Devin's been a huge inspiration for how i write music over the last 10+ years and i love and adore everything he's done. He just knows how to write music no matter the genre
Devin is such a gift. This new single is right on point on what i feel in need in this particular time of my life, or it sounds like it. He knows everytime how to do it, chapeau
Loved the song just as much as you did. As mentioned, the song is very warm but does have that undertone and moments of darkness. I hope that the darkness slowly reveals itself more as we make our way through the tracklist then maybe bring the light back. That's kinda what I am hoping.
Love it. Got my tickets for next year too I liked where the anxiety is building in the song and he just pushes it back with "STOP IT". Got me in the feels
I love you Dude - You're a fan that's just as in love with Dev's art as I am. Your energy was so refreshing, and I see you have a couple of covers that I'm going to check out. The video was a blast Cheers!!
It’s a cool tune. You paused it mentioning his non technical playing before the what I like to refer to the riff goes off the rails 7:07. I love when he does that stuff like in Genesis for example. It knocks you off your grove for a second the riff changes subtle and then pushes back into it.
I totally agree. What I meant was, there are a lot of riffs where he’s simply playing chords or chugging nicely. By no means does that diminish what he does! I love it.
@@Starcoma it’s all good, I totally got what you were saying. Watching your vid I was like noooo don’t pause it there 😆 that’s my favorite part of the song. I also love when he does that in Kingdom too. I’m looking forward to the release of this new stuff especially nightwork. I throughly enjoy his b-side/demos. I liked the second Empath disc better than the first. Cheers 🍻
Still the only reaction vid for this song as of my typing this. I'm surprised! I guess the algorithm chasers have hopped on other bandwagons, leaving the actual Devy fans who know of his work beyond "Kingdom" and "Deadhead". I'm okay with that. This song is fantastic. Loved it on the first listen.
@@Starcoma Yeah. I mean, to be fair, there *are* reactions to other songs out there. From what I've seen, they mostly come from musicians/artists who really understand, live and appreciate the music. They can break down and educate about what we're hearing (Charismatic Voice, Doug Helvering, Key of Geebz, Rick Beato, etc). I have full respect for them. There are also the rare ones where you can tell the music has really moved them, and it sets them off down the HevyDevy rabbit hole. They end up digging into the rest of his catalog... going back to the SYL and DTB stuff, etc. They're sharing the ride with us. Those are great. It's the people who cover the same 2 or 3 songs the algorithm dictates. They just bob their heads, making their "ooh" faces, and as soon as the algorithm points elsewhere, they're gone. Same thing happens after a notable musician passes away. All these people come out of the woodwork to "appreciate their work", and you know they've never heard of them before and would never seek them out otherwise. It's just pretty gross to me. I dunno. Call it gatekeeping lol. I call it appreciating authenticity.
Incidentally... going on 4 days since release. You're still the only person covering this song. Just sayin'. Algorithm chasers are off pretending to be interested in other things.
Annnnnd... the run is interrupted! Someone else covered it a few days ago. They're mostly bewildered by it lol. I don't think they'd ever heard any of Devy's mellower, more uplifting stuff. They should check out Casualties of Cool, or Ghost.
As much as I love Devin, this track seems kind of...weird to me. It sounds like a left over after Empath, honestly,it could be thrown into the bonus tracks on Empath /special edition/ and nobody would probably notice it.

Thank you for being the first reaction to this wonderful song. Can't wait for the album!

Maybe along the same lines as Empath then. I trust in the Dev. 🤟
Love it. Got my tickets for next year too

I also have my tickets for next year 🤟

As you say ..it hits you in the " warm places" 👍

Still?! G-dang.
I have to agree. I love this track, very excited for the album now.

It's an interesting song. I enjoyed it. Reminded me of Ki and Ghost abit
Need more time with this song. Love his wall of sound in the choruses and his singing but not sold on the falsetto verses
He’s done similar things on other songs before - not that any come to mind right now - I don’t mind it.

Interesting thought. I appreciate the comment!
Didn't like it, seemed a bit soulless. Then I listened to it twice more and now it's on repeat healing my life.
