Here in Indonesia we don't have many brands that I properly reviewed. There's the wanbo T2 max new and recently the x5, and a bunch of rebranded Chinese brands where it's hard to find the equivalent in eu/us markets, and even light not be the same quality.

thank you very much for reviewing this projector. I have been looking for a budget long throw ratio (~ 1.5) but the corners on this one does not seems very sharp compared to Wanbo Mozart 1 😂

Hello Jayce, I have watched all your videos and I appreciate the detailed reviews. I have a simple question for you. I currently have a 4 mt projection screen and I am using a Wanbo T4 projector, but the brightness is too low. I am considering upgrading to either a TD98 or a Wanbo X5. I also use a Mi Stick 4K and Pioneer AVR, which can only send 1080p (no HDR) video to the projector. What do you suggest for me? I am looking forward to your answer. Thank you.
Both have own pros and cons. You have to pick the one that suits your needs most.
@@jayceooi I was also wondering which projector to choose, i.e. Thundeal TD98 or Wanbo X5. Ultimately, I chose the Wanbo x5 projector because there was a very big promotion for this projector in my country. For me, brightness is very important in a projector, and the Thundeal TD98 has a very high brightness, but the Wanbo X5 is probably not much inferior to it.
There goes the ANSI Lumens metric too.... I thought we could trust it a little more than those thousands of marketing lumens that almost meant nothing. Wando X5 is advertised as a 1100 ANSI Lumens projector and here I see 590 ANSI that after calibration drop to 320. HUGEEEEEEEE differences.

Did you multiply the measured average brightness (@ 100% brightness setting) by the projected screen size in m² to get ANSI Lumens?

This is the 1st projector i own, i came here because i felt a lot of latency while playing.
I did not expected to have 176ms throught hdmi, i'm a bit disapointed on that point

@@freddyguerrero2951 i'm quite happy with it, i got it for 200 euros if i remember well. As long as you don't want to game on it , i think it's a good choice. (Make sure that you have the right angle if you want your screen to be fully focused)

Hi, I’ve just bought x5 and found problem with focus. Right side is perfectly sharp, but the left side is blurred. I tried all possible setting in menu and rotate (and move) projector in different angles. It looks like bad lens from factory :/. Any tips, or should I return it to seller? 😢
Did you project straight toward the wall without any keystone correction?

You can't. But you can install other launcher like Projectivy.

I’ve borrowed this projector from my friend to try and I have some issues, maybe someone will be able to help. Can’t apply image settings, whatever I adjust doesn’t affect video, I only can see result during settings. But settings are saved tho. Keystone correction doesn’t work properly, it’s just awful. Image is very grainy and looks over sharped, I found video on UA-cam with the same quality issue but without a solution. Is it a faulty unit or is there a solution? Also sometimes can see thin coloured borders. So far looks like a huge disappointment.

@@jayceooi that’s what I’m talking about. Color settings doesn’t work with hdmi input, only within build on android . When I plug mi box or pc via hdmi, color settings are not applied to the video. And video looks like it’s 720p or even 540p.
Huge difference with mine vivibright d5000 when compared one by one.

How you change picture settings when playing media from HDMI?
Try to press menu button.
But without calibration, it has ~ 1000 ansi ? Just wondering if is it worth using it in a daylight room about 2 meters away. Looks like it's much cheaper than Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro, but have a "similar ansi in specs". Update: All links in pinned comment are outdated

UI is laggy and not intuitive, you can't easily adjust brightness and other parameters, in order to do it you need to disconnect from the source you're using (hdmi, air-play miracast, etc.) and go through a bunch of menus in order to change it.

Wanbo X5 - Good brightness but high throw ratio.
Wanbo Mozart 1 - Low brightness but low throw ratio
Blitzwolf V7 - Good brightness, Average throw ratio

Did you try using an ALR screen? Has the quality become better?
Increase brightness but lose viewing angle.
I dont recemmend the reflective screen, been doing a lot of experiments for best viewing. Not worth it.

Most budget 1LCD projectors are configured this way. Some even cooler.

Happy owner here.
You should note that while hardware is awesome, software in X5 is piece of dogshit. No controls over HDR (is it even there?), no controls over HDMI CEC, when you connect external soundbar to it, this projector just mutes it and outputs sound through it's internal speakers, so no Dolby Atmos for you, my friend. The only option to trigger auto focus is to reboot projector, and trust me - you'll want that auto focus, because it is the only way to get best image clarity (not with first try though), because manual focus function is total shit. Oh, and this crappy software just exits HDMI mode if there's no signal, so have fun connecting it to PC through modern soundbar. Compared to software from T2 Max this projector's software is unusable, while hardware is superior.
Wanbo didn't mention X5 has HDMI ARC. Manual focus works fine here.
