keeping the site going as long as we can - Dad’s legacy, his pride and joy. Thanks for your continued support. Regards, Tracey Tyers.
