The Dreadnocks are a great concept. Urban contemporary version of Barbaric mercenaries. Like Simon Phoenix from Demolition man. In V the visitors some similar group of characters appeared in one episode.
He was my favorite for LBCs, the figure I used for myself as a kid was a road pig figure with a BAT head, a piece of leather that I turned into a poncho and a snake eyes v3 sword. I loved his sheild.
I always liked the Dreadnoks as a kid. I often had these kind of deathmatch battles with them just like in Escape From New York where a captured Joe would get thrown in the ring with one of the 'Noks. Even made a ring out of a cardboard box, some wooden dowels and some rubber bands. I always wished they would have made some Dreadnok motorcycles. The trike they gave us was okay, but a realistic motorcycle would have been better. Most of the time the cruised on a Ferret or the RAM.
An official motorcycle would have been nice, especially since the comic book showed them riding around on motor cycles all the time! There was the Sears Exclusive Ground Assault set, which came with a RAM. Those are rare and super expensive, though.
I was going to get one of those cycles but hcc is right, way too expensive. Just give me their main vehicle and roadpig with some other dreadnoks. Gnawgahyde is cool.
Very cool video! Nice Rodney Dangerfield references. Dreadnoks were always cooler than Cobra. They just could not follow orders properly. One of my favorite scenes is when they destroy Skystrikers at McGuire AFB, only to be pursued by GI Joe on the NJ TPK/GS PKWY, then rescued by Zartan driving a "bus," with a "little old lady" on it.
A cool figure that came out after I stopped playing with Joes as a kid. I really grew to appreciate the figure now as a collector. He was some of Larry Hama's best work. He really seemed to enjoy writing the Dreadnoks.
Road Pig is a great Dreadnok. he looks pretty cool driving the Dreadnok gun trike from what I remember. Still have him, and my son was very curious about him compared to all his GI Joe brethren. I sense some foreshadowing of malicious behavior. Maybe his 'block hammer is just that cool.
Thanks for the review, I don’t know if you will review the sonic road pig in the future ? But there is a slight variant, one has the green stripe starting at the temples, the other has the green stripe widening out to cover the sideburns.
Really love this figure. In 1988 Road Pig and Shockwave were the two had to have figures and first we got, chased down with Hit & Run! Was a shame the Dreadnoks were let to subside after the final member came in 1989. One note is the thin wires on the crossbow are easily broken.
Yeah the Orange hair version with the bright colors, odd skin tone, and magically vanished tattoo was pretty bad on the Version 2. I could not think that they had enough foresight on that to maybe portray the brighter Version 2 as the "Donald" and the orig version the "Road Pig" of the split personality.
This was one of the last G1 figures I picked up back in the day. I remember trying to choose between him and Big Boa. Also remember Battle Armour Cobra Commander pegwarming at the time (I never wanted him). Going through the weapons they don't seem to make much sense (the things that clip on the arm). I think the modern Joes did really well with the Dreadnoks, and modern Road Pig gets better accessories (his shield is a bent street sign).
My collecting started going downhill sometime in 87, but I stuck around for part of '88. I did like Roadpig back then, but I don't think I ever got him. Can't remember, though. I think a friend had him. I definitely played with the figure back then.
HoodedCobraCommander788 I have noticed how they managed to pop out some good figures from time to time even in the years of decline. Guess they had lots of trouble keeping the creative juices flowing?
I admit, my Rodney Dangerfield impression isn't very good. None of my impressions are very good. But I'm just here for the reviews. The shtick is extra!
As a kid, I didn't like Road Pig because all I saw of his figure was version 2. It was only after I started reading the comic book that I began to appreciate the character.
I think this is one Larry wrote. It sounds like one of his. And "Goblu" is the kind of thing he liked to sneak into the file cards. When a Hasbro person wrote the file cards, they liked to make all the birthplaces in New England. So it would have been "Gopats, Rhode Island," or something like that.
He used hand crossbow . This looks some kind of Tina Turner character from Mad Max 3 .. The max range is 100 meters so if he uses frag bolts he should careful ...
HoodedCobraCommander788 Well after am drowning in Mad Max world I also learn something about history of arms & think more good about medieval times ... The better crossbow is blocked telescopic crossbow that have 500 meters too 1000 but my wisdom is from web sites , books not by my personal test ... Ah well 3000 złoty for crossbow & 1000 zloty for exam plus 500 zloty for some training work ... Is huge money if you wish to know ...
Not really a fan of Road Pig but still love the reviews of any figure and like with the Dukes file card reading by Garrison Keillor, I liked your ugly jokes skit, wish it was longer.
HoodedCobraCommander788 Funny thing about my memories ... :) I remember my old collection from 87 too 95 but I not remember hours of correct sleep or Linux commands when I try learn ...
Love RP and the dreadnoks. His shoulderpads clearly is inspired from the Mad Max movies. I think the portrait on the filecard looks awsome but I think the uglyness story is just stupid and the split personality is not very good either. I just think he should be the Dreadnoks muscle when they need it.
meh!, Road Pig was one of those figures that would have been better if he was given a vehicle, like a pieced together motorcycle sort of like the thunder machine, Not the dreadnok trike. middle tier figure, just barely for me though. without that cinder block hammer he would be in the bottom tier. Gnawgahyde was a much better figure and worthy of a proud display piece. Road Pig would be the bouncer at the Dreadnok Club. At least Mrs. HCC788 didn't bring brownies this time.
Gnawgahyde and Road Pig were always my favorite Dreadnok. It is very difficult for me to have to choose one of the two. If he had to, he would choose Gnawgahyde with much pain. I do not have much argument. They are quite different and the two are the best.
Road Pig version 1: Of the best that has taken in the line of the Dreadnoks and the Gi Joe in general! Version 2: Top 10 of the worst figures! Sorry, it's horrible like diarrhea!
hey I have a questions for anyone who wants to answer; Is it bad just to pay E-bay price for figures? I figure the cost to get the Joes is just build into the price I pay for using E-bay
I don't think it's bad. I do it. Sometimes, that's where you can get the best deal. And sometimes when you need something, Ebay is more likely to have it than individual dealers.
Sure, I get the post-apocalyptic idea behind the Dreadnoks, but the G.I. Joe universe is not post-apocalyptic. The Dreadnoks kinda needed to fit in the regular world, too.
Well Nagavhyde & Road Pig was nice but it was dosen't like by me in that time ... Well my love to post apo start when I was 18 & start play first Fallout in 98 ... ( Now you will see why that year was fine ..) But when we was kids these figures was weird ... Maybe also because my English was uglier too . :)
this figure kinda bugs me. his bare chest with the muscles is bad. so is his flat top with red strip. and why is he smiling like that? however, i don't have any of his accessories so that hurts him...
My favorite Joe of all times. Muscle bond badass. Reminded me of the Road Warriors as a kid.
The Dreadnocks are a great concept. Urban contemporary version of Barbaric mercenaries. Like Simon Phoenix from Demolition man. In V the visitors some similar group of characters appeared in one episode.
@@sexcorpio6976 A shout out to the underrated classic Demolition Man is always welcome.
He looks like a lost member of the wrestling tag team Legion of Doom/Road Warriors
You're right he looks just like Brian Bozworth,

Most Jacked G.I. Joe figure of all time!

Another great review!Roadpig is awesome! I owned this figure growing up. The accessories sold me back then.
A cool figure that came out after I stopped playing with Joes as a kid. I really grew to appreciate the figure now as a collector. He was some of Larry Hama's best work. He really seemed to enjoy writing the Dreadnoks.
His Dreadnok writing definitely has some flair.
I remember getting this as a kid, it’s one of the ones actually do remember receiving.
I had all Dreadnoks back on the day, including Roadpig. Even the bbts exclusive modern style Roadpig is very well done too.
Mama's, don't let your babies grow up to be Dreadnoks.
A cinderblock hammer is useless after being used once. Those things break easily.
Apparently, Road pig is sopposed to be a dimwitted character
He can be a good addition to the adversaries in Mad Max universe!!
He still has a place of honor sitting on the thunder machine on my shelf.
Buzzer, Ripper and Torch are classic G.I. Joe figures I wanted to own them.
I remember taking Roadpigs body and putting the 1988 Destro gold head on the body. A super buff Destro😂
My favorite GI Joe action figure 😊
Thanks for the review, I don’t know if you will review the sonic road pig in the future ? But there is a slight variant, one has the green stripe starting at the temples, the other has the green stripe widening out to cover the sideburns.
Very Mad Max-ian! Hasbro killed it with the cinderblock club.
It's a cool idea, isn't it? And what kind of person would carry around a cinder block club? A really big guy who isn't too stable.
Really love this figure. In 1988 Road Pig and Shockwave were the two had to have figures and first we got, chased down with Hit & Run! Was a shame the Dreadnoks were let to subside after the final member came in 1989. One note is the thin wires on the crossbow are easily broken.
I guess the Dreadnoks didn''t fight in outer space, so there was no use for them in the 90s.
@@HCC788 The 90s ment the decadence of Gi-joe. Am I the only one who thinks so
I had V2 of this guy, and I prefer the colors of V1. Excellent design and sculpt.
V2 colors are really wild. I suppose Dreadnoks are supposed to be weird and crazy.
Do not cross the line! Crazy within reason! Haha But it seems Cobra's own argument that "fantasy" is fantasy.
Road Pig was my favorite without a doubt! Just broke the thumb after 28 years of use. Bummer.
Thumbs can be fixed!

The different color figure stands was a nice touch.
I wonder was road pig was base on Brian bozworth
The arm shied is one used by a hockey goalie. The shoulder pads also are for a hockey goalie
Great review. One of my favorite Dreadnoks.
Thanks!
I quit in '86 but I would have really liked this guy!

@@soterioncoil2163 I don't think they declined until after 1990. They were tremendous right up until then. With the main line anyway.
As a kid I remember in the cartoon he fought and beat up SGT Slaughter. Please tell me I’m not imagining this episode.
this was an excellent figure. i like to pretend that road pig was the driver of the thundermachine. def a top tier joe!
I had this one. Years later...when I first saw Brock Lesner....I said "Wait a damn minute..." LOL!
So this is what happens when the Terminator meets mad Max you get a dreadnok road pig
Road Pig is one of the Final Twelve!
road pig was an amazing figure. top 25 for me
He looks like a white Gary Coleman lol
I had Road Pig when I was a kid, he was one of my favorite Dreadnoks.
I thought to myself that the file card was as if Rodney damgerfield wrote it and then the skit. Perfect. Really bad file card, but cool figure.
I admit, my Rodney Dangerfield impression isn't very good. None of my impressions are very good. But I'm just here for the reviews. The shtick is extra!
nice jacket man I seen skinny puppy twice in concert
I use to have Road Pig , I think the glove is a for archery 🏹 His s.n. is his social security number
Serial number? Perhaps that's his social security number.

When you said "Goblu Michigan", I got the joke. Go Blue, in support of University of Michigan. Is this one of Larry Hama's filecards?

That leather jacket looks bad-ass on you.
He looks like Sven-Ole Thorsen to me.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are Dreadnocks supposed to be the bad counterpart of the renegades?
We want hasbro to bring RoadPig in classified line. 2023
Is Road Pig stronger than Steamroller ? How about do a review of the top 10 strongest characters of all the G.I. Joe characters.
Great skinny puppy jacket! Where did you get it? (vivisectvi came out 88 too, appropriate)
I made it! Well, I didn't make the jacket. I painted the logo on it.
Goblu is not a real town! Just looked it up, it's a University of Michigan reference.
11:36 Affection? Or Lust?
Great review!!! Umm, don't know what to say about Road Pig. I thought he was goofy. Kind of reminded me of the wrestler, Ronnie Garvin.
Now that is badass!!!
I don't really know wrestling, but I'll take your word for it!

He would work perfectly well in that role.
They got a chainsaw and a torch and what not before, RP is the "wrecking ball" of that crew! His weapon is perfect for it!
Road Pig is the G.I. Joe version of Andrew Dice Clay.

Ugh. figures like this make me glad I grew out of GI Joe (and toys in general) by 1984. So corny.
You only like 3 years of Joe's? Lame! Some of the best figures were released well after '84.
No. Just no.
