Pray for the conversion of our nation!
ONE NATION UNDER GOD!
when you find out the "under god" on the dollar bill is refering to the god of egypt never GOD The Father , The Holy Spirit, nor Jesus Christ...

Crusade Prayer (85) To Save the United States of America from the Hand of the deceiver
O dear Jesus, cover our nation with Your most precious protection. Forgive us our sins against God's Commandments. Help the American people to turn back to God. Open their minds to the True Path of the Lord.
Unlock their hardened hearts, so that they will welcome Your Hand of Mercy. Help this nation to stand up against the blasphemies, which may be inflicted upon us to force us to deny Your Presence.
We beseech you, Jesus, to save us, protect us from all harm and embrace our people in Your Sacred Heart.

I live in a culturally Catholic country and it pains me to see so many young people claiming to revert to the faith, when in fact they are just using Our Lord as a tool for their political position, and then using His name only to spread anti-Christian behavior (of various kinds). Our Lord is to be worshipped and He is an end, not a means toward elections or anything. He is present in the Eucharist, not in politics! No left, no right, "Up, up, to God!"
Amen.

The issue is that we no longer agree on the principles.
That’s true. We need to get back to the principles Fr. Mike mentioned in the video.
this is true, and the word principle is pretty vague in that other religions may not believe Man is made in God's image. But we should focus on universal Principles like the GOLDEN RULE!
You are fabulous! My husband is finishing up confirmation, at 53, and he came home so excited. He said ‘Father Schmitz was in the DVD I was watching!’! I’m going with him next week! Blessings to you Father, in Christ’s name and to all watching. Those not watching as well.
He is absolutely Awesome. I love listening to him ❤️🙏
I finished confirmation at 51. The first time I tried was 31, and I wasn't spiritually ready. The 2nd time I was 50 and other factors interfered. I had to finish getting my house in order and that took a little more time. Now, I'm proudly confirmed. While I wish I had accomplished it the first time or sooner, I understand that God chooses the time and place. The only thing I have to do is keep trying to achieve the goal I know He has set for me. Congratulations to you and your husband for finding the peace that comes with confirmation and our faith in general..
Its a shame that he can't run for office! FR. Mike, You are Awesome! keep up the great work!!!!

First of all. Thank you for your words of encouragement for hope. Sadly and unfortunately I see these days people who claim to be Christians (of any denomination, including Catholics) who are full of hatred and divisiveness incited by someone who behaves and claims to be the chosen one. Thanks Fr. Mike. I actually emailed Catholic Answers a similar question yesterday.
In short, I think part of the problem is people are confusing Caesar and God, which is inflaming hatred in others across the aisle. It is a problem akin to the Israelites' at the beginning of 1 Samuel - a reaction to the years of lawlessness and disarray during the time of the judges.

Thank you Father Mike. I really needed to hear this today, especially coming from you. I am praying for our country, our world, the people who seem to think that violence is the solution to everything. Please, Jesus, help us and give us more priests like Father Mike. What an inspiration he is!
Unfortunately many people have forgotten this. " We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal." good and evil are still at it.
Read the entire preamble to the Constitution to understand where the founding fathers were coming from. At the end it talks about overthrowing a government that becomes unbearable for just, not light, cause. The document seems to understand that there may be some rocky spots in our government.
Yes, it speaks of not only overthrowing an unjust government, but also to provide a new form of government. So this cannot be just an angry reaction, but a sober minded, well thought out action for the good of the people in the spirit of our original declaration. And I don't believe we are dealing with despotism yet. My 4rth grade teach talked often about how the separation of church and state saves both, and I believe her.
@@julieCA58 We also need the separation of the 3 branches of the government. Right now the Supreme Court’s a little shaky.

Thank you father Mike for this message.
Thank you, Father Mike, for speaking this truth. So many times I have thought, why would people choose the word "Diversity" to focus on as a "positive," rather than "Unity"? And sadly that DEI fosters more "Division, Exclusion (along with some Envy) and Indoctrination" than anything else. Apart from the very real, intentional indoctrination of our youth/society to think negatively and cause division, my only conclusion is that this indoctrination appeals to mainly selfish motives - what can I get? Rather than, what can I give? With those attitudes, it's hard to get people to recognize our founding Principles as good. They seem to only see the holes, not the doughnuts, embodied in those Principles and our Founding Fathers (if they are even educated about them at all).
There are those who come from the most oppressed circumstances, who choose to focus on using their God-given gifts to improve the lives of their families and their community, rather than just what they can get. What makes a person focus on himself / herself, rather than the group or community, and embrace a victimhood mentality? Usually the root of this is spoiling and/or neglect, or frankly, an innately selfish character. Their hearts must be changed, in order for people to recognize our founding principles as good so we can agree on those uniting beliefs. How is that changed? Religious/spiritual training from a young age and a nurturing upbringing from a father and mother who emphasize the right values would help some, and the rest we can only pray for, hoping God will inspire them to express more sincere and giving hearts. At least those are my thoughts.
Agreed

Thank you Fr Mike. All people are endowed with unalienable rights…life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As much as people want to “help” pregnant women who do not want to mother this human life growing inside, abortion is ending a valuable human life. Abortion It is thereby unconstitutional. Is it mostly the “right” to abortion that is dividing our country? Which is nothing more than placing one human life’s value above the value of another human life.
With all due respect, it’s not that simple. There are women who have a dead fetus inside & cannot get an abortion. There are many reasons for an abortion. The fetus stops growing & is not viable, the mother’s health is at risk & even the late term abortions happen for reasons such as those, but our politicians are being disingenuous & suggesting that women just want to kill their babies. By that time people have the crib & all the paraphernalia for the baby. Having to make such a gut wrenching decision does not come easy. Being forced to birth a child that is dead inside you with no brain activity & in addition, endangering the life of the mother who may have other children that need her, is not an easy thing. There are many reasons for abortions & not just the most obvious ones. Just something to consider. Gbu.
@@madeline795 well said but you can't argue with the alt right maga base who refuse to even consider abortion or any kind of birth control even in rape incest or life of the mother.
Thanks
Thank you for supporting Ascension!
Unity doesn't have to mean unanimity. Unity is the willingness to stick together, despite incongruent beliefs, as long as some core principles are agreed upon. Our political discourse has become so polarized, and so bifurcated into Left vs Right, that any discussion regarding common ground is seen as a betrayal or affront to one side or the other. I hope we can mature past this tribalism. The best way to do this is to restore historical literacy in the classrooms. Without a common narrative, an agreement on core principles will be hard to achieve.
well said. Life is too short for fussing and fighting my friend.

I KNOW we all agree on fundamental truths like “the desire to improve the country” “to look out for the safety of our children” and stuff but we are going at it in opposing directions. Then one side looks at the other side like they’re immoral when in reality… most of us have very similar morals because God gave it to us. All of us of any religion.
Amen to that!
I've noticed Father usually avoids political comment! Pretty wise! It keeps his videos timeless, and prevents alienating opinionated people.
Father Mike for president.
I think if he ran for president, he would be laicized. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe clergy are forbidden from running for political office.
Besides, in my opinion, politics corrupts an individual. Fr. Mike is better where he is.

Correct. And it's why it's failing because we aren't a moral and religious people.
One of the problems with the current church is that it either does not addressed political issues or it confuses them.
Morales are morales.
Ethics are ethics.

There are those that, if they realize that is a Christian idea, they will immediately turn against it. I pray for Father Mike’s vision, and for his faith to express it.
I think a good first step for unity is to hope. Hope is one of the theological virtues for a reason. So many wise Catholics deep in life forget to hope. I’ve actually had to remind priests to hope. To live a life void of hope is not realism. It’s pessimism.
Very insightful.

The HEAD of my Church is CHRIST (not a pope/priest) and represented on earth by HIS HOLY SPIRIT dwelling within each true believer forever making us Kings and Priests of the true Church.
The Pope is the Vicar of Christ
@@christophermanley3602 No, they do not. If so, they would realize that they don't need a priest mediating between themselves and GOD since their sins are forgiven by the free gift of grace through faith and not of any sacramental or other works because their mediator is CHRIST alone Who has paid the penalty for sin which is death.
If you died right now where would you go. If you do not know then you deny that CHRIST died for your sins once for all and that the Holy Spirit dwells in you forever like I said. Forever means everlasting.
The Declaration is "triggering" to many people just by having the Creator acknowledged... So are we united?
This is such a beautiful message! BUT how do we do this when we live in a world (and country) where Christianity is labeled “domestic terrorism” and many would like to eradicate? How do we do this when many are calling for the annihilation of the Jewish state of Israel? I do understand that our faith requires we love our neighbor as the Lord loves us but very challenging some days. God bless the world and God bless you for keeping us focused on the Lord!
lol what? True Christianity resembles nothing even close to domestic terrorism. Christian Nationalism(AKA the MAGA crowd) are pretty far from the teachings of Jesus.
It shouldn’t be about the “left” vs. the “right”; It should be about right vs. wrong. That line between “conservatives” and “liberals” has become so incredibly blurred and caused so much confusion, especially during the past six months.
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."-John Adams. We are fast-tracking away from being a moral and religious people, with a push to do so by our current leaders for the very reason of transforming away from the idea of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Many of our unalienable rights are being trampled on now by a government that has become more powerful than the people. Take away God and something will always replace him. We are not united in principles and we are seeing the results.
❤️
Politics is pointless without religion. If we aren't pursuing the truth together and governing in accordance with truth, we might as well have anarchy.
I wish the common principles were more common.
More priests need to inform Catholics that abortion is NOT an option for voting for someone. Its directly against the teachings of the Catholic Church. Clarity is needed.
Then we tax the church.
God bless🙏🏼❤️⛪
Being a Pro-Lifer and watching what it cost when Roe v Wade was overturned I’m wondering if this was a “carrot” dangled under our noses by Satan to see what it would take for us to sell our souls for abortion to stop. Now the pendulum has swung so far in the opposite direction that it’s placing women and families in danger. As I see it, the only way to be pro-life is for Christ to change hearts, not necessarily legislate it.
You are a lost soul who's in far worse shape of me a murderer! I'll pray for both of us!!@@marycarlson6084
Is it right to abandon ALL of one’s values to vote on abortion only? There are plenty of other issues that one political candidate or another supports that’s also against the Church’s teachings. Not just abortion. And if there is a candidate who is anti-abortion but also in support of other policies which will hurt people.. is it just to vote for them solely because of their stance on abortion?
If the other candidate is “pro”-abortion but is in favor of other policies which are meant to help people in need.. do we cast them aside solely because of that?

This might be a bit of a stretch Father. Evil is certainly on the move in our country.
Fr Mike you’re assuming that the candidates and the voters believe in the common principles. This upcoming election may just throw out the principles that this country has held for the past 200 yrs. The fundamental principle of democracy is at stake.
This country is not, and never has been, a democracy. A democracy is majority rule without the rights of the individual. This country is a constitutional republic. It guarantees the rights of the individual.

David Wemhoff "John Courtney Murray". Read it and you'll understand.
Father the problem I have is with how you started....(paraphrasing) The US was founded on this principle that we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal. While in the same breath the founders made excuses as to why black slaves were indeed not equal and they justified it using bible quotes. That is why I waiver in my hope (although I do put my trust in Christ that God will illuminate falsehoods) because I see lots of Christians today professing their love of God quoting with conviction how good the Gospel is and then their actions completly betray the message. I have heated discussions with "conservative" Catholics about how one cnadidate that never goes to service, cheats on his wife, is dishonest in buisness, lies all the time, has NO love for his enemis, is always causing division is God's chosen while the one cnadidate that goes to Mass every Sunday and has a track record of living the Gospel to the best of his abilities is in league with the devil. ANd I have heard lots of priest quitely preacing the same. Can you go-over how can we hope when our religious leaders themselves don't live what they preach. Thanks for your always lifting words.
Are you saying Joe Biden is more Christian than Trump? Because he most certainly isn't.
Everything you accuse Trump of doing, Biden does and worse. Biden is a career politcian that's been lying since day one. Not to mention he's pro abortion. @@Murph_gaming I feel that is a copeout response in the context of the message Father Mike was saying about using the Founding precepts as a unifying element when that wa snot the case in Revolutionary times. Moreso historically lets not forget those same framers were VERY anti-catholic and had a special distrus/dislike of the Pope. So I wouldn't use the framers in this context. On another point for example Jeffreson who wrote the first draft of those words "men are created equal" was a slaver himself and father children with slaves. Catholics were not very welcomed durig the foundation of this country so hence my uneasiness with the argument. Trust me those in power ALL try to push and influence people.
The problem with this debate is that the Catholic Church has failed in its duty to enter into politics and provide moral clarity on parties/candidates. The church needs to be able to clearly endorse candidates in line with Catholic moral theology. Educating people on the issues is not enough. Repealing the Johnson amendment and giving the church the authority to endorse political candidates is crucial.
Then they'd have to pay taxes. Separation of church and state.
@@marycarlson6084I think you’re misusing what separation of church and state is supposed to mean. Insofar as they’re separate, this is to mean that the State ought not to infringe on the rights of the Church. Not the other way around.
It would be imprudent for the Church to “endorse” particular political candidates and it is terribly shortsighted to do so. There may be particular ideas that the Church can and may have a duty to judge as “not against Church teaching” or “against Church teaching” but the Church does not have a duty to endorse people for political organization, especially not people who in one minute champion Christian values and in the next betray them. I think with regard to moral issues, the Church fulfilled this role in its judgement and regularly voices her opinion on the matters that affect people today.
@@ponti5882agreed
@@marycarlson6084 Incorrect. The churches were tax exempt AND allowed to endorse political candidates until the 1940’s. Look up the Johnson amendment. The idea that being tax exempt equals inability to endorse political candidates is simply nonsense, and did not exist for the first 150 years of American history until Lyndon B Johnson wanted to silence churches that criticized him.
I have an internal battle going on about "A;; men are created in God's image and likeness" there are some evil people that are out there, and that I also come into contact with...
All men are made in the image and likeness of God. Whether a person chooses to reflect Him or empty themselves of Him is their decision. Be honest with the Bible. Be willing to listen to what it says rather than what you can make it mean.
Well the bible is officially illegal in the USA now thanks to democrats and RINOs.
It is not a bad idea as part of a solution, but "agreeing on principles" is not nearly enough. The division the priest is concerned about appears to come from a cumulative process in social norms. The process results in patriarchy (bullying) & tribalism & denial. Patriarchs bully from simple arrogant refusal to listen, to sexual abuse, to genocide. Tribalists follow the bullies or keep silent refusing to stand up to bullies. The infected will violate any moral code, and lie about it every step of the way. There are large groups in the US right now that: support genocide, are okay with fixing elections, have looked the other way with sexual abuse going on in their group, support abortion right up to birth way past viability, support blaming only the woman for abortion / unplanned pregnancy, support sex change for children whose minds were twisted by social media, and on and on. Getting these groups to "agree on principles" won't fix it.
What might fix it is awareness that the cumulative process exists, how it works, and options for defeating it. If that doesn't happen the probability of nuclear war by 2050 is up to 90%, with sooner more likely than later. Estimated casualties should be around 2 billion. So awareness of how it works can motivate cooperation on at least solving problems as only a fool fights in a burning house or in a house about to explode from a cumulative process.
Nuclear war may be the filter that keeps aggressive cultures from polluting the galaxy as these cultures will tend to destroy themselves in the nuclear age before they achieve FTL (faster than light) travel and endanger other planets. If the Earth does not want to get filtered, then it needs to engage in advanced problem solving to prevent it. That requires dialogue among diverse experts including religion. No one gets to sit on the sideline. In fact, religion was given the means to prevent a dark future at Fatima by leading a few prayers. At a bare minimum, Catholics do that and all clergy can put what was requested at Fatima at the top 9 of their 10 most important priorities as nothing else really matters compared to preventing doomsday.
